Discontinued Vapir NO2

RUDE BOY

Space is the Place
I recently got a Vapir NO2 and am blown away by it. ..........

Maybe I should start around 320 & scale the temperature up a bit after each hit to ensure maximum efficiency.

dementyev, welcome to FC . I don't think there is such a great loss of vapor in the NO2 due to conduction as long as your taking a hit every minute or two when its running.

I do like to vape at a lower temp then 400F I start around 350 and go up to the 390s the lower temps
give ya a better taste imo also longer sessions, most of the time my NO2 is set at 367F-373F depending on the herb. Play with the temp and find your sweet spot. Enjoy your new vape.

Maybe I should start around 320 & scale the temperature up a bit after each hit to ensure maximum efficiency. Anyone have any experience or observations about this question of efficiency and dual functioning conduction/convection devices?

I used this one for 2 years , and its great.
of course its not a 10/10 vapor quality , but its a very good price/quality ratio.

i used to start around 335 , and never went over 357 .
i vaped concentrate and plant material.
i found that if you block those vent holes with your hand when you inhale ,the vapor is thicker.

overall its a good starter vape.

Know thyself
This is my review of the Vapir No2, soon as I can I´ll post a video. In resume the troubleshooting, plastic taste, laborious cleaning routine, and my personal problem with the product (melted rubber), oil build up making opening harder, having to open the cap and blowing sticked herb that clogs upper metal screen for better vaporization, the ocasional burning of herb (really black material and strong smell), made me conclude that there are more trustable brands and products in the market. And most of all, made me completely not recommend No2 to new or veteran vaper. I wish I had vaped earlier in my life, I´m a 10 year ex-smoker, and that I had read about vaping products earlier as discovered this forum earlier. I respect that some had success with the product, but as I´ve understood safety is a basic rule in health, and based on some users accounts on this and others foruns, a melting device is even worst than combusting medicice. Here is my overview of it. I´m very technical, nothing is perfect.

Appeareance:
- Big size for a portable, looks like a water bottle.
- not all pockets can fit the device, and once inside your pocket size can make it evident, no joke, looks like you have a ´big´toy in your pocket, so that made me ashamed in some occasions. lol . Don´t use jeans...and put this on you pocket. lol
- looks like you´re drinking something
- all my friends said it looked like a dildo and other like a 'Xuxa´ microphone (brazilian television children entertainer- Google Images: microfone Xuxa [lol!!!])
- tested it walking on public, no problems, yet the size gave me some troubles making it fit in some pants that had shorter pockets.

Size of the chamber and the No2:
- chamber size:
- No2 size without tube:
I made this 1:1 drawing wich you can print and cut, so before buying, can help you to know how big it is, and see chamber size, to simulate how much herb it can handle.

GENERAL Tips:
- if you loose the little spoon wich is very handy to measure 3/4 of herb, you can use epoxy putty. Cut a small circular flat pizza shape, put it in the tip of you little finger and mold it. Create the stick also with a flat square, cut the handle out of the square and glue it to the spoon while epoxy is fresh.

- If you break the bamboo stick, you can still keep using it, since it will still have a point that can help to remove the lower screen, or even buy a bamboo cuticle pusher.
- use a black tape over buttons and LCD if you will, than can help it to make it more stealth, some people suggested earlier putting No2 inside a big non transparent plastic water bottle.

Cleaning Tips:
- clean at at least every week if you´re a heavy user, to avoid screen clog and oil build up, that could affect taste, and vapor quality, make pulls easier. The right thing I do believe is each day, also to not let oil and herb residue build up inside the device making it hard to open, since it sticks.
- I found a way to make horrible dirty screens seen as brand new. Just use a toothbrush to clean the metal screens, rinse in tap water while brushing. HAVE PATIENCE, the more you brush, the more oil residue will come out. If you still cannot get that sticky oil out, dip it in alcohol for a night, and repeat brushing procedure under tap water. Also scratching the net metal surface with my nails seemed to work perfectly in some hadcore cases. Oil came out under my nail. So that will avoid that you keep buying packs of screens.
- Heat the No2 a bit, it´ll be easier to remove the sticky oil from inside the upper cap with dry q-tip, when oil becomes hot=liquid. I found that brushing from inside out with the Q-tip to be more efective on removing internal oil on the upper cap.
- use q-tips and alcohol to clean the inside parts.

- If the brass chamber has black residue, use the back of the bamboo stick and scratch the surface. In some cases bambood did nor work a used a scissor, gently scraping.
- Carefull on using chemical products on the plastic body, some could harm the device, but wich ones ? since Vapir does not indicate what is good what it not for cleansing.

Vaping Tips with No2:
- after it reached the temperature I wait a 2 minutes to make it warm. Even after the first 3 or 4 pulls, the vapor is not dense, because the heat need to penetrate all the material. On 180 ºC it takes more time, and on 190ºC the dense vapour cloud comes after the third draw, so beware if you like higher temperatures, do not let it sit to long.
- after some pulls, during vaping session, open the top cap and blow away the herb that sticks on upper metal screen, I noticed after that procedure I had thicker vapor and better pull.

- Stir the herbs with the bamboo and/or gently shake/tap the No2 to make herb move inside so more dense vapor clouds will come.
- I think sometimes the device heats too much. In the exact moment you feel it taste like burnt, drop it immediatly to something like 180ºC, open cap, stir the herbs, so you can still enjoy the herb that is left and avoid the burning. Taste normally came back after I did that procedure avoiding buring and loosing material as some people reported that problem.
- As recommended use the spoon to measure the herb quantity, it´s a perfect 3/4. I theorize that a chamber full of herb could lead to stopping air flow and burning consequently the herb (or a faulty system overheating bug?). It´s really harder to pull when the chamber is full to the top, and seens that less vapor comes out according to my experiences.
- If the herb is dry, beggin to a lower temperature and work gradually up, since it´s seens the No2 is hotter than other devices as pointed out by some reviews on youtube. Moister, raise it.
- if you vape on public use lower temperatures like maximum 180ºC so you can go more stealth.

Battery Tips:
- Higher temperatures make battery power end faster.
- on battery mode it´s normal to be slower to reach desired temperature, don´t be alarmed. Also as some users reported after a strong pull, rapid temperature drop will occur, like 3 or 8 ºC bellow. When it´s on Ac/Dc that never happened to me.
- When using No2 indoors you can plug it on Ac/dc. Avoid using the battery too much, the less you use it the longer it will last. So take it out of the device if you can plug it on the wall. Batteries have cycles, less you use, more it will last.
- I bought a regular car charger wich is way cheaper than official Vapir car charger. You can find it anywhere for a very cheap price.
- Car charger helps a lot if you plan using it outdoors, but charging is much slower than pluggin it to ac/ cd wall adapter.
- In the need of going outdoors, plan on the use of the device and previously prepare the batteries fully charged.
-Don´t fully trust you battery indicator, many accounts report that it can mislead. I let my off the No2 fully charged, but before going outdoors with it, I give it a final charge, because I suspect battery ran slowly.

Pros:
- I accidentaly let the No2 drop in the ground, like 6 times, nothing happened.
- vapor seens consistent.
- no smell on my room after vaping, just an scent that hapidly vanish. I had neighbour complains because I was heavily smoking on my apartment. Vaping save my health and gave me peace use my medicine.
- you can smoke while charging

Problems:
- Vaping quality, Vapir No2 general functionality, is related directly to cleansing. To keep it working right, make good cluds, and not have a burning residue glued to the internal walls, and parts, a religious cleaning is needed. For daily vaping as I was doing, 10 sessions a day at least, at least after 3 days of using, and best if every day. Obstructed screen make pulling harder and won´t make good clouds.
- You have to clean the 2 metal screens, wich is a bit tedious in my oppinion. For good clouds and taste you become dependant of cleansing of the screens, and the whole internal chamber/parts. So brushing is necessary to remove residues in upper and lower screen after each individual session/use. Only blowing won´t remove some sticky herb. So be prepared to keep cleaning it religiously with the brush to remove sticked abv on the screens, and brass chamber.
- Besides the 2 metal screens, the internal chamber, the top cap, and the detachable plastic rings the holds uppers screen. So if you buy it keep in mind that you´ll spend lot of time cleaning it. See the Picture what parts I´m talking about:

- As mentioned before on this thread, there´s empty space behind the buttons, that could make battery go up, so No2could be smaller and more stealth and easily pocket fitable .
- battery only lasts 1 hour, sometimes a little bit more. I had several experiences that I took the No2 to friends house, and battery ran out, so I whenever I had to vape on other ppl´s house, I had to take the Ac/Dc power adaptor with me ! That is not so ´portable´.
- Ac/Dc cable has 74cm length, I wish it where 2meters (considering 1 hr battery...) -> Many times I took No2 to friends house battery ran out and I plugged Ac adapter to the wall, and in some cases it was awkward because people needed to be very close to the wall plug. At home I could use a chord extension, but not on other peoples house. So cable length would help to compensate that problem, wich makes the use o Ac/Dc Adapter an obligation to mantain battery, or vape session when battery runs out.
- Ac/dc cable connection to VApir No2 sometimes easily disconnects, specially if you´re with friends doing a vaping session, and battery is not full, or ended, so I have to plug it in on power adaptor. Again the 1 hour battery is related to the Ac/dc power adaptor.
- sometimes the upper screens get loose, consequences:
- aspirate somes herb, little particles get inside the mouth
- you are obligated to fix it with your hands making your finger smell like herb, as if you just smoked a joint. So beware if you take the No2 work, or have a professional meeting, and accidentaly metal screens get loose and you have to reposition it with you fingers. Wash your hands after touching inside parts, oil is very very smelly.
- smell / taste of plastic on first times
- if you´re not rigorous with cleaning, everyday or at least once week, oil (ear wax) could stick in the little holes of the metal screen mesh, making it very very hard to remove if you´re lazy on cleansing. You must scrap with nail or a metal wich can eventualy make holes in the net, needing to buy new ones. If you not clean it often, screen gets obstructed and as I theorize heat build on because there´s no airflow ending up in burned herb (and maybe burned internal components? as my inner rubber ring).
- Excess of edgy corners in the internal chambers, so it´s easier to sticky residue and small particles of grinder herb to deposit on those sides making difficult to screw and unscrew (open and close cap), also harder to clean. I resolve this by heating the device so the sticky oil melts, making it easier to open the top cover or internal part for cleaning. Use a pointed device to remove particles in those parts. In future project make less edges and/or more rounded.See picture above wich I signeled some of those corners.
- Since it´s 1h of battery (some say even 1h30m), if you plan to go outdoors, I noticed I beggan to be really picky/paranoical on outdoor usage. Practical personal experience: every sunday I go to a park and stay 4 hs or more there, reading, playing guitar, so I have to remind me how long I´ve vaped, so I can enjoy more sessions while I´m there. It´s a bit annoying and frustranting having to rethink that (when to use once outdoors + how much time/battery left for more vaping sessions).
- Vapir does not indicates how to properly clean the device, and with wich type of material or even wich cleaning product we can use. TOTAL FAIL. Could lead to people using corrosive products damaging the device and eventually could cause harm to peoples health.
- Manual ilustrations are tiny and not clear, making it difficult to understand how to unscrew all parts. Vapir should make a official video on how to clean the device.
- Also as some reported, the lower metal screen sometimes is hard to remove, you got to give it a few tries.
- On of my bamboo stick broke very easily, since the tip of it is very fine. In an effort to remove the lower screen it broke. Nedless to say you can use any other improvised tool to remove the lower screen, so avoid buying new ones. Vapir should make a unique piece using of a stronger material so you don´t have the disapointing experience of breaking those bamboo sticks or buying new ones.
- If you buy bellow the $179,99, you don´t get warranty. Why the hell they sell below $ 179 ?
- No indication on the manual that the brush that comes with No2 melts if you try to clean the device while it´s hot. So plastic sticks on the chamber !!!! That is very dangerous. So why the hell Vapir gave us a potentially dangerous material to clean their device and don´t warn us ? You can smoke fumes from melted bristle !! Mine melted see pic, as some users also reported.

- Worst problem of No2: My No2 rubber ring melted. I noticed that ocasionally, I did not see it happening. So I probably smoked those fumes ! ZOOM it for better view.

- Crazy temperature readings in some rare occasions. In brazilian forum growroom.net, a No2 owner posted a video of a problem that some other people also reported in this and other boards
(could this be the problem with burning herb, or making the rubber melt?):

THEORY WHY IT MELTED :
Possible problems that could lead to the melting of the No2 parts, or even burnt smell or plastic smell and burnt herb:
- Could be: Screens are obstructed (clog) by herb resin or small particle so when there´s no air flow, temperature raises as in a oven, and goes beyond 204ºC (400ºF), eventually melting the rubber, and burns herb.

- Could be that the finner the herb it´s grinded the easier it´s it to clog air flow on both screens.

- Or could be: Thermostat goes crazy, no matter if the screen is non obstructed, temperature rises too much, and melts rubbers, and burns herb.
- Or themostat goes crazy because screen is obstructed, heat builds up, and since it cannot display temperatures above 400ºF it simple goes crazy, up and down, as in the video.
Symptoms:
The few times the herb was burned, it became black, taste was awfull and on the upper screen there was a lot of fine grinded herb that seens to have created a wall avoiding heat passage, ABC was also black.
When that happened, temperature sensor went wild, from 165ºC to 198ºC and so on up and down in seconds. See above videos as factual example.

In resume, either is the lack of cleansing that leads to screens clog, so temperature build up, as heat pressure cannot get out. Either some official and non-official Vapir No2 models have faulty heater/thermostate that aleatory sometimes heats up way beyond 400ºF, again making it a dangerous product for health, since rubber melting occurs.

In any case I do conclude despite some users being happy with it, it has some project problems concerning cleansing, size, stealthiness, battery duration/stability/indicator. And in the worst scenario, as happened to me, a fact that it has a rubber inside the chamber ! And mine melted !

As I stated in the beggining of my review I do not recommend this device since people around the world report melting of the rubber ring on official and "non official" Vapir no2´s. Everything that I complained on this review becomes really really small next to these melting issue. As in the very start of this topic, some people pointed out, I don´t think I´ll trust Vapir from now one, lot´s of things that could be fixed/optimized.
Sorry for the long post.

Or, maybe you stuffed the chamber too full.

I've had no trouble with mine, whatsoever, if I don't try to pack more into the chamber than will loosely fit.

..........Vapir NO2.....
Wow.
I have so much to say I do not know where to begin.
You are very thorough.
Almost all of the complaints you had have been addressed here before.
Some of the steps you took, that caused things to not be perfect were also warned about.
(never put brush in hot oven etc... you could have researched more)
That being said....
You are pretty cool!
That was a wonderfully orchestrated review, with excellent media and dandy approach.
You were not objective enough about some of the weak spots, but that is understandable.
Your illustrations were good, and you had video coverage for us too.

The NO2 is a great starter vape, and is a good medical device. I love it.
I also loved how you added the media to your review of the vape, and to back up your words.

What you did that makes your words NOT believable was that you were not objective.
I do not recommend this device since people around the world report melting of the rubber ring on official and "non official" Vapir no2´s.....
This is what made your words less than totally valid in the end.. since I am on 13 MMJ websites, and work in a community where there are now over 30 NO2s in action.. and have only read minor complaints from folks who did not read all warnings.
Nonetheless...
I still look forward to seeing you get your next vape so we can check out your work once again!

A Main influence for buying my NO2 were the Vapir Bashers on this thread , I thought Damn if you can run 12 hour burn ins for days or weeks with no top on and it still works , I want one [i would kinda expect it to Taste like heated plastic or hot electronics if treated this way] . If you abuse any Vaporizer the problem is you not the product . Bought one from Vapir when they had the holiday Discount ,Think I paid $127 and that was money well spent.

If you want a passenger car , you get one .
If you want a Ferrari , you get one .
The NO2 is not a Ferrari , we get that .

Welcome to FC Flavio ,
Your review was very informative , and yes , most of it has been mentioned already .
I'm very happy for your discovery of vaping and FC .
And , I too am looking forward to your next vape purchase/review .

Are there any you're currently looking at ?

Your O ring pictures speak volumes. I would never let my NO2 get that dirty.

Also IMO the unit is not portable unless its stealth, in your jean's pocket would bring Homeland Security in the DC area. I put mine inside a double big gulp cup and cut holes in the bottom for airflow. It looks like your drinking a soda. Also I would get a back pack to carry it in.

Thanks for the review

When I looked at the O-Ring pictures, I thought that it looked like the unit had been ridden hard.. I thought "wow this guy is a candidate for a heavier hitter!"

If your using a 12 volt charger flip or remove battery and No2 will heat up like the a/c adapter which is 13 volts.

I'm thinking that when you insert the brush into the super hot chamber, causing the bristles to melt, they melt right into the four holes at the bottom causing the unit to over heat.

I also can not really see any O ring in mine. I kept thinking the rubber gaskets in the top is what people were talking about because I did not see a O ring. Or mine has not melted yet.

My own personal review of the NO2 is positive. I went into this thing knowing it would not replace my EQ or Surfer as a home device. My purpose for the unit is to take to a construction jobsite, no one knows what I'm up to while I sit in my car eating lunch. :smug:

I don't use a double Gulp, but I do hide the NO2 as large as it is, in my pocket!

Ya got some mighty deep pockets there, Vito. No way that would work with my Levi's without people sayin', "Is that a gun in your pocket or are you just happy to see me?".

Got a giggle from that gif though. :)

I'm with lwien on that one for sure the NO2 won't even fit in my Levi's pocket , I've taken walks with it in a water bottle carrier slung over my shoulder and no one seemed to catch onto what I was up to , Just taking sips of H2O.

One could add stealth (through diversion) to help disguise an NO2, by immediately saying:
"It is not a vaporizer, I am just very happy to see you!"
This would cause the person you encounter to avert gaze completely from the area!

I need to look at the dimensions of the No2 again, I keep thinking its so much larger than it actually is. I'm 6'7, I think I could get away with shoving a No2 in some loose slacks, but definitely not jeans.

I've heard the bowl design of the Da Vinci is similar to the No2, can this be confirmed or denied?

Also...

off topic, but Vitolo, your picture reminds me of a character from one of my favorite video games...
