Going back to smoking...So different...

Hi everyone,

I've been quite unlucky the past 2 days...I broke my 2 Solo stems...one of them broke in the silliest of manners...anyways. I'm now vapeless. Since it's been a month and a half I've been waiting for my 2 vriptech bowls since I broke the bowl that came with it like 2 weeks after I got it...I also have to send the vriptech unit itself for an exchange because it came with the smallest of cracks. But cracked glass doesn't last so it's going back. Just waiting to see if I receive the bowls and if they are broke, to send in the unit (and to make sure I'm not getting scammed, they are pretty unreliable so far)

Anyways,
I had to go back to smoking. It's a weird adjustment. Smoking makes me so much more sleepy.
As if by vaping I got higher but not as stoned. Which I've come to love.

Anyone else has experience switching back?
I thought maybe smoking less, since it wouldn't make me as sleepy during the day?

I feel like its different for everyone. My friend hates my iolite because "it makes him pass out".

When I go back to smoking, I always feel really groggy after the high wears off. If I were in your situation, I would just smoke at night, so that I could go right to bed after it has worn off.

Having vaped for so long; I don't think there is anyway I could go back. There is no pleasure to be had with smoking(for myself). The taste is acrid, the smoke irritates my entire respiratory system, odor clings to everything... just too many negative aspects...

Sounds like you need a backup for your backup. Flame powered vapes seem to be the most reliable backups..There's tradeoffs to every unit. but atleast with the flame vapes there's less moving parts.Low failure rate. The vapmans on my radar. low tech- high rewards;)

Yeah, hindsight is 20-20, right. I, too, would get a cheap, lighter based vape. I have a VG coil that I scooped up for $20 before a camping trip, and it's come in handy numerous times as a backup.

Funny, after breaking my VHW cover for the third time, I had to switch back to smoking until my LSV arrived for like 3 or 4 days. I also had to revert to smoking during Hurricane Sandy in NY after I lost power. Then there were the few times I got the LSV too hot and combusted by accident. All of these experiences with smoking for the "first time" in x months have always reminded me of why I switched to vaporizing to begin with. It's for all those reasons Vaporeyes just mentioned. Just the heat of the smoke bothers me enough. I don't know how I used to be so enthusiastic about smoke itself. Effects wise, smoking has always made me really groggy post-high. Which was one of the reasons why I only smoked at night. I can get just as groggy after vaping, but at least I have control over the temperature for that.

Like others have said, it sounds like you could use a backup backup. Have you given any thought to concentrates at all? I would say thats a far more pleasant option than combustion.

Honestly, i don't understand why you guys don't have at least 1 flame powered vaporizer, to be used in the odd times you can't reach power or some malfunction happens and you have to send the vaporizer back.

The genies are the best IMO because they work with a regular bic lighter, so that is an extra step for the odd time that you run out of gas in your torch lighter and can't get a cannister anytime soon.

I definitly don't want to smoke, especially because i was too cheap to spend 30$-40$ on a flame vaporizer. Just get a wood/metal vaporgenie and it will be your backup/camping vaporizer.

Ya I got mflb Powerex 2700's stockpiled like a zombie apocalypse is any day now :suspicious: :tinfoil:

And then I still plan on getting a VG or Lithe  You gotta treat mission critical equipment like NASA and have 3 back up plans or more

I'm out of town, and there was no way I could take a vape with me, so I have been smoking. It sucks and tastes like crap. Everyone notices the smell if I am not careful...everything about it just feels unhealthy.

I was at a party the other night, and snuck out for a toke. No matter how far I went from the house, everyone started asking "who is smoking the herb?" as soon as I came back in.

And my rolling skills suck.

I still love rolling...however I hate smoke, it tastes nasty but smells so good though :p
I can already imagine what the taste will be like when I receive my new bowls :)
It's really annoying that since I'm a bong toker that the bong water smells so gross, even just after one hit it smells like crap :(

We're here to fuck shit up.
Order a "3 fer" of Slider Gn0mes and a half dozen cans of butane. You gotta have a flame based unit as backup. I hate having to smoke. I don't play Zonk too often, but when I do I always regret it the next day. I just can't do the combustion thing anymore.

I was using my Hammer vaporizer yesterday with the GOng attachment, thought I was getting a massive rip of vapor... WRONG; I combusted half my bowl. I decided to just go on with the process and finish out combusting the rest of the load. I hated it lol. Not only did I feel extremely sluggish, my throat swelled a little bit. I'll stick to the vape-life.

I've been smoking for two days now after a few weeks of nothing but vaporizing. Because my tolerance seemed high my load size needed to be a big as a small bowl. Now when I smoke I need less then before when I did it everyday the buzz last longer. I hate smoking mids

Combustion sucks, I don't ever combust with my hammer, but I find that those I introduce it to will occasionally combust. It won't take too long to get the hang of it though.

If you do accidentally combust, blow the smoke out using the downstem. Also, this post might be beneficial to you.

Getting something like an Ubie as a backup isn't a bad idea since they are so reasonably priced.

I've honestly been combusting a lot more lately than I have been, still never by myself but hell if I'm not low on bud I really don't mind throwing in on a J or a few bong loads even though it truly feels like a waste of money. I mean .2 gets me nice and high vaped and it takes like 3 times more with combustion.

but the thing is I still enjoy combustion, of course not as much as vapor but there's just nothing like taking a big bong rip of smoke or sittin back puffin on a J, the high is much more groggy and sedative, that's why I try to save the toking with friends for night.

I'll probably quit combustion for good one day, but I feel like for now my favourite thing about life is variety, I mean vaping and dabbing is still 90% of my consumption but burning it is still a way to get cannabinoids. Even though there isn't one thing about smoke that beats vapor IMO (except the speed/ease), I think its gonna be a good while till I'm ready to never smoke again.

But watching everybody burn through their 8th stash in a few days makes me sooo glad theres such a better way, Cheers Vaporists!:science:

Pssshh and my friends think I'm cheap with my weed... they just don't get how inferior it is, especially when you enjoy this kinda high as apposed to the dirty feeling burnout tobacco mixed high which probably 50 or 60% of them prefer... To each their own.

And sunnyhours I thought I was the only one around here who still loves the smell of combusted (quality) herb. Especially when I havnt smoke for a long time, that smell wafting in the air just hits me like the smell of a cooling pie your grandma baked.

I'm not in the same boat with many of the posters here. I can still get the sleepies even more effectively when vaping, IF going for the X-factor, meaning if I start at a very high temperature.

It's fairly achievable with the hammer and other similar (freebase style) vapes.

I never said I can't vape for sleep but for me combustion gets me much sleepier overall but I vape often soon before bed because obviously smoking it just doesn't get me nearly as high, and I gotta be high to get the sleep. But a few bong snaps after vaping once in a while gets me nice n ready for bed tbh

If I'm drunk I'll still smoke cigarettes, and on occasion I will try smoking herb and/or tobacco just because I feel like it (or I think I feel like it) and it just tastes so nasty! I used to love smoking but I don't enjoy it at all now. Then of course you've got all the other horrible aspects like the lingering smell on your clothes, general dirty feeling, clogged up respiratory system and so on. Fuck combustion!

Great advice on the back up vapes. Everyone should have at least one backup imo, two would be preferable. A MFLB style and a lighter based vape would probably do for most people.

About a year and a half ago I tried to go 50/50 on vaping/smoking and it was just awful. As others have stated, the smell, the taste, the wastefulness - it's just not for me anymore.

OP how long will it take for a new Solo stem to get to you?

You can get an ubie or a vg so cheap these days there's really no reason to be without your tools. When I travel and I will be gone for more than a few days I ship my No2 to myself and prior to going back home I give my No2 an ISO bath and ship it back. I haven't smoked in a while - when I do the taste is awful and my chest tends to hurt. If I have no choice I roll joints.
