If you are using a hand held wand with standard HC.. you will notice that the hole on the HC is much smaller. I find that I just have to draw slowly and maneuver the wand "hither and to" and I can toast the load as dark as I choose. If I do not move the standard wand around, the spot I concentrate on can be almost black.. and even brought to combustion!

Comment.
The Hand Held Wand and Standard HC SSV is still my daily driver and preferred tool!

Yeah that is what I am using well and it works great! I did notice as well that if I didn't move the want around I would get a dark bull's eye where the hot air was hitting. I've combusted 3 times, so I know the heat is there, just a matter of getting what I need. I will continue to work on my draw speed and see what happens. I do know that each time I've used it I've gotten better with controlling combustion and getting my flowers to the desired color.

I have to say, I'm not sure there is anything finer than throwing an episode of QI on the WiiU, cracking a window for a fresh breeze, throwing a little lemongrass incense on, and lounging on the couch using the SSV. Heavenly!

How does this oil rig work? I saw the video but that was a DBV. Why would the SSV not be okay as a full time oil rig, Vito? I don't have a DBV so I'm hoping to make do with my SSV. My SSV has been in the bag ever since I got my LSV.

I've only used a torch style oil rig a couple of times at my buddy's house. I just use oil as a bowl topper on a bed of herb right now because I can't really explain a blowtorch in the house. Will this be on par with that type of oil rig?

I did not say it would not be OK.
I said I preferred the setup on the DBV, as I like my Ti-Nail (the cup) to sit straight up and down, rather than at angle...
I couldbe dead wrong on this and the angle could turn out to be favorable to those that try...
I was only expressing skepticism as result of reluctance to change.

I see. I suppose I will have to live with it being off kilter. By the way, I'm confused. They mention using the flavor discs on the SSV site, but it doesn't look like he's using one in that DBV video. Which way works better? The ceramic would act as a heat diffuser, I suppose, but I'm not sure why you'd need to do so?

Also, is this essentially a handsfree wand? Should I use a metal clip? I have only used the standard wand and heater cover.

I do not like using the ceramic flavor disc for a couple of reasons.
It slows down the hit some so that I can not get it all in one breath,
and...
on occasion, the wax on the dabber, in spite of the great heat coming from the disc, will stick for just a second to the disc, and move it slightly off balance so that it is no longer flat in the cup.

I just got two of my friends ripped on .08 gm of strawberry cough, just barely covered screen, with some sour diesel kief! Through my two footer with seed beads as a diffuser, they were blowing clouds with 5+ ft vapor trails! Mine is a gg with shims, a rough sparkling purple with same style, but silver, base. Looks and hits like a champ! I've talked myself into another bowl!:science:

I was looking into buying a portable vaporizer but as i was checking craigslist i saw a posting for a silver surfer gently used with bag and everything for 100 bucks. So i bought it. I cant wait till i can try it out. I haven't gotten the chance to read much of this forum but i can tell how much you guys like it.

How would you say the hits compare to a Herbalaire because that was my old vape before it got stolen out of my car.

You are waiting for a vaporizer to arrive that has been "America's Sweetheart" since the day of her conception.
Good move~

Wow I probably ran about 7 bowls in this thing so far and all I have to say is wow. It is all I thought it would be and more. Obviously it wont create the amount if visible clouds as smoke, but i can feel that they are just as potent.I took it over to a friends house and we ran it through his convict glass multi perc water pipe and it was pretty much milking it.
The vaping experience is something to enjoy with the ssv. Everything is just top of the line about this vape and it is beautiful. I can't say enough about this vape and its the first day I've had it.

Seriously considering getting an Aqua Vape to hook up to my SSV, Just wondering if anybody has any experience of using one of these with an SSV and what they think of them, Good or bad i would be interested to hear.

Also, Does anybody know if it would hook straight up to my SSV whip (I have spherical ground glass connection) or would i need to add a different size piece of tube or adapter etc..??

Appreciate any info you can give. Scotty

Hey guys, I'm thinking about buying a SSV. I was looking at them on EBay, and I saw a bunch listed for under $200 but they all said "Blemished" in the description. Any idea what that means?

There is a minor defect that doesn't effect the unit itself, such as a scrape in the paint or a nick in the metal etc. 7th floor actually sells them look for ones that carry the warranty 3 years, I believe.

I have bought well over a dozen blemished SSVs.
Only those with a very astute and critical eye can spot the defect.

I was wondering how you guys like the ceramic flavor disks with essential oils. Is it worth buying?

I am interested in them too! I use doublers from tastyvapor.us and just drop it on top of herb. Check out the Vaporizables thread the one pinned at the top is what I believe you might be looking for...

I am not too crazy about the ceramic flavor discs.
They are not made to use with essential oils (which one should not vaporize.. but use for aromatherapy), but rather with vapable concentrates.(or flavors or ejuices like those "doublers")
They do fit down in the wand, and can be used with wax/oil but they are a bit more porous than is ideal.. and the "pores' are large, so oils flow through very fast.
On a bed of ABV they work also....
They fit into the TiNail portion of the DBV /SSV Oil rigs.... and there also I am not too crazy about them... they seem to slow the oil volatilization up so I can not get the dab all in one hit... and then on occasion the dabber with it's wax will stick to it, and lift it from it's thrown to a cockeyed position, in the Titanium cup... leaving you with a half cocked red hot ceramic disc to be contended with.
They are fun to experiment with however...

Took my heater cover off today and noticed that the piece of metal under the heating element is quite badly bent. Hopefully it is not a sign of mishandling.

Out of curiosity I emailed 7th Floor about the pockets being upside down in the bag. I figured they would give a "Sorry, but its not covered under warranty" response and was OK with that being the case. Just wanted to interact with them to see what they were like.

I ended up in a discussion with a rep named Chris who lied and backtracked 3 times before he stopped replying altogether. First he said I had a different version of the bag than they were selling on their website (I don't). Then he said that I had the same model of bag but an earlier version where the pockets were put in upside down. Then he said that the pockets being upside down was the newer version, and based on the pictures I had sent (I never sent any pictures at all so I've no idea what he is referring to) that's the version I had.

It was a truly bizarre customer service experience as there was absolutely no reason for him to backtrack repeatedly and make things up. All I was looking for was a "Hey, sorry, that sucks but its not covered under warranty but if you have any problem with your vaporizer itself don't hesitate to call us."

What I got was passive aggressive bullshit from someone who should not be working in customer service. I sincerely hope I do not have a serious issue requiring further interaction with them.

Fwiw my pockets are "upside down" but i presumed they were designed like this because when the bag is closed the bottom of the bag sits on the entrance to the pockets sealing it and when you open the bag you have your wand pocket facing up to give easier access.

And I can understand that if it is indeed the case. My wife is being nice and re-stitching the pickets. I was thinking of just doing some really small ones for the wand and mouth piece that were horizontal and seeing if that worked at all, just to mess around.

I really do like this device a lot so far. The only problem being that my use has gone way up since receiving it, haha.

The piece of metal... is called a shim, and most have a very distinct fold or bend on one corner, and it is made to "bent' and hand warped to shape to snuggly fit. There was nothing wrong with that.
I order 2-3 SSVs a month for community members.. and have for 3 years.
Almost all SSV bags have a pouch that is upside down. That is the way they come. The one or two that have the pockets the other way are the exceptions.
Congrats on your SSV... there will be plenty of smooth "riding of the wave" in your future!

Package from 7th floor came in yesterday I picked up an old style aroma top on close out, shipping was as much as the top so I got a new pick. My old one has been dropped and abused so the marble was cracked so I added one to the order.

The top is great it acually improved the heat output on my ssv by over 2 hours, i knew my unit was running cool but hadnt adjusted it cause it still worked cranked up high. When i put the aroma top on it pushed the heat cover forward closer to the air inlet hole increasing the heat output greatly  The wax it came with smelled good and worked well. Really happy with it so far and a steal for the price especially if you need a few other misc accessories.

Cool stuff! I have two aroma tops and use them daily. Also if you need pokers again check out vapornation they have 7th floors picks but free shipping over ten dollars. I just ordered some of these http://www.ebay.com/itm/290870369831?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649 , I will let you know how they work. I love the way it keeps the unit warmer when left on and an aroma top above! Can let it sit around 2 and crank it up or down depending on what I want to accomplish...
