If you do forget to put the spring in (which I do all the time) just put the paperclip in the mp hole and you can pull it out.

How the hell did I miss that? I must be confusing it with replacing the MP with the sliding ring missing. I stand corrected.

If you don't have a dental pick as Welderboy suggested, make your own tool with a paper clip:

Straighten it out and bend one end into a little hook. Insert that between the spring and the tube and twist a little to snag the spring. Once it's hooked rotate the Pax clockwise and the spring just screws right out.

WARNING! Make sure you replace the spring before inserting your mouthpiece!

If you insert the mouthpiece without the spring in place, the only way to remove the mouthpiece is to open your Pax.

Never mind.
A perfect description thank you! Sure enough the spring is real tacky, ill just soak it in iso for a few minutes now. I know ploom dosnt recommend taking it out but I really feel like they should let people know more about spring cleaning.. I mean its pretty much necessary and I was getting ready to send it in because I had cleaned the device extensively and the MP still wasnt quite as responsive as I would have liked.
thankfully I found this forum first though. Its working like new now

I just removed my spring for the first time ever and it looked like it was just cleaned, nothing sticky literally clean like new ! I don't use the pax that much and I clean it regulary, with the dental brushes in between the spring and the tube etc.
The last few times I did however experienced my first litle "glitch" with the pax where I sometimes got the temp light while the pax was on but this was easily solved by wiggling the mp a little bit.
This makes me believe that the temp light problem isn't alwasy related to a dirty spring or dirty pax.
Could it be something else?

Yeah your spot on actually, Ive had my pax for about a month and I expierence that problem too (as do most pax users from what I have read so far.) It happens when the electric current is being obstructed by resin build up between the vapor path and the mouth piece. Its not an issue for me though, If it happens to me mid session I gently press the mouth piece in one direction so as to make the current flow like it should. If your doing it right the light should switch back to green. I hold it like this for a few seconds while it heats up and when it does you can use the pax like normal for the rest of your session. Give it a good cleaning after and you should be set

finally braved a spring cleaning, it does seem to be a little better now. Mine was getting hard to open and stay closed, and the usual temp light issues. I used a bent straight pin to fish it up then twisted it out with a q tip (thanks for that tip!! ) cleaned it really good with one of those airbush brushes. I still have no other complaints about the pax, it's been good to me every time I've taken it out and used it. I still have one of the earlier models with the slick finish.

<<<<< new guy here! Hey guys, I have read so much of the previous pages while in the process of purchasing my first vape and finally decided to sign up when still couldn't make a decision :/. I am ready to convert, but I don't think I want to spend that much on a Volcano right off the bat ( even thought i know its the best and that Ill eventually get one for my first home unit, i think, right?) BUTT i was wondering what I should do about a port vape. Pax, Inhalater xp, thermavape cera, any other expected new gnarly ones for 2013? Im torn and want to start vaping ASAP... I am staring at a full jar of Blue Dream that I vowed NOT to combust..... but its been 5-7 days of reading and frantically watching reviews and youtube videos, ( and annoying the crap out of my GF, as to what to do!!!lol heeelppppppp guyssss!!!) and i had to watch two j's disssaaapeearrr already. Thanks for sharing yalls time and knowledge!

Pax... I love mine its my first vape I'm extremely pleased and wouldn't trade it for the world. If its not in my hand or in my pocket its on the charger.lol . Nuff said.

Damn it that hydro tube attachment for the pinnacle looks awesome seems a bit pricey for what it is. Does that little bit of waste even make a noticeable difference?

Word man I was in your situation not too long ago. I was in the market for my first vaporizer but diddnt want to invest in a mediocre home unit mostly because I intend on investing in a volcano down the road. I knew that I wanted a portable unit but was not entirely sure which model would suit me best. For me it came down to 3 vapes; the davinci, the magic flight launch box, and the Pax. I also had 3 key expectations; vapor production, run time, and oven size. After spending some time watching reviews on YouTube I decided to go with the Pax by ploom. Ive had mine for over a month now and I feel like the Pax truly excels in all of these areas when compared to the portables that I was considering. There are a couple of draw backs with the Pax though. First off, you have to keep it real clean (you can find how to's on youtube) Secondly the battery. The Pax uses a rechargeable lithium-ion battery That will degrade over time (like everything that uses battery's) also note that you cannot use it while charging- which kind of sucks but isn't a big deal for me.. Keep in mind this is my first vape period; but yeah I couldnt be more satisfied with it.

The Pax is a superb portable vape (and the cleaning is not as bad as some make it out to be), but I would not suggest it as your primary vape. You will get about three good ovens per charge, and then it's about 1-1.5 hours for a recharge. You can time it right and make it work, but it is bound to happen that you will need it at a moment when your battery is on its final gasp, and then what? Wait an hour or more is your only option.

The Pax is a great choice for a portable vape, but it's not the best choice for an only vape, and this comes from somone who ows and loves his Pax. In your case, I would look into a Solo or the Inhalater, which I know is another you are looking at. I own neither but am interested in both. In your shoes, I would be most interested in the Solo. Happy searching! That's half the fun anyway.

If you buy it you won't regret it, it's fantastic quality! Pax through water is just a whole 'nother world...

A full bowl with some wax sandwiched in the middle on medium tastes great all the way to the end through water! Try in a big cheap bong if you can, but the Pinnacle's little pocket tube is just perfect for epic stealth sessions:
I fell in love with my Pax all over again!

WOW! Thanks you all for responding so quick, Mole, Strap, Dude, and Joe. After seeing Joe's posts I guess I have a few new questions, first of all,What color should I get?!?!?! ha ...JOE!!!! That is what I am talking about!!! How long did it take to convert it to being able to hit out of that thing? I am no genius when it comes to converting these things, but I believe i can do it, I would have to because That is frigging saweeeet!!!! Also, do any of y'all think that Ploom will come out with anything new this year like PAX 2.0?

I do love the videos and reviews I see about the Inhalater, and having the things pre-loaded anddd getting to use it while it charges, thats a real cool one, but, apart from the knob issues some seem to have, I just seem to be drawn to the damn Pax's cool look and functionality.... :/ lol. I assume the Inhalater would require some maintenance and cleaning as well..?

The Pax looks amazing, and I love keeping things clean, although I have also seen something about this spring removal, and I am not sure I trust ,myself taking something like that out from who knows where (haven't researched yet) an possibly messing something up? Is the spring cleaning or removal that important to know how to do as a Pax owner?

i am also attracted to the Inhalater because of the convection and conduction style, looks like my order is on hold.... again..... ha! dammmmit!! so manny options! and I figure ill get both eventually..... :/ bluedreamnightmares

Greenmile1332,
I have never removed the spring from my Pax in the five months I've had it. I've used it daily since then and have very little issues with it. I clean it well about every 4-6 days and use the lube for the mouthpiece stem. Every now and then, before I clean it, I will get the temp-light issue again, but the old blow-in-the-mouthpiece trick gives me another session before I have to clean it. After cleaning and relubing, no problem. Don't let the temp-light issue scare you from this vape. It's pretty much solved at this point with a little bit of good care, and it has a 10-year warranty with top-notch service.

I don't know if it's the best choice for an only vape -- it depends largely on how you plan to use it I guess. It will knock you on your ass, I can promise you that.

Shpooding Time.
So, I still havent been blazing, I have probably only smoked an 8th in the last 3 weeks periodically. Last night I damn near hallucinated off abv. I have never been so fucking high. I made a bunch of peanut butter graham crackers with little expectations, I got so stoned I couldn't sleep, it felt like I had motion sickness. I honestly felt like I was tripping. I ended up watching the visualizer on my xbox for 3 hours till I passed out with my headphones pumping. I had the weirdest dreams...:uhoh::lol: I ate 4 more tonight and went to a 4 hour show in boston, I am still blazed off my ass. Pretty cool that you can do this, I got really excited with the results, especially that I dont have to cook anything. Figured I'd share the results :D

ILoveCollege

Yeah.. F* Combustion..
So what did you do with the ABV? make fire crackers? I swear I have like at least a half O of ABV.. Thinking of what to do with it. The pax is currently cooking up some more ABV for me :science:

I had an epiphany while I was stoned, I think it would be sick if there was some sort of light in the trench, so you can check on it while in the dark. Like, so u dont have to take your phone out n stuff

ha, nice Krinkle! i'll re-read the previous threads to find out what madness you're talking about, sound fun!
So guys, I woke up and burnt another doober into thin air. I can't wait any longer and think I am just going to give the Pax a go and order today. I really like Joe's setup and will start looking up how to convert that bad boy

How long do y'all think the battery will function before it starts to "deplete" like I have read so much about... I think it's the same not size, but type of battery inside the Mac's?.....but do you think the 10 year warranty is only on the table because they know the battery isn't covered / going to last past 4, 3, or 2 years? Is that even a possibility or is that just another episode of pre-purchase paranoia ? lol I REALLY want to order something today.

Battery life will deplete 20% after 300 full charges. They will offer a battery swap program for a fee from what I was told by Ploom.- regarding the coma food- all I did was take the stuff thats spent from the oven and collect it daily, I accumulated a lot of vaporized bud and ate it in a bunch of peanut butter graham cracker sandwiches. It tastes surprisingly good, I was expecting it to taste like a roach or something, tastes pretty much like it would if I had used bud.

Care to share the recipe? My friend just shared successful results making an abv tincture. I would love to hear how you made the crackers. Do share!

Just saw your last message...so you're saying you just sprinkled the abv onto the PB on a cracker? Is that correct?

That's awesome, does that mean the battery can be taken out and replaced by Ploom if need be down the road... I had imagined if the battery was done-zo, so was the entire unit, and the investment. But if the battery can be replaced for a fee down the road, that's awesome!!!

You just grubbed your abv? wow, that's ballsy, and badasss, I would be scared of some stomach reactions if ya knowwhatimsayin. I have read about the larger amount of flowers the Pax consumes, but hey, I am already burning through bags with no abv to show for it, so the more I tape, the more I can bake!!!

they told me they'd most likely offer two programs, a pax exchange for half the price of the current model, and a battery swap where you could send it in and swap it for a fresh battery.
