Discontinued VapeXhale Cloud

I need someone to assuage a paranoid thought I keep having, please tell me why I'm mistaken. I use my cloud upside-down exclusively, and I can't stop thinking that if something internally was off-gassing anything nasty, that it would be sucked directly into the end of the bamboo, like a domeless nail.
yJpCTEx.jpg

My last unit had a silicone ring, as well as some sort of insulation, but the plus is a straight open shot straight from the wires and heater core, to the largest gap in the unit which is a millimeter away from the air intake. I'm not put off of using it, I just keep having this nagging little worry.

Cost benefit analysis of the store credit offer for Australian customers:
(I assume this will be similar for other intl users...)

Option 1: local distributor
Buy from http://www.australianvaporizers.com.au/store/vapexhale-cloud.html
Purchase either mouthpiece package, or a hydratube package.
Free express shipping
Total cost
Mouthpiece - $495
Hydratube - $689

Option 2: buy direct from VXC
Buy from https://www.vapexhale.com/index.php/store/browse/vaporizer-packages
I'm assuming approx $60 shipping, so my final figures will vary depending on shipping
Total cost
Mouthpiece - $509
Hydratube - $660

My opinion on those prices:
If you don't want a hydratube, its a wash, buying direct will cost a tiny bit more, and take longer to get here, but you get the 8 free elbs.

If you do want a hydratube, absolutely buy from VXC.
It's $30 cheaper, plus you get the 8 free elbs and you get the $225 store credit (if you pre-ordered)

My :2c:
(The hydratube I used for both of those prices was the VXC 2.0 hydracirc)

Edit:
I didn't allow for currency conversion, but $AUD, and $USD are basically interchangeable these days.

Firstly you're going off the prices for the non-international version of the cloud.
Vapexhale said they are not going to be selling under the MSRP or whatever.
So in the end + shipping i believe it's supposed to cost the same as it would from a vendor locally.
They decided to do this so it was fair across all vendors. Any vendor selling under that price you see on ausvapes apparently voids warranty. Also i reckon if you want 1 hydratube then you might as well get it from australia vaporizers.. however if you want 2 then i recommend getting through vapexhale.

Yeah, I assumed the intl version will cost the same as the regular version...
if it ends up being more :\...
My understanding of the MSRP thing was that they sell at MSRP, and vendors must also sell for at least that.

It must be fate. I've been meaning to send in my Cloud for the plus upgrade, but I've been putting it off because.... well, I'm lazy.

I just clipped my nails and was having a hard time pulling out my ELB. First the cap came off, the while struggling with the rest of it, it came out and did a 180 in mid air. ABV dumped into the bamboo and BAM! instant combustion. Fuckin' smoke everywhere and coming out of both ends of the bamboo.

I've had this unit for about a year and this is the first instance of combustion (totally the fault of my newly cut fingernails). Then I realized that it needed to be serviced anyways, so I decided... Fuck it... let StoneMonkey get the smokey taste out... this baby's going in for a re-furb.

Ugh, the misalignment is really bugging me... shouldn't have checked in... for the price I would expect it to be aligned properly at least. I know it doesn't affect function, but still.

Can i see a picture if you haven't uploaded one already, i think mine is misaligned too.

The build quality is the main reason I'm holding off! For that type of money would expect a better finish, shame otherwise seems like a decent machine

I don't own one, which is why I made that "checking in" comment. Like smokie said, I want one, but not a misaligned one when I'm dropping close to half a grand.

I just went to look at mine, since I use it inverted all the time on my Ion. I have a pre+ unit that is nearly perfectly aligned and has the black rubber gasket, so I don't have this issue (wondered why I hadn't thought of it before since it is in my face when I vape). I think you have a valid concern regarding the gap and the possibility of something coming out. What I can't think of, however, is what could off gas. Based on pics in this thread there isn't much more than a power chord to a circuit board to a regulator (power dial) and then to a giant ceramic heat sink. So I can't think of anything that would concern me (doesn't mean it's not there, just that I can't think of anything). Maybe wire insulation breaking down someday? While possible, I think it would be rare. The good news is that you would see it given the way you vape, but I like to relax when I vape, not watch something that I hope doesn't happen. I wonder if the black rubber gasket is indicative of a different model or if it is mixed in with all models.

My July 2012 model does not have the rubber gasket, though the opening is much smaller than pictured above. I believe that was a later feature. :2c:

Neither my March or July models have the gasket, which I don't think was really a gasket - I think it was a retaining ring for stabilizing the bamboo, am improvement over the original flare formed on the bamboo. In any event, there was never a seal at the bottom; the alignment of the casing halves is not a factor in this respect. Nor AFAIK any insulation around the bamboo at the bottom - it's a tight fit, with the board in front of the bamboo and the power cord/strain relief behind it. Off the board are small wires that attach the heater, which wraps the bamboo chamber (between knob and joint) and is encased in an insulator jacket. IMHO off-gassing is way, way down the worry list here.

I want to say that when I originally got my Cloud+ i needed to keep it almost at 3:00 but then something weird started happening just recently. As in, I was getting black ABV (not combustion though). So I'm back down to around 1:00 and it's working amazing. I have been using the Cloud+ a lot more recently, cause the last batch of stuff I had was not that good, maybe I worked it out good now  . I have no idea, I'm just bullshitting.

To get to the point, I'm high as hell, and I love my Cloud+.

I have noticed that i can turn down the cloud plus from 3 or 4 to around 2 after it has been on for a while and I get the same quality vapor.... maybe that's what occurred?

You think mayb we can buy some type of rubber ring that would seal that or at least close the gap a little? Mayb at Home Depot

I've been so excited about receiving my cloud back , the last thing I want is a potential issue there. Such a minor concern but don't want to take any chances. Lets be honest most of us are vaping because its one of the healthiest ways. So inhaling any inner gasses would defeat that purpose

Nope... I've noticed that my ABV has been a bit lighter, maybe I just got tired of being too high on the knob. I'm not sure exactly what happened to be honest, but I'm quite happy around the 1:00/1:15 mark right now :-).

Spent the whole afternoon/evening taking fairly small (at first anyway) dry hits from the Cloud for the first time ever: I don't have a standard mouthpiece, I'm just pulling through my dry Swagger Circ...and...it's amazing!

The beautiful flavour... the clean, long-lasting, euphoric high... not a hint of a cough or tickle...

This surely is the greatest vaporizer on the planet.

This happened to me before my first Cloud crapped out. All of a sudden it was running hotter and I had to turn it down a couple notches to get the vapor I was used to. Then I had a couple intermittent nights where the Cloud wouldn't heat up. And then finally, it completely died and failed to ever heat up. Hopefully your unit doesn't head down the same path.

hehehehe........it says boobies! Boing!

Anyway, just got home from a business trip and obviously when walking in the house to my wife I kids, I (of course) did what any good husband would do. I told my family to excuse me, said I had to poop, locked myself in the bathroom and spent sometime with the cloud and jedi OG!!!

Just in case any of you were wondering - I really didn't have to poop.

You keep your Cloud in the bathroom?

Thanks for taking the time to reply, I thought my concern was valid enough to at least mention. This is a warranty replacement, the cloud I originally had was constructed with no air gap to give me a reason to worry.
I hope the company takes note: Most consumers would rather just see a solidly manufactured product than hear about how all the wiring is safe to repeatedly heat and inhale.

*gulp* She took a little fall to the carpet, everything seems to be fine now except one thing... the glass bamboo seemed to have moved just a tiny bit because now my Cloud doesn't sit level. What should I do? Should I try pushing it back into its original place? Will that cause damage? :/
