No offense to dv because I'm sure this will be a killer herb vape, but I don't see the purpose behind all this elaborate glass design to suit oil users that more than likely would rather just put a nail on their piece. I could see myself using this for herbs on a water pipe if it was easier than hooking up my extreme q to one (which it would be with a straight adaptor) but not for oil since the glass adaptor is breakable, it's harder to use and less portable than a nail or lava rock, and if it vapes oil anything like most vapes that aren't specifically designed for oil do (I could never use oil in a satisfying way in my davinci), it won't produce vapor like a dab would. The fact that the unit has to be standing up already makes using oil in it feel more like a user mod than an actual feature. Just my :2c:

Definitely still picking one up, just making the case for a straight adaptor. I also think you'd sell more straight adaptors.

Honestly, I loved your design BlueMonkey! It was the most creative and one of the coolest, absolutely. I even pushed for it, but at the end cost, ease of use and ease of manufacturing prevailed.

Ye?
Well cheers, i can appreciate that, a wise decision.
I guess the "That's cost effective" sentiment will always prevail over the "That would be awesome!" one.

Rightly so but still....... it would be awesome! ha ha
Keep up the good work

@cellardoor, some of us like the glass better then plastic for various reasons. I only do dry herb and glass is my preference. It taste cleaner, it is easier to clean, it feels better in my mouth, it cools the vapor better. I haven't broken any of my glass yet not to say I won't but it is fairly sturdier. It is no different then the glasses I drink out of or my dishes and bowls. The only issue would be if the glass was exposed like the solo stems then it wouldn't be safe in your pocket. With the solo you have to safe guard the stem. With the ascent it pushes into the unit to protect it. I think it gives us the best of both worlds.

I think blue monkey should get one made for him as a prize:clap:

I meant that the elaborate oil water pipe adaptor was more breakable than just a regular glass stem adaptor would be. I'm only talking about water pipe adaptors in my post. I was also saying that attaching the ascent to a pipe with oil isn't worth it because it's an additional glass piece that can be broken and it's much easier in my opinion to just use a nail or lava rock setup for concentrates on a water pipe. I just don't understand why the herb functionality, which to most customers will be the primary use of the device, is being compromised with such an elaborate water pipe adaptor specifically tailored to use oil through a water pipe (something a nail would be much better suited for in my opinion).

tl;dr: I just wish dv would try to optimize the device and accessories for herb since most people probably won't use it with oil anyway.

Edit: I also could be wrong and the Ascent could be the next big thing in concentrates but I don't think an herb vape will ever beat nails or portables optimized for oil.

cellardoor I don't think us leaf people are going to have an issue. It looks like the stem is the same as the solos for the most part so we won't need anything to adapt it to a water tool if we choose to do so. Do you remember if we got the OD/ID of the stem? I think maybe they got it in the contest thread. If it is the same as the solo or even close we have zero issues unless I am totally misunderstanding you. Only the oil people will need that adapter not us.

Meaning you could just pop some silicone on the stem and put it in a water pipe? I'm okay with that.

Seek, and yee shall find.

Thanks nigel, don't know how I missed the most comprised info posted on the unit to date!
I usually check this thread every couple of days.
Lately there's just a lot dedicated to glass.
It almost seems like they're putting the cart before the horse.
I just want an "Ascent", the accessories can always come later.
Come on DV, videos! Please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't even think you would need silicone if it doesn't work right in your water piece as is you just might need a ten buck reducer which you more then likely already have.

Dreamerr,
I was considering putting down "An additional Ascent" in the Other category.

I'm guilty of that...but I also checked the herb gong adapter on the slim chance that that doesn't work out for me... ;);)DV.

New poster here but have been following the thread religiously for quite some time. Super excited of course. My only question was about the 1.3 g dry herb that the chamber can supposedly hold. Just judging by the dimensions and the usage video I'm having a hard time seeing myself cram 1.3 gs in there. Hopefully a second video will make it easier to tell.

Vaping is a way of life!
I have an equal amount of 14mm and 18mm pieces, now........ what about a straight PTFE or some type of high temp material than can taper in a way 1 adapter can fit both 14mm & 18mm, maybe some high temp O rings as well!!!! The ascent already has a glass bowl and glass tube running up the unit ,IMHO one adapter at the end thats not glass would probably not effect flavor!!!!

On a side note, the device isn't even out yet and people are already talking like they tested the unit, lets just wait and see what it can do before we knock it!!!!

If this thing hits as hard as it looked on the video with herbs, & it can possibly rival my cera EO with oils.............then it would for sure will replace my nail!!!!!!! Especially for portability, thats what were talking about, right?:2c::tup:

Took the survey as well. Voted straight GonG adapter, but if I could take it back I would vote other and put down either a decent grinder, or car charger.

Which also lead me to another idea. What if the charger was a USB cable that attached to a wall adapter. Then you could easily charge the Ascent anywhere. A lot of friends, including myself, have usb outlets in their car, you can also get a cheap car plug in device that has usb outlets on them. I'm not talking about using the device while driving. I do go camping a lot with no electricity, and there are many other scenarios I could think of that make car charging useful. Forget about charging it in your car though, you could charge the Ascent from a laptop, from a video game system (which would be awesome, If I plug in one extra thing in my family room, usually the electricity tends to shut off), and I could make use out of all my extra usb wall adapters lying around (I tend to misplace them a lot so I have a bunch of spares).

Apologize in advance to anyone whose already asked/came up with this.

Think I remember da Vinci saying they intended to allow for usb, but it was not feasible,
I might be confused, it was a while back now

I was worried this could be an issue, maybe not powerful enough. Now that you mention it I think I sorta remember too, don't really have time to go fishing through 67 pages though :\

Ok, I promise that this will be the last you guys hear from me on this topic, but back on March 7th, this was posted up:

So, it is now over a month later and since the time that the above was originally posted, I posted up 3 or 4 times hinting about where the Haiku contest was without getting any replies other than there was a show that needed to be completed first but that show has been over for awhile now. So?? Where's da Haiku?

I promise DV. I will not mention again.......Just give us a hint as to when this is gonna happen, k? Thanks........

I'm sure they are very busy trying to get this vape out asap. I would rather they spend there time doing that than judging some silly contest. I'm sure you will get your contest in due time but give them a break they appear to be working very hard to make this product the way WE want it. Which they can't be give enough credit for.

I noticed on your site that the warranty is 2 years, but only 90 days for the batteries.
Will replacing the batteries require us to ship the unit back for service?
If so, how much will that cost and what is the estimated turn around time?
