Vapor Brownies (ABV Cannaoil)

What would be a good amount of ABV to start making Butter?
IMO ~3-4x the weight you would normally use for fresh unvaped buds.. so if you make a single serving w/ ~1g unvaped buds, then use ~3-4g AVB.. i guess it depends on how vaped it is also.. but that's what i do. adjust accordingly depending on how many doses your'e aiming for.

I just thought of a really great way to eliminate the smell from making cannabis oil. The step that creates the most smell is boiling the weed in the oil, so if you just buy an electric burner from Amazon and do that part in your garage or outside your house somewhere. As long as you let everything cool down before taking it inside, I think this will really help to eliminate the smell.

Hi Rants. Not sure if this is the best approach in that when you're simmering you have to manage it by keeping the bubbling at a certain low constant ferocity which is probably a lot easier to achieve with a gas stove. I like the "cold infusion" method. No smell at all and there's virtually nothing that you have to do but wait.

As I somewhat expected, the avb brownies were a waste of time and materials.

Any effects were purely psychological, and it required me to eat 4 bad, very thick brownies. Made me drowsy and fat. That is all.

Avb is best used as filler....for your blunts, bowls, or whatever. Have a little self respect and dont digest that garbage.

Sorry you didn't get great results but I can say with total certainty that the effects from ABV brownies are more psychedelic than psychological and that is the consensus of many experienced vaporists and heads in general. A friend of mine screwed up her first attempt at brownies and I think it's because she baked the brownies a half hour longer than the recipe called for at 325 but I am not sure. Also I'm not sure she mixed the ABV oil into the brownie mix in a large bowl as vigorously and relentlessly as I do so it's very evenly dispersed. Don't write this off just yet - ABV brownies are the best thing since bottled ketchup; follow any recipe here, especially Vtac's original recipe, and consider my approach, and follow either or to the t and give it another try. Can you describe step by step what you did?

One huge problem i can see with making ABV edibles is the potency being too low. One thing I did to determine how potent my ABV was to combust a bowl of it. If it hardly does anything to you, there is no point in making edibles with it.

I wonder if you're doing something wrong. I did the cold infusion method recently with 1/2 cup canola oil and a 1/2 cup of ABV (collected from a variety of different batches of herb), used that to make a batch of brownies, and it worked great, couldn't be more pleased. Shared the brownies with a few friends and they were just as impressed with the results.

At first I cut the batch into 8 large brownies, but then found that even half of one was enough to produce a very nice, long lasting buzz. I didn't even strain the ABV out of the oil because I ground it up so fine, it just blended in with the brownie mix, no problem, and I could hardly taste it at all.

And trying to determine how potent your ABV was by smoking a bowl of it was a waste, and probably gross, too. Sorry this method didn't work out for you. Maybe you vape the shit out of your herb and there's less goodness left in it than the way other folks vape? Maybe you have a really high tolerance? Either way it sounds like you'd be better off donating your ABV to someone. No sense in letting perfectly good stuff go to waste, right?

^ I know somebody who maintains that edibles do not affect him or if they do it's marginal. Yet vaping wise or smoking wise we are on the same page. It's possible that there are some people who lack this "vulnerability." Still, it's hard to imagine. I would still give it another go, no sense not utilizing your ABV.

My brownies came out great. Was just suggesting this technique for people who are having issues making ABV brownies to see if what they are using has anything left in it. And yes, it tastes like ass.

LOL, "tastes like ass"! I haven't smoked in over a year and half since I got my iolite, and just can't imagine going back to it, much less smoking ABV. Considering that vaping uses up the majority of the goodness in the herb, I would think that you'd have to smoke a lot more than one bowl of it (at least the equivalent of the amount that might end up on one brownie) to get any kind of sense of what was left in it. Just doesn't seem worth it, but to each his own.

I was a bit skeptical about making edibles with the ABV, but am totally sold on it now. I've got all my friends with vaprorizers now saving their ABV for me to bake with. This cold infusion method is so drop-dead easy, and apparently very effective, that I can't see why anyone would even bother with any of the heating methods. On the other hand you can't make your brownies the same day with this method, so that could a be considered a downside. For this first venture into cold infusion I let my oil+ABV sit and soak for about a week and a half, shaking the jar every day, mostly because it wasn't convenient for me to bake until then. The one thing I've realized about edibles, which I hadn't done in at least 20 years, is that you really need to block out a much longer chunk of time.

So whats the consensus about just grinding the abv up (like flour-fine) and just adding it in. Would I really be missing out that much as apposed to doing "cold fusion?"

I'm planning on mixing it with coconut oil and soy lecithin. I just hit 20g of ABV and it seems like it'd be very appropriate to use for the upcoming holiday.

I just ground mine in a coffee grinder and added it. I didn't bother to filter it out when it was ready, just dumped it into the batter. Remember you will need a warm plate to keep the coconut oil liquified.

Like tikimaize said, definitely get the hot plate. I picked one up from amazon for under $10. I'm making a batch right now, and I find I only need the hot plate on about half of the day---only when the coconut oil begins to solidify.

I'm interested in trying the coconut oil next go round myself. Thinking of using the base from a standard drip coffee maker as the 'hot plate' since it stays warm. Do you think this would work the same?

Actually I used a coffee mug warmer. I found I could get away with only having the jar partially on the warmer, which was left on the whole time. Good luck.

I think the coffee maker warmer might get too hot. I know the mug warmer is a lower temp than my coffee maker.

cool. thanks everybody for the comments. a coffee warmer would be at a lower more suitable temperature, that makes sense. i love the head from edibles although it's not something i tend to do as a constant.

Thanks to the "cold infusion" method in this thread I decided that today would be the day for me to brew up some ABV oil.

My ABV is from 2-3 different high-grade strains of herb. It is light brown with specks of green here and there. Not heavily vaped at all. All of the herb was vaped using my Pax on medium heat setting. I have about 12 grams of ABV that took me 2 months to accumulate. The 12 grams was almost exactly 1/2 cup before grinding to a fine powder.

I used 1/2 cup ABV about a gram of Kief & about .5 grams fresh herb (also high grade).

I used a coffee grinder to grind the ABV and fresh herb into a fine powder. Added the Kief, finely ground ABV, fresh herb, teaspoon of vinegar and pinch of salt to 1/2 cup Canola oil in a sealed glass jar.

Gave it a little shake and stored in a cool dark place. Will shake daily and hopefully make some brownies later this week.

I will report back after I have made and sampled some of the goodies :)

Great first post let us know how it goes! I have finally found a dose that works for my high tolerance. It's 72-80 grams of high quality abv mixed with around 10oz coconut oil and 1.5oz lecithin granules in a crockpot for like 3 days on warm then strained and made into no bake cookies using bad kat's canna pharm recipes!

Well, I will begin by mentioning that my first attempt at this was a huge success! Made some brownies with the cold infused ABV canna oil. Cut into 14 2"x 2" squares. Ate two brownies on an empty stomach Thursday around 5PM, expecting to maybe get a little buzz for a few hours.

6:30 rolls around and I'm starting to feel quite altered. By 7:30 I was actually having difficulty talking and walking. Absolutely completely shattered. Tried to cook myself some dinner...fail. Tried to watch some TV, but could not comprehend what was going on no matter what channel I watched...fail. Tried to carry one a conversation with my wife and son...fail. Anxiety got the better of me for a bit as well. Went to bed around 10, still intensely medicated, and slept like a log.

I awoke feeling less than refreshed, with blood shot eyes and still feeling a bit off.

I have since eaten just one brownie on two separate occasions and have been rewarded with a great medicated experience each time. I'm thinking 1.5 brownies will be perfect given the right timing (meaning having no plans or responsibilities for the next 5-7 hours!).

I still can't believe how well this method of making canna oil with ABV worked. Can't wait to save up some more and make my next batch. I used the Ghirardelli Dark Chocolate brownie mix. I added walnuts. Baked at 315 degrees for about 50 minutes. Recipe actually calls for 40-45 minutes at 325 degrees. They came out moist and delicious. No taste of the herb or ABV at all.

Thanks again to all who contributed to this thread!

Well I just put up my first jar of cold-leaching canna-oil. I followed jeffp's directions and it looks like in a few days time I'll be set up to make my edible stash for the summer. :D I usually make peanut butter cookies to hide the taste and since I don't plan on straining it this this time I'll probably make it with crunchy PB.

This was my first time using a coffee grinder for the ABV and this looks like these will be MUCH more potent than my last batch. I was surprised how much "poop" I could fir into half a cup! I'll report how it goes after a test dosing. Thanks jeffp!

what kind of oil did you use? i use canola from trader joe's as supposedly everything with their brand name on it is non GMO. the cookies should be interesting; it's an area that i'm unfamiliar with. next go round i may try nycdeisel's method of coconut oil and ABV - no cookies, no brownies - just eating a teaspoon out of the refrigerated jar when desired. good luck, let us know how you like dem cookies...
