Iolite vaporiser

was wondering about humidity, I living in a relatively arid climate, and have noticed on the days it does happen too rain here it takes all kinds of clicks of the button too get it turned on.
few weeks ago I had an airpocket and was having difficulty with the thing even turning on... now the gas is going full stream and thing wont light on humid days...

Quick update and thoughts;

I think humidity is a factor in ignition.

Earlier today, moments after my post above, the IO ignited on first click!

More research needed. I'll keep track of its usage in humidity. In AK, where its not humid at all, it would start right up... hot and muggy in these parts I'm in.

I was going to wait untill Arizer released their portable but Ive decided to take the plunge and get a Iolite now.
Where is the best / cheapest place currently ? I got good service from EDIT recently, they list Iolite at $232 - thats not a bad price.

Considering your location, EDIT may be your best bet.


I see they're making a black version now. It does have the sticky labels with the circles/bubbles though, so not as stealth as it could be.

so now iolite wont turn red... you can see it turn blue for a while, never turns red, then goes out, just gas... pfft...

My guess is the high altitude you live in is affecting the pressure of some gas mechanism.

(Unless I'm just really baked, it makes sense)

Maybe drop the Iolite guys an email. I'm curious to see how responsive their customer service is, but I really have nothing to bug them about.... yet.

To this point it hasn't been timely, but they're not used to having to deal with so many end users.

Some iolite sellers have been handling warranty issues. Others have taken the typical vaporizer stand- 'deal with the manufacturer'. That's something I would check into when deciding which reseller to buy from. I know Gotvape has replaced someone's defective iolite. I would think that Vapenow and Vaporstore would match that service, but I don't know for sure.

Yep, GotVape replaced mine after some suggestions that didn't work. When I was researching I saw someone from Vaporstore mention honoring the warranty. At first I tried to buy one from Vaporstore but they were out of stock.

I just ordered one of these puppies with some other bits and peices from EDIT. It will compliment my Extreme nicely.

Single click ignition past two times, each time I started the thing up inside where it's cool and air conditioned. I think it's also a matter of how long you let it 'fizz' before you click. 2-3 seconds of fill time results in plenty of fuel for ignition.

I've been experimenting ; smaller loads, preloaded, in a warm chamber (residual heat from past bowl) can result in faster, thicker vapor. It gets rid off any moisture in the bud for optimal vaporizing.

In fact, I removed the mouthpiece/bowlpiece after preloading a bowl hours earlier after a session, and the entire thing formed around the heatpin, like a weed cake, it was quite the site. After one heating cycle, it was giving big clouds.

The only downside is some flavor is lost using this technique.

The Iolite rocks. I really don't know what I'd do without it..

well my Iolite finally died. Defective unit. just got off the phone with Gotvape.com, going to get a new replacement.

I'm glad to hear about Gotvape taking care of you. Based on this, I would recommend getting an II from them so that you are not stuck with warranty issues direct with the manufacturer.

yeah all my vaporizers Ive gotten from the manufacturers, iolite is the only one I got through a third party, and the customer service is great. all the trouble shooting tips we talked about I was able too find here on FC first, so it was pretty much running through a checklist. Just got too send it and send them a trackin number and my new one will be in the mail. (and now that I think about it, I would say it only worked consistently for maybe the first two weeks. Then it started acting funny, thought that was just how it worked)


Well... iolite died. Sent it out fedex yesterday, getting replacement in a couple of days. sucks I got a malfunctioning unit, but I am impressed with the customer service and care, and the expediency with which they took care of my dead unit.

I just need to clarify the CO thing.....can we discuss it again from the beginning ?

What I need to know really is : is the lower screen removal a standard mod ? My iOlite should arrive in the next few days. Should I take the lower screen out straight away ?

when Mine was working (probably not within the norm being that it is dead now) I found it worked better without the screen.
and from my understanding the beta units were testing the effectiveness of not even including the bottom screen whatsoever.
and when I get my replacement, first thing I am going too do is pull that little bad boy out.

I would take the screen out. But be very careful when you screw the heating pin back in. Stripping the threads can be a problem and is a major reason they're doing away with the screen and using a permanently installed pin.

Yeah, for me, because I didn't want to take the chance and strip the threads on a brand new unit, I decided to leave the screen in and to take it out permanently when the screen got dirty enough to take out and clean.

I understand the main reason why Iolite decided to do away with it (reliability) but does it really make a big difference in vapor quality and how it hits. I would think that taking out the screen would, in affect, raise the vape temp due to more bud laying directly on the bowl. If that's all it's doing, I don't know about taking it out 'cause my duff comes out a very dark brown when I'm done.

I wish I could say that there was a noticeable difference between screen and no screen for me... but since I had a malfunctioning unit, guess I have too set my views back too zero.

for me the removal of the bottom scream was more or less more room for the material too move around, I wouldn't pack it fully... i just the extra space so that I could more airflow between the herb.
but like i said, gotta start back from square one and hopefully this new unit will work fine so I can actually get a better feel for how this thing works.

It seems that the reason for the screen in the first place is so that you could get more airflow around the herb, i.e. air flow underneath by suspending the herb above the bowl with the screen.

i was actually getting material moving inside the bowl without the screen, would become an even brown... with the screen it was not even and the material wouldnt move a bit.
But like i said, I don't know if these results are normal because mine only worked proper for maybe 2 weeks, and I didnt take the screen out until after that

I went to the bars last night with my cousin and his room mates.

Two (gorgeous) ladies I was with asked me if I had any bud, so we went to their car and I vaped a few bowls with them out of the Iolite. Neither of them smoke more than once or twice a month, so they obviously got really stoned, but both loved the Iolite. They said it tasted like 'flowers' instead of smoke, obviously.

+1 for Iolite getting chicks. Great night.

Sounds like someones enjoying the midwest and its fine ass bitches , I got the Iolite blowing thick ass clouds yesterday per your tip of loading the bottom. Takes like a joints worth but works great!!

Hi everyone. I'm new to the site but have been vaporizing for a few years now. I started with a standard whip box vape and eventually splurged on a Volcano Digit which is my favorite. I finally purchased an I-Olite and after 1 week of being on vacation to test it out, I'm somewhat let down. It gives you the vapor high you're looking for but not nearly as intense as from other vaporizers. And YES I took the moisture condenser out.

Cons:
-Limited to only using very finely ground buds (as opposed to leaving bigger pieces like I can in the cano)
-filling chamber is very small and a pain to get the bud into and also out of with the cleaning tool
-small particles in your mouth when inhaling sometimes
-trying to get your bud into the fill chamber (I ground the buds through 2 different grinders, dumped into a medicine bottle and then when came time to use, dumped buds on paper plate and bended the plate so that the buds would pour right in)
-No butane gauge to know when you're running low
-takes a while for the unit to cool down
-can't change the temperature for varying type of highs

Pros:
-very stealthy
-quiet
-lightweight

Overall I give the I-Olite a 7 out of 10. I just can't seem to get as high from it as I can with my Volcano. Even after 3 fills of the I-Olite and having it on for 30 minutes, the high wasn't as strong as 2 bags. It is definatly a vaporizer high but I just feel like something is missing. I saved all the "vaped" buds from the I-Olite and brought them home to regrind and put into the cano. I still managed to get 2-3 full bags and was higher from the revaped I-Olite buds than I originally was when those buds were first vaped in the I-Olite. It seems like you can't use anything less than high grade buds because middies just don't cut it with the i-Olite. They have the right idea but I think a little more tweaking and this thing could be just right. I hope a newer model comes out in the future.

Hey Guys -
So I was browsing my local headshop and they were selling a new iolite for 180. That's 70 below standard price right? Any guesses as to why it may be?
