Discontinued Thermovape Cera

For the record, I used my LL unmodded for a long time. I was getting vapor, but it wasn't consistent for me. So I modded it, added my ceramic screen, and eventually added my extended neck.

I have to post a new video soon, the vapor I'm getting now beats my last video and I was getting awesome vapor there.

I always have new stuff in the works, hopefully tonight, some issues will be solved with my small piece I'm adding, assuming it shows up in the mail.

The flaw with the stock MP with the LL is that you cant use it in back to back sessions or for a long period of time. Like Noah did he put his cera down and came back to it like 10-15 minutes later and used it after he let it cool down. Dont expect to have sessions all day on a stock MP without burning your lips.

This is why people are modding the MPs..

How refreshing.

I think if people would just stop being so averse to plastic, you could get a large benefit from teflon, since plastic is a worse thermal conductor than ceramic (assuming the mouthpiece is ceramic). But woods also have low thermal conductivity and should be suitable.

The issue isn't thermal conduction, it's heat retention. The ceramic takes a long time to heat up and an equally long time to cool down. While I imagine a mouthpiece made out of a different material may offer benefit in this area during long sessions where heat build-up is a concern, I think the ceramic would win out for short sessions where heat doesn't have enough time to accumulate and become a problem.

Both matter though, as the ceramic has enough thermal conductivity to make even short pulls unpleasant, whereas a material that is a poorer conductor will still keep from even getting to unpleasant temperatures in the first place.

Try fabricating a gasket made of a poor thermal conductor to go between the mouthpiece and the vape, and you will see what I mean.

Okay I didn't mean to sling false facts around. But a lot of the pages talked about the power button not latching, when I thought originally it was designed to? And how long does it last before it gets too hot to use? If I mod the mp doesn't the actual body get very hot as well? And about the power button. Isn't that awkward having to hold it in at the bottom while taking draws. That pretty much forces you to hold it at the very bottom with one hand or hold it with two correct? I'm not sure why but ever since I found the cera it has been my favorite choice to pick. I would love to buy one but was a little worried.

I disagree, the ceramic is an excellent insulator and the ceramic mouthpiece cools and makes vapor incredibly pleasant. With short pulls from a cold Cera, you aren't going to feel any heat. Not even with long pulls. I'm not sure what you are referring to when you reference short unpleasant pulls.

The discomfort that people run into comes from heat slowly migrating from the core to the core's ceramic walls and eventually to the mouthpiece itself, a process that takes several minutes to occur. This leads to burned lips via conduction, no pulling necessary.

So far, all mouthpiece mods have focused on increasing airflow, which adds the risk of discomfort as a result of convection: hotter air hitting your throat and lungs. I want to make sure we're clear on the separate possible heat issues: hot vapor is one and a lastingly hot mouthpiece is another.

I would love to see a wooden mouthpiece with the same UFO/o-ring design as the stock mouthpiece. I like wood crafts. I think it would look great!

I hold mine like this and dont find it uncomfortable, I have pretty strong hands from the work I do though. I push the button with my index or middle finger. While i agree its not ideal its not horrible i have never had to use 2 hands. Hopefully TET can offer a aftermarket latching switch at some point. I prefer the stock cap/mp over using a glass tube with a screen. I do 1 bowl a time though, if i really wanna get lit i will let it chill for 5-10 minutes than come back and do another.

Alright I'm convinced! I'm going to buy one in the next week or two. Seeing how they are behind I don't think it will make a difference anyway. The next question I have is about the batteries. What's the best battery and charger for the money?

Sorry to double post but I doubt it would be that hard to design a latch that fits over the bottom metal piece with a pivoting hook that you clip into place when you want it on. Hmmmm I wonder if I could make one with a 3D printer

Thanks I didn't even notice that was there!

mod note: Don't apologize, use Edit instead. Two posts merged.

Is it best to load the EO cart with just enough oil for one session? I'm finding that when I come back to my vape the next day, and I know theres still plenty in there, it's really hard to pull through for a while. It eases up once its nice and hot, but it almost seems like the vapor was 'stuck' underneath (and maybe combusting?) until that point. For what its worth I'm using CO2 oil, so it should be really pure.

I'm also still unsure of how I would know if the load is kicked. Does it just stop producing vapor? Taste different? I've probably had 5 good sessions on .75g of oil so far, but each time i go back to it I feel like its a little less pleasant. Are there any effects of heating the oil up and then it hardening after cooling again?

Sorry for so many questions but this is my first vaporizer so I really have no basis of comparison.

Yeah, I think smaller more frequent dabs is the way to go. I loaded like .5 right away and kind of regretted it after a while. There's a definite funk to the flavor if you let it cook for a long time.

these ones seem to work better at heating up the cera faster for LL (EO works fine with 2250mah or 2900mah)

or these with higher capacity but dont heat up as quickly but last a bit longer

as far as chargers go it is recommended to use the one TET sells, If u can find the same one for a bit cheaper get it , if not go with TET!!!!
TET said this charger tested with best result compared to others, now if you got the money then a pila charger is one of the best chargers you can get!!!

It helped tremendously! I was not expecting such an in depth answer. Thanks man

I like the second one a lot, like a trigger for your fingers while holding it normally. I'm sure ill end up doing something like that.

Caulin about one or two pages back there is one with a white bottom and many others so start reading backwards. Crap and welcome to the fun...my damn brain.

OF you are waaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyyy over your picture quota even if it is reposted one.

Yes I saw that. The furniture a cap with a black spacer in the middle. That's a possibility but I don't really like it. I'm not sure why though.

You're welcome. Yeah, that one was in response to a few accidents that started to happen with latching switches and oil carts and stuff. We got to discussing on how latching would be neat but if you get distracted, forget, pass out, set it down for just a second...... or whatever it shuts down. A 'deadman's switch'. Or should that be 'deadperson's'?

I've got another photo of it dismounted here, but Dreamer is getting close to vapor lock, we'd better save it for later?

Calm down, Lady. Breathe deep, it's not really that bad. They are used photos after all? Besides I know I usually do one a season or so, but I'm following the lead from Washington and have borrowed from future quotas......

Stay sharp, though, I might photo any time again you know.........

Thanks for responding. This being my first vaporizer, I found the taste pretty bad to begin with. I dont think it helps that i'm using CO2 oil either, because i've read that it has the worst taste of all concentrates. I have no idea how long that .75g will last, or how to know when its spent, but I hope its soon so i can try something else. I'm also finding the hits to be getting harsher and harsher every time i come back to it.. I actually find it more harsh than when I was smoking spliffs a week ago.

Now that's strange indeed. I prefer CO2 extracts (when I can get them) for just that reason. IMO they are far better than ISO extracts and many/most BHO. Nitrogen are in there with them, too I think?

Anyway, figure maybe 10 mg a hit so you're looking at maybe 50 hits to get it down to .25 or so when I'll start to run dry (most likely). It will start looking dry (the part you can see) and vapor production will drop off.

I'm a little concerned about this concentrate, and it's changing taste a lot. Is it clean, does it otherwise pass the foil test? Are you sure you loaded it in well before you started to take hits? I wonder if the core is filled right???

I will calm down OF when I sit in your zen garden. Allergies are kicking my butt big time.

Caulin to be clear personally I like OF's switch cause it is a press and goes off by itself. I don't have a cera but have read the thread since day one. Unfortunately cera doesn't fit my needs which makes me sad but if I did have it I prefer OF's mod for many reasons.

Yea the EO definitely doesnt taste as good as flowers, I found it harsh at first but now after a few weeks i can take fat rips with barely any irritation, I load about .3 at a time to keep it from getting clogged up, I know its close to full when the oil starts making bubbles when loading. This is what my EO core looks like loaded up to MY maximum, weighing 42.54( weighs about 42.23 empty), i know guys put alot more but i like all me EO to be soaked into the ceramic to avoid the vents getting plugged and having to warm it up before you can get airflow.

I like their to always be a gap on the sides of the ceramic plate

Thank you all for your interest in my mod. Here's what I'm thinking...please give me your feedback
735k31q.png

Features include:
-Pre-built slot for .625" ceramic screen. No O-rings required
-Tight fitting around the LL cart (it'll fit exactly as the cap that ships with it does)
-8.5 CM of space, which will cool down the vapor and put space between the hot core and your lips
-Perfect fit around the outside of the Cera. There won't be a lip between this mod and the cera
-Fit and finish to match the Cera body (high-grade Alumina)

OF

I dont have any first hand experience with any other concentrates at the moment, so only time will tell what my preference is. I just remember reading that a properly purged BHO has a better taste? In time i'll be able to make my own judgment.

The CO2 oil is made by a pretty reputable company around here, so i think its fine. Also i've been really congested the past couple days so I guess i can't taste much as it is. I'm unfamiliar with the foil test but i'd like to try that.

I appreciate the estimate - if thats the case I might not have even used .25g, so there is probably some extra on the sides, though i can't really see it from the top. The core was filled with a plunger... i can't imagine how i could have filled it wrong.

I'll be following that method going forward - thanks. I guess for the initial load its good to fill it up, but if its as many hits as OF described and the taste is a little less pleasant each day, i think thats a good amount. And again i admit i have a bit of a cold so with my taste buds dulled and a little cough its tough to really give a fair assessment.
