Due to the variance in dimensions of glass pieces, aren't everyone's sandblasted logos at different distances from the top of the perc (ie these might not be the best reference points)?

Or is the variance is so small that it doesn't matter?
mobius from what i understand, is one of the most consistant blowers in the biz.

It seems they sort of max out with the Clear/Ion Matrix.
The perc have an excellent drag/diffusion ratio and both size covers most of utilizations.

Water trap looks more like a gimmick. Like a recycler, it is fun to watch though.
They already played with the perforated disc. Maybe now it is time to do a fritted one... but i'm not sure that the Dave Goldstein patent lets them do so. :(

You can NOT obtain a federal patent on paraphernalia. IMHO Mr. Goldstein will find his "claim" unenforceable. And for him to come on this forum, and threaten a kid in Australia who just wanted a personal piece made, well that shows his mindset . . . :disgust:

That really happened? :uhh: Any link please? I find it really low from him...

I believe my patent application is sufficiently broad to cover all use of fritted discs in smoking/vaporizing accessories. It is a utility patent, not a worthless design patent. It covers function, not just style.
When I have every friendly lathe in Portland making the product, I will consider licensing the patent outside home base for royalties.
There will be a 65mm can.

This is one quote towards the end of the discussion which sums up his attitude . . .

Edit: Some more . . .

NO. I will take action against anybody infringing my patent. Stop trying to get other glassblowers involved...and in trouble.

I didn't mean to start such a hub-bub about the patent thing... :o

I can fully understand why an artist would want to protect their livelihood, and IMO, they should be able to.
But from a consumers point of view, I can be somewhat frustrating at times, when you see something as friggin awesome as these fritters, and you have ideas how you would like to use them, but the original artist doesn't produce that specific item.

For example, I was thinking of getting a Fritted disc A/C made by another glassblower with one of those scientific frits, which I'm now not planning on doing, since the frits will most probably be terrible, but I've not seen or heard of any official fritted disc A/Cs...

It reminds me of a business concept I can't remember the name of now, but it's just patenting any shit you can, with no intention of using it, purely to stop your competitors doing it. IMO that crap should be illegal, as it does nothing but hurt the consumer.

I know that's not what happening here though:)

Rooster, would it be possible to buy some fritted discs from you directly, to have sent to another blower who is going to be making me a piece?
(I was gonna get an a/c, and a heady-ish bubbler made with fritters - It'd be awesome if they were legit rooster frits:))

Found an old video of my 60t from last year, the tube was quite the stacker and has been missed big time since being broken midst a PBW cleaning session. RIP

Okay, onward and upward, the Clear Reti bubbler should be here tomorrow.

 I thought the whole idea behind PBW was to minimize breakage dangers. So unfortunate.
