I think 14mm is a lot more logical for a portable piece.. 18mm joints are usually found on larger pieces and are typically used for combustion and desktop vapes. A portable usually calls for portable glass, where small bubblers w/ 14mm joints are much more prevalent. So while most people OWN more 18mm glass, the better question is what are people more likely to USE with a small portable, and in my humble opinion 14mm wins hands down
you made several valid statements in the type of usage that will be most probable. i for one didn't views this in this light, i hope dv will take this into consideration sense it is a portable device that we the consumers are seeking

also it is easier, and neater to use a 18 to 14 reducer on larger pieces than it is to use a 14 to 18 which will add an extra inch or so of height to the joint

I have a feeling they're releasing both guys, I think dv may have just wanted an idea of how many of each size to get for pre registration.

Toros had a REALLY good point, most oil heads I know use the direct inject male pieces so that oil adaptor could end up being a pain for them.

Both options should be available IMO, my first bubbler was 14mm and how I have the HT which is 18mm

I have the infamous and it is small and 18 so the small with small joint argument is wrong unless I don't know what the heck I am talking about and that wouldn't surprise me. A ten buck reducer is easier to get if you have a smaller joint.

Exactly vaped....if we have an 18 female water piece then we just need a reducer if they make a 14 male correct?

That's how I'm seeing it. Makes the most sense to me.

On a side note: DV, tomorrow is my 30th birthday and I would really like an ascent! But since I know that's not happening, how's about that good usage video? Pretty please!

Just make 14's and include a low pro 14 to 18 adapter. It'll fit pretty much everything then.
love the idea of including it. for a relatively low cost ($10 retail and I'm sure far cheaper wholesale) to be able to say the water attachment will work with any 14 or 18 piece with the included reducer is marketing gold. I can only imagine it is cheaper to only have to manufacture one size instead of 2.

Ok, I promise that this will be the last you guys hear from me on this topic, but back on March 7th, this was posted up:

I'm happy to bring you guys 2 contests and so glad that you all came up with the Haiku one on your own..but it is not conducive to us to run 2 concurrently.

Besides, the first one fills a need that I have ...so maybe I'm being selfish. But the end result is the same- 2 contests, 2 winners.

So, it is now over a month later and since the time that the above was originally posted, I posted up 3 or 4 times hinting about where the Haiku contest was without getting any replies other than there was a show that needed to be completed first but that show has been over for awhile now. So?? Where's da Haiku?

I promise DV. I will not mention again.......Just give us a hint as to when this is gonna happen, k? Thanks........

Skeptical of what, exactly?

Skeptical that there is more than one functioning device. Skeptical that they need a photoshoot for a vaporizer. Skeptical because they post CGI videos and terrible usage videos that are intentionally devoid of details. I'll prob get permabanned for this, but I do not give a fuck. This forum has become one giant marketing tool.

While it's a fact that this forum does provide some marketing opportunities for manufacturers, to imply that this is all it is, is TOTALLY off base and if you spent any time here at all, you would know that. I've been in the marketing game for decades and I am the MOST active member here. Do you honestly think that I would waste my time here if this site was just what you implied that it is?

OK, fair enough, its just when they have threads on vapes that do not exist yet or no one owns yet. that is all marketing, and should be in a different forum section

Explain to me how this forum became a "marketing tool" ? Was it when manufacturers were allowed to sign up and post about THEIR product? Or is it when they answer questions that we have...? God forbid the manufacturers make a sale because they were here to answer questions and give advice/help. This has got to be the most well-put-together vape forum ever. Beats a number of other cannabis communities, too. And did you notice the ads all over the site? Oh, you didn't? That's because there are no ads on the site, save for three sponsor vape store links at the bottom of the pages.

Big ol' marketing tool here...

If it was marketing then we wouldn't be able to abuse, I mean ask a trillion questions and get answers. This is the only site I come to and like it just the way it is.

Now for our beautiful ascent sooooooooooooooooooon it will be ours hehehehehe

Hey did i miss adobewan's reaction to his design coming to fruition,
This does fit the general idea/design, don't think it needed to be that long, but i guess this allows for a variety of devices.
I'd be interested to see where the balance point ends up with this, the ascent will likely have a fair weight to it batteries and all,
added to the fact that they made it open-able while connected kinda make's you wanna leave it in, this could be risky for those with small pieces ...... ha

Still being unable to get oils, and as I'm very unlikely to try and make my own, this is not something i need. Like others have said a simple straight adapter would fit all our needs, glad to hear they will endevour to make one, this FC member LEE had the idea:

ascente.jpg

You could even just make a 14/18 adapter to slip on the stock stem,
just like in the picture but just the end piece maybe with a couple embedded rubber rings on the inside to prevent sticking and make it more secure,(you will be inverting it after all)
but they would be covered when fully on the stem to maintain that "all glass" claim

Happy day's though glad to hear steady progress is being made.

On another note, i dunno if anybody saw my flexi glass system in the ascent contest,
but i got pretty carried away and loved designing it,
kinda bummed i didn't win..... still,
But i might just get all entrepreneurial and make it, been chasing up some manufacturer's, though it may never get off the ground,
I'll at least have one prototype for my own use for when i get my ascent, not sure when it will reach these shores though

I'll post progress i make with it, it could be awesome, or riddled with crippling issues

roll on ascent, till then, turn on the solo

Honestly, I loved your design BlueMonkey! It was the most creative and one of the coolest, absolutely. I even pushed for it, but at the end cost, ease of use and ease of manufacturing prevailed.
