Bubbler/Bong for under $100(€80) to pair up with LSV

Which bong(less than $100) do you feel would be the best choice for the LSV?

As the title says I have been looking for a fairly cheap bong/bubbler to pair up with the LSV I am imminently going to purchase. I know all of my suggestions are "China glass" so quality may be somewhat of a gamble but being as this is my first purchase I want to try and keep the price down. I was hoping to get some opinions from all you knowledgeable fellows here at FC.

Firstly, when looking on head-nature.com I found this Black Leaf piece for $90 and this Grace Glass piece for $70. Please note the pictures on the website can be clicked on for a further zoomed in view of them.

Even with a name like Lascivious Lara I'm not sure the Grace Glass bong will "put out" as I'm worried the double perc will cause too much drag(apologies for the bad joke). Whereas the Black Leaf piece looks a little less "draggy". I'm not sure how much to worry about this as although I've heard that you can get quite a lot of draw from the LSV I am by no means an Olympic Athlete when it comes to sucking.[Insert generic joke about Olympic Team of choice sucking here]

Also the Black Leaf piece looks like it may be less fragile and easier to clean(please correct me if I'm wrong) due to the Disc/Honeycomb/Lattice style of perc which I have noticed many people on this forum seem to approve of. Although with a glass thickness of 7mm glass rather than 5mm I feel I may be more likely to drop it and may need to be an Olympic Athlete just to lift it. I will however mostly be using it from a low table(less than 2ft) in a carpeted room so weight shouldn't be too much of an issue and it would be nice to have something that's strong enough to pack up and take to a friend's house.

After discovering the blackleaf.de website I found this Blaze Glass piece for $90 which I also thought looked promising. It is a similar design to the Black Leaf but with thinner glass(5mm) and the neck leans back which will probably make using it from a table more comfortable. Also the second perc seems to be more of a simple disc perc with a big whole in the middle/splashguard/ice catcher, can you tell I've got no idea what it is? I'm assuming the simplicity of this second perc(?) will make cleaning easier and reduce the chance of breakage.

All scrutiny and corrections are most welcome and very much appreciated. Obviously any suggestions for other pieces roughly in my price range would be most helpful as well. Please bear in mind I have included shipping to the UK in the totals I have given previously.

I just purchased an LSV myself, and received it about a week ago. I don't think that my experience with glass is extensive enough to offer an opinion on the pieces that you've posted, but I do have some advice regarding the LSV. Order it first, and just try it with the transfer wand and see how you like it.

I ordered a SSFG travel tube (small straight tube without any percolation) with a showerhead downstem at the same time that I ordered my LSV, and I've only used it a handful of times. It works great with the LSV, has very little drag, and clears easily without needing to remove the WPA. Regardless, I still find myself using the transfer wand more often. It fits in the travel bag with the LSV, is very easy to prepare, and delivers the tastiest hits I've ever taken. I just find the transfer wand to be so much more convenient when it comes to transportation, ease of use, and flavor.

That's just my personal experience so far in my single week of owning an LSV, so take it how you will. To be honest though, I probably wouldn't have bothered spending another ~$85 on glass had I ordered and used the LSV on its own first.

I don't use the transfer wand on my LSV that often because it is too dry...my consumption is very high (well above average) so for me, having a water pipe is essential. And since I am affected by the dryness of the transfer wand, I actually get better flavor using a bit of water to take the edge off...different strokes...

You don't need anything fancy like a double perc...it just complicates cleanings and you don't even really get the advantage of the 2nd perc when vaping IMO...it will just kill flavor. 1 good perc is all your LSV needs...and it will keep the drag down.

don't be afraid of 7mm glass... I have one and it makes my other pieces feel less substantial...

Some of the 'China' glass pieces out there are solid enough for the price, so if you are trying to keep things cheap there is nothing wrong going that route. However, there is no reason to lower your quality standards just because you want to keep things cheap. There are good options around that are made by well respected brands. Pick a good brand and choose a more simple design. Here are some other options:

SSFG travel beaker - $60 (made in North Carolina)
Wicked Sands mini beaker - $65 (made in CA)
HVY straight tube - $110 (made in CA)
HVY mini beaker - $120 (made in CA)

There are plenty of other options, so I'd say keep looking until you find the right one... maybe think about a bubbler instead of a tube?

To answer your question noserub I am very interested in bubblers that's why I mentioned them in the title, especially ones with single lattice/honeycomb percs due to the ease of cleaning and solid design. My main problem has been that I've had trouble finding them in Europe within my price range and with a decent capacity. I also quite like the stemless designs as you may well have noticed from my previous suggestions.

Unfortunately both those HVY pieces you linked are $160 and $174 respectively when I add in shipping to the UK so that makes them close to double the price of what I'm looking for. The wicked sands comes pretty close to being in budget at $119 with shipping but I feel I would be wasting half my money just to get the item sent here. As there is no quick way to check the price of shipping from SSFG I don't know what the total cost for the mini beaker would be but I was looking for something a little larger than 8 inches.

Please don't think that I'm unappreciative of your advice I just think you may have missed the part where I mentioned that the prices I quoted included shipping. Since you recommended a single perc I would quite like your opinion on the Blaze Glass bong as I very much doubt I would be putting ice in the top so the 2nd perc looks like it will just restrict the airflow a bit maybe and act as a splashguard(please correct me if I'm wrong).

I have used a HVY Mini-Beaker (with a diffused downstem) with my PD for years and it worked great. It worked so well that it became my daily driver. Then I got my LSV. I mated the LSV to the HVY and took a hit............OUCHIE !!!!. Harsh like crazy. Hurt my throat. Didn't like it at all.

Then I got the SC 12" tube and ALL of the harshness went away............totally. I can now blow absolutely HUGE vapor clouds without a hint of harshness whatsoever.

I believe what was happening here is that the LSV was able to produce MUCH thicker vapor than the PD could ever produce and it just overpowered the HVY. With the SC, in addition to the diffused downstem, there's also a perc in the bottom of the bong along with 5 pre-heated cubes (I use warm water). With the LSV and the voluminous vapor that it creates, it needs a bit more diffusion than what I was getting from the HVY.

Now I know the SC is out of your price range, but what I do suggest is that you get some additional diffusion over from what you would get just from the diffy. Not too much diffusion to take away the taste, but enough to eliminate the harshness.

Iwien thanks for the response, I'll show my appreciation with a couple of questions. Are you saying that I will want the diffusion of a double perc since the LSV is quite the ripper? Secondly, with all due respect, are you a few sandwiches short of a picnic? I asked for a $100 suggestion not $300 plus international shipping on something which no doubt pretty heavy as it's designed to be able to fend off a Grizzly Bear(or should I say Polar Bear because of your picture).

Seriously though I appreciate all input just try to stick to the brief next time.

While a double perc is nice for big hits, I feel like you wouldn't want your only piece of vaporbong glass to be one with two percs.

Instead, if you got a single perc'd tube, you can always add a ashcatcher/pre-cooler attachment in the future. That way you have the option of vapor diffused once or twice, instead of being stuck with twice.

I've never used a piece with one of these newer multi-hole disk percs so I can't comment too much on the glass you've linked. However, I still feel like a simple EHLE tube with a diffused downstem simply blows everything out of the water, at the end of the day. :2c:
(EHLE is a european brand and very similar to ROOR without the price)

yeah, I guess I was half baked when I wrote that question about the bubbler...but didn't see any on your list so thought you were focused on tubes. :spliff:

I did miss the part about shipping to the UK...my bad. That makes it more complicated with your budget.

If it was me and these were the only options:

I wouldn't buy the Grace...that tree perc would be the first thing to break most likely.

The Black Leaf honeycomb has a bent stem that would make using the LSV with it more comfortable than the other 2 when hitting it. I actually prefer a bent stem to a bent mouthpiece. I have pieces that have straight and bent fixed stems and the bent ones are more ergonomic to use. I'd prob choose this one over the Blaze. I also like the slightly larger can and the shape.

I don't know of a lot of options in this price range in your location, but SD_Haze is right that it's hard to beat an Ehle for the price and quality.

A possible option is the Leviathan Showerhead Micro Bubbler.
It's $100 + shipping, so a little bit over your price range depending on shipping.

It's got a removable mouthpiece (handy for travel/generally more versatile) and a very nice showerhead perc.

All of Lev's work is very clean that I've seen. Most of his pieces are 7mm or 9mm thick (no need to worry about the weight, unless you have some serious mobility issues) so they are very sturdy.

Hmm 4/20 special we dont have one but I did make this

Guess the price?

Only 100 bucks. Our new micro bub ONLY 100.00 on FC no where else.
Here is the micro bubbler

You'd need to PM Lev to get a shipping figure though.

I'd avoid that Grace Glass piece personally, but I think I've read feedback from other members who have had similar pieces that were happy with the performance

I'm planning on picking up one of these...I was hounding Lev for a smaller option early this year! +1 for Lev, I have a lattice bubbler and it's serious dope...in fact I think I'll take a short break and enjoy some Fire OG... :leaf:

Noserub suggested the HVY Mini-Beaker so I thought I'd give you my opinion as to why that may not be a good idea along with the reasons why (using the SC as an example, while never suggesting that you buy one), so you could take that info and apply it to whatever you decided to purchase. Thought I was being helpful..................guess not, so.............never mind.

(Now where are those sandwiches that I'm a few short of. I'm hungry. :p )

I know you could get a nice piece form Colie Glass shipped to the UK for that. Your not going to get ripped off on shipping like many US sites.
