Discontinued Thermovape Cera

I have two cents to spare...

Yes it looks like a lot like a personal massage device when it has the Silicone top on, though it doesn't bother me that much.. I just break the ice to people that have yet to try or see it and say I have a dildo that doubles as a Vaporizer (most of these people that see it as a dildo are usually not super familiar with Vaporizing..alot of this being due to my location in a state thats slow to catch on to technology in the medicinal world)

Anyways, if you think it looks like a "dildo" and it bothers you too much; just either avoid buying it, or scratch the surface of modding it like many members here have done. Alot of the people that modded there Ceras MP (including myself) have posted pictures of this. I dare say alot of these mods make the "dildo" argument invalid IMO.
But... if you insist that it looks like a dildo, I myself see it as A good safety feature that keeps the "uncool" people (cops, coworkers,kids....etc..) from knowing exactly what the device is because most people arent going to ask questions about or tinker with something that they think is a personal massager............:2c:

i dont know about other users but im yet to come across a vape or device that gives better flavor than the cera LL.

I've yet to try the Cera LL, but I do have the glass on glass Bender from Delta9 and it's easily the best/cleanest taste I've ever gotten out of a vape using flower. Many people who have tried mine tend to agree, as do a lot of people here in the FC forums. I'm pretty sure OF has a Bender as well (could be mistaken, of course). Maybe he could chime in with his opinions on the two?

It's official this
"I don't know what it is. I think I know what it looks like. I don't really want to touch it or ask a question that might give an answer I am uncomfortable about"

Train of thought actually saved me loosing my Cera when the police decided to raid my house, 5 cops walked past it 20 times each and not one gave it so much as a second glance...
Not so lucky with my nice halfway through flowering crop, that was supposed to be my supply for the year :-(

Great real life example that sums up where I was getting at with my 2cents The Robbo, sorry to hear about the way you found out this design is a fairly good preventative measure against the "uncool" though....

Edit:
On another note I finally got the ability to print my shipping label and drop off my wounded Cera at the postal office today to send her off to the Mothership for inspection and repair. This will be an ancy week, I just hope she gets back by the 20th

Alright OF since you were the first to ask... I guess you get it!

Psh no one else wants a FREE SS Cera on April Fools?

But as for the thermal cap on it making it resemble more of a dildo, I totally agree.

And I've been struggling to figure out how to make an open extended mouthpiece with a screen, but without a thermal condom.

And so for today this is what I have come up with.

I have something on the way, hopefully tomorrow or the next day it will be complete and I can get rid of the flimsy screen.

You'd be right, I have both. Bender does a great job for sure, but I have real trouble getting it to run at less than horse choker levels. I find if it doesn't have a lot (like half a gram) loaded I have trouble controlling it (takes a long time to get going and comes on 'too hot' for my tastes).

Cera, I find, tastes basically the same (the ceramic being very 'glass like' in that regard) but uses loads sized more to my liking and being convection slacks off when the draw is slowed. Bender is still radiating heat full time.

It might well be that with more practice and different techniques I could improve the results with Bender, but Cera will milk the goodness from a pinch of herb quickly and easily for me in a comfortable way. No doubt different guys will see it differently, the best call remains 'try 'em both'?

Cool. Now there's role reversal for you, I'm usually accused of not getting it......

Fun little project you're on there, but you might want to rethink the tubing? Looks like vinyl to me, which is known to burp out all sorts of nasties at the temperatures we're using. While not as pretty, there are suitable Silicone rubbers like:

FDA approved to 500F, a great plenty for us. There are no doubt places where you don't have to buy 10 feet if you don't have that many friends......

Just wanted to share that my cera with standard MP fits quite nicely on the 18mm male protrusion of my oil rig. No o-ring required just gently press.

I've seen videos of people using their vapes through a waterpipe, but never quite understood why.

And I can't quite explain why when I hit my cera MP to lips it tastes rather hashy and gives really smooth hits, but when I run it through my oil rig I get an explosion of flavor followed by eye watering lung expansion! Amazing!!!!! I was almost doubting the cera for oil flavor as I seemed to get fairly hashy hits, but wow stick it on a glass piece and it pretty much is way better and more fun to hit than the nail.

Vapor temp appears to change flavor profile? But the diffusion through water must have something to do with how much I want to keep hitting her even though I'm plenty medicated....

Really starting to think I need a LL cart as well. Seems like most are very stoked on it!

Lastly, I felt no phallic inferences when I first saw the cera, and personally liked the design very much. I brought it out to work then a friends house for dinner today and both times I shared, everyone asked me where I was planing on sticking that thing. Lol! Oh well most of my friends don't care to toke it like I do so its fine if they laugh; ill keep suckin away on my beautiful white....shaft.

I have the Cera LL and the Bender.
I use the Cera EO for oils, the Bender for flowers, and Cera LL for keif.
The "horse choking" levels of vapor from the Bender are what I prefer.
It seems though I haven't perfected the technique with the LL Cera. Watching other users videos shows me this. Maybe with some more practice the Cera LL can become my daily driver for flowers??
I'm going to check the resistances of my body, switch, and cores today to make sure everything is ok on that side of things.

Excellent point, I clean forgot bubble hash! A personal favorite.....I guess it slipped my mind since that wasn't the topic. But yes, full points for Cera there.

I get it that some guys love the clouds, they're paying the bill I say they get what they paid for. And more power to 'em. Cera can make me uncomfortable so it might well work OK for you.

Best advice I have is grind fine, dry it well, pack it in and lean on step 2 big time. As Noah quipped one day 'if you want lots of vapor you need lots of heat'.

Anyway, best of luck on your upcoming experiments, I hope you find the magic technique. I believe it's within Cera to exceed expectations.

Does anybody know if it's possible to have your cera "wrapped"? I had my car wrapped and it's a really sturdy kind of vinyl. they can also print pics on that material and they have it in lots of different colors AND is easily removable if needed, so this might be a cool way to pimp the cera or put it in it's summer or winter dress for just a few bucks.

^ you should try it out for fun, I dont know how vinyl would react to the heat from the Cera though.

Maintenance for the Cera = NONE. The only cleaning tool I have for it is random pieces of paper I can find around . I actually haven't cleaned my LL at all cause its not even needed, everything dumps and scrapes out easily when the bowl is hot. The EO is easily whiped down while its hot also.

I love cleaning my cera, a bit of iso and a q tip can make it look like right out of the box again but I'm thinking about not cleaning as much as I do now after I read a post that said that the sticky bowl keeps the herb from going up as a whole when inhaling because it would stick better to the "dirty" bowl

Great point– the first time I noticed this, I had just quickly brushed the inside of the mouthpiece with a MFLB brush and was amazed how easily the light coating of reclaim material wiped off while the ceramic was hot. I'm thinking that, given the right cleaning method, the Cera could be one of the best vapes for gathering reclaim.

any word on the CEO/T1 adapter?

Im assuming theyre priority is to get through the back orders before they work on anything new. Itll be out eventually, just not anytime soon most likely.

Ive been hoping to get an adapter for my ultra and not have to make one, but ill most likely have a cera unit before adapters ever come out

It looks like the ssv tubing to me...is that vinyl? Because I ended up getting that for my vivape (instead of the silicon it comes with) because they carry it at my LHS. If its not safe to use with the cera wouldnt it not be safe for thessv or any vape for that matter?

Funny you should mention that. Back when Cera was new and I had one of the few Beta units in play at the time I was getting the usual questioning about my experiences to date. The topic of cleaning came up and I said I was just wiping it down with a paper towel as others have said. I then said this was really easy to do for almost the entire thing because surfaces were flat and smooth. I said something like 'you could easily collect the condensate if you wanted'.....Tim got that twinkle in his eye when he's got something funny he's about to share. He held up an imaginary MP and carefully scraped the top with an equally imaginary razor blade, a perfect pantomime, I knew right away what he was pretending to do. Then, just as I and I think the others were sucked in, he winced, jerked his left hand back shaking it and said 'just be careful not to cut yourself'.

I bore you with the story to prove once again Tim is really a pretty twisted individual and to watch out for him. And also to indicate that it seems from the earliest days folks have been considering cleaning and reclaiming and it's deep in the design. They took what we said we liked about the original line, made the improvements we asked for as far as they could, and are finally getting them into waiting hands. It won't be long before Ceras are in stock rather than backordered. Pretty darn cool if you asked me......even if you didn't?

Great. Just be sure to check the temperature rating, not all silicone tube is the same. There'd be no reason to pay the big bucks in brewing unless it came with some other property?

For sure the tube in the photos earlier is suspect to me. Too clear, I bet not up to boiling water even?

PTFE (teflon) tube is an interesting idea, how about starting with some half inch OD to fit snug in the cap?
http://www.mcmaster.com/?orderview=new#standard-plastic-hollow-tubing/=m5curl

Note the 3 different wall thickness tubes on the right? You can buy a single foot cheap enough, it's good to 500F and is food grade. It's also oversize so it's easy to get a solid press fit with a little light sanding. The 5/16 ID should be very close to drip tip size........

The juxtaposition of the bolded "Fuck" and the gently italicised "pretty darn" is quite nice, I think. Call me crazy.

Dont tell them my secrets!:ninja: hehehehehehe :science:

Another little tip if you want reclaim; put a simple screen on top of your bowl so that the leaf material doesn't stick to the top cap. Nice clean reclaim then :)

Were going to have a fun little announcement soon too, keep your eyes on our blog!

Cheers,
Tim

For reclaim (at least those who produce their own) use something you would use as a filter like unbleached coffee filters and wipe it down with those. Save them up and pack it in for your next run. :science:

But what I really came here for was a little gif of the CEO in action.

I had an interesting idea for a Cera mouthpiece that could be made by VRIP Tech or some other enterprising glass blower.

Take a j-hook such as this one to start with:
RZ12M9z.jpg

Replace the female GonG connection with a connector to fit around the Cera's core, ala the T1 Glass Adapter:
Q6BJPAx.jpg

Finally, remove the mouthpiece bend in the j-hook, making straight the whole part above the thick section on the left in the first image. This way, the mouthpiece would be oriented parallel to the Cera. This would let you hold the Cera backward with the switch pointed toward you, readily pressed and held by your thumb. I'd call it the trumpet mouthpiece.

I think that the utility to weirdness ratio is acceptable, but it could be my head in the clouds!

I'm running a LL, which seems to run cold. Only 2 of maybe 20-30 inhales have yielded visible vapour - even in good lighting. I'm using these batteries. So I tried searching the thread but came up with nothing about length of the break in period.

Tested:
  • Both slow and fast inhales with short and long wait in between these inhales.
  • Both shallow loaded bowls and full/packed bowls.
  • Both leaf-material and concentrate. The leaf material didn't even slightly brown, the concentrate (bubble) just softened slightly.
The Cera gets very hot to the touch, but vapour production is still minimal.
What could be going on?

Thanks in advance, and apologies if I missed a previous post covering the topic.
