Discontinued Thermovape Cera

Great Scott!
Well in a twisted turn of fate my cera won't heat up at all now. Nothing has changed either. I REALLY needed it tonight too. I'll play with it and see what I find if anything, just really hoping this doesn't have to go back already.

Tried another battery that I had that used to make it light up. This is not looking good at all. Anything I can do to troubleshoot?

4/20 disaster :/

On the subject of O-rings, would the O-rings used in paintball guns work with the Cera? I was cleaning my paintball gun the other day and saw that it had the same color rings in spots, but im not sure what they are made of.

Real sorry to hear this. If yours follows the pattern it's either the switch or the strap in the battery compartment. Here's a post from OF on eliminating the switch to see if it's the problem, and here's one for the strap.

Well, just fired the Cera EO back up after getting it back up and running from the boil. I power cycled it to hasten the drying, hopefully that was OK. I also torched it a bit, that worked well.

Anyways, onto the action. I loaded roughly .25-.30 grams of some mmj earwax. It melted swell with a few 5 second power cycles. Sadly, at the time, my wife made me go run some errands.

Now I am back home and have tested it out thoroughly. It initially was hell to pull on. I let it heat up for about 10-15 seconds, and began to take some light steady pulls, to "bring" the hot air over the wax infused sponge. It worked well. The restriction took a while to loosen up, and I got a few decent hits using it on my Leviathian bubbler. However, when I used it on the bub, it was VERY restrictive. My guess is the drag from the water as well on the vape itself, compounded it.

Still, took about 5 solid pulls and I am feeling just fine. :science: The body and MP is moderately warm after a 5 minute short session. I was using the Panasonic batteries that I procured from Amazon. I like 'em.

I am a very happy customer. Bravo to a well designed, American-made (sorry little bit of nationalist pride goes a ways with all of this focus to drive down cost while affecting quality around), safe vaporizing device. My hat is tipped to you.

Sucks. I'll try the foil wad soon. So just put the battery in, then stuff a bunch of foil in to make a connection with the metal end of the cera body, no switch involved at all?

Yup, if the switch is the issue then that should get your core glowing.

1st impression: Firing the eo cart up is like lighting a jet engine, you get little sputters of vape and then it lights and it produces a truly awsome hit!

It's like this (before the fire)

lol I'm not sure why that engine was so crazy

I thought it was a bit harsh when I hit the cart straight, but when I blew out a wall of a cloud I knew why!
I love it through water even more, I hope it performs like this forever!

How does it turn on? Is this something anyone can buy / make? It looks like a good outdoor / rough environment oil vaporizer.

It turns on by pushing the endcap until the battery hits the positive of the cart.
There's a nut in the top to hold the cart, it's a bit inspired by these:
Actually I've made half a dozen or so of them, mostly using brass hex nuts rather than the wing nut I used on the first one. I even made one with a m601 connector to put on Persei. You can see the latest version in my "Tri Cera Tops" photo:

I'm sure TV will produce an improved version in due time. It is a fun little gadget.

It works great, but I'll take out the battery when pocketing it :2c:

^^^ wow that little metal body looks awesome. Super stealthy looks like ecig!

Are all the set screws supposed to be the same distance into the cart? Upon further inspection I notice two are the same depth, and one is about half to 3/4 as deep, and like i shared I somehow don't have a fourth one. When I suck on the cart and block the open hole, I can tap my finger on the hole with the shallow set screw and feel suction. The other holes with deep screws don't do this.

I plugged up the open hole with a piece of the black o-ring bent in half, stuffed in and cut off short enough to screw into the body. Makes a huge difference in draw restriction. This is a better design for people who haven't used it before, most of my friends were just ripping the thing and getting various results depending on their button tech and oil level.

But I can't seem to get it to work as good in my WP like someone else mentioned. With the missing screw, I was getting huge clouds with a fresh load and pretty good ones if milked right at half tank. I strangely noticed a difference in flavor when the hole is plugged. More tastey but made me cough! Idk this thing confuses me. I almost prefer it without the screw. But I feel like it doesn't allow the oil at the bottom of the cart to vape good when used normally. Maybe because I hold it upside down for the wp it drains the oil towards the top wafer and I get mean rips.

Lastly, some oil works way better than others. My friend gave me some sour diesel clear yellow sap that just goes off in the cera but my blue og sap just doesn't like to soak into the ceramic as good. Weird! Lots of finessing required for great performance.

More thoughts later..

Well TET took care of me with no hesitations which gives me more faith and more confidence in them after I recieved my repaired Cera back with 2 week old dead batteries. They replaced them and sent me there new 18650 2900 orbatronix batteries with a mouth piece sleeve so I'm very happy with there customer service and helpfulness with this issue.
They said they would send it it in the next hour and I allready recieved my shipping number so I'm very happy and can't wait to use the cera without burning my lips.
Anyway I did a mod with put a screen up top by the mouth piece and added a SS moth piece so I can pack the cera nice and full and it is producing decent vapor but still I find it a bit tenacious and tedious when your continually drawing on the mouth piece with little results and a lot of heat hitting your mouth.
I found this ll cart works best with a water tool.
I still need to play with this thing and figure it out, I guess I'm not that comfortable with it yet and eyed some time yet.
Cheers medical mark

I emailed TET last night. Can't wait to get mine taken care of. Bummer that its not just the switch so I could have ordered a switch and had them refund me when they got my broken one back. Gotta send the whole thing in it looks like.

I am who I am and your approval isn't needed!
I'd like to take this moment to thank everyone who has purchased this new released vape, and have shared their experiences with it (good & bad) !

Being out of country, I pulled out of the initial pre-order (for many reasons, but mainly my impatience), and it appears that I'm glad in having done so as the inconvenience of return shipping for fluke issues is just something I'm not willing or able to deal with considering the price of the unit.

Don't get me wrong...... I think the device appears to be awesome -when its working- and look forward to purchasing down the road when the initial 'worms' (for lack of a better word), are worked out.

So Thank-You everyone for sharing you experience and helping TET to tweak the unit to the point they initially envisioned so that some day 'I' may too share in the wonder play

Hang in there, Big Guy. You know now what the stakes are. You already know the guys at TV have white hats and will turn it around as fast as their nimble little fingers can.

You know if you were just using one of my kluge adapters you'd still be vaping on.....

Hang in there, I think I hear the Calvary coming?

Just approved final design for custom mouthpiece. I'm told it'll take 20 days for them to create the mould, cast it, finish the surface, fire it, etc. Then they're mailing it to me, which will take another 10 days. I'll let you all know how it turns out when I get it.

I've lost no faith in them at all. Just bummed out. Hoping to have a replacement before 4/20 but I doubt it since I haven't sent mine in yet or anything. Maybe they will cross ship it or something with a deposit. I'll make due with the pax and cloud though for sure.

Neat little adapters you have. I want a power cord for the cera to work in the car. That would be quite nice. Having that for the T1 extended my battery life dramatically.

I knew that, but you can't blame a guy for taking an easy shot like that can you? Truth be known Tim and I have been saving that 'special' Cera for you (if you look you'll find a microprocessor under the screw plate, it's been counting sessions......).

Yeah, the adapters are fun, I'm looking forward to TV or someone 'doing it right', mine are a PITA to solder up, ream to size and fit the inner pin (the latest are using a short piece of PTFE tube instead of packing the top cavity with PTFE plumbing tape (a real pain).

I'm also tinkering with a PA that runs just fine on car cords, thank you very much. It's one of the design goals. I posted a photo the other day, at the risk of giving Dreamer the vapors all over (interesting expression......) here's the photo:

It's still rough, of course, but working well so far. In fact, in the fun way these things sometimes work I was doing a heat run on it the other day using the genuine load (the hottest LL core I have) as the load. I had it 'wound out', cooking away (the load, not the PA which was still fine) when my adapter unsoldered itself! Just over 12 minutes into the run it shut down when the threaded part came loose from the nut. Glad it was on an aluminum plate.

That never happened before, my guess is the lower levels possible with batteries and normal airflow when you're using the core as opposed to letting it cook made the difference? No need to worry about anyone hitting an EO core non stop for 12 minutes......even a team of guys....unless Noah has a few brothers.

Anyway, this means the back end of the adapter was kissing up on 370F or so, makes me glad I stuck with PTFE for insulaton.....

My Cera just came back from repair along with my HP EVO core! Tried the EVO core and noticed the bottom piece where the battery connects is off axis but she still lights up and hits, ill shoot Tim A message to see if its a matter or not...

But Cera! oh Cera! She's gonna be put to the test all day :spliff: Ive got 7 batteries ready to go! one for every day of the week, haha. Ohhhhh.. and I dont know if they used it or not but I accidently sent in one of my 2250's when returning Cera and I noticed that the battery was charged and ready when I got her outta the box 10 mins ago...I have plenty back ups but it was nice of em to charge it, A big thanks to everybody at TET!
Oh I have the LL and the EO, the EO is lighting up fine (though I have nothing to put in her atm) and the LL is working and hitting like a champ:smug:..... I cant for the life of me find my misplaced MP cover though so.... Time for spring cleaning! lol

Edit: Question to OF or other brains; So since I have My EO core nice and dry, is it safe and Ok to use some E-juice in her until I get oils for her? I would of course clean the unit once more before putting the oils in If I do use the e-juice first.

I'm curious how batteries are working for people. I have three of the 2250 and rotate them. I find that a fresh battery gives me the easiest and fastest production. And since the charge is so quick, why not just start with a fresh battery for great results! But I'm curious how many of you are having good success with running one battery through multiple bowls. I can get it through 2 full bowls tops. But I hear some of you are getting around 6.

Is there a secret I need to know? Is it maybe my technique that needs refining? Is it all about vapeing a full bowl in under 3 minutes? Do I need to let the second run at the battery preheat longer to get to work like the first run?

Curious to see how you guys are using these batteries.

Steama - You are not dumb, just taking one for the team!

It does suck that some of us are without our units right now but at least they are turning them around super quick once they have them in hand. From what I saw/heard yesterday, they seem to be learning and adapting production to address issues very quickly. There is really nothing like it when it comes to materials and construction, trailblazing for sure.

I was going to order the SS with EO & LL carts this week.

Is it ok to order now ?

Or are their still problems to sort out ?

What's the wait time for orders at the moment ?

Peace x
