Doesn't solve the problem for pending customers who may not want such "fuck ups" .

Indeed, it does not, and it is a problem that should be address. But all things considered, I think it's a small price to pay. Form follows function, IMO.

I'm actually quite shocked that clouds are being sent out in this condition and people are being cool about it, as well as vxl themselves.

Almost coming on a year with the old ticker and its going strong. I too keep looking for a möbius piece but they are hard to find. I may go for a DG with fritted disc. Anyone use the fritted disc with their cloud?

I've ran through a Goldstein - really does well but IMO with the massive diffusion you lose some of the flavor.

My cloud came looking pretty good - the only concern I have ever had was the cord but I have been comforted by VXC that it is not an issue. Way I look at it is at least I have a warranty - I feel good knowing I could extend it as well.

After all the waiting and the "luxury item" price point, if I got something and manked up as just described, I'd be beyond pissed. It'd make me feel really uneasy about longevity too. Here's hoping this crap is short-lived, because a unit as bad as you say should never have made it past quality control, "hand-assembled" or not. Indeed, I'd expect the creators to take more care than assembly-line minimum wage folks slaving away god knows where (who are also "hand-assembling" them, technically). Are they put together in the US?

Starting to feel it might be prudent to hold back 'til well after the International release and see what gremlins arise there, if any, before dumping what (for me at least, and most people, I'm sure) is a pretty significant chunk of change. :/

I can deal with some loss of flavor for better diffusion. I seem to be sensitive to the clouds heat sometimes.I appreciate your input about the DG.

Just to be completely honest, my Cloud+ also looks very beat up. No alignment on the two metal halves, I believe my bamboo is not completely straight, and I have a dent (can't really describe it) in the aluminum that looked like someone took a can opener and tried to open my Cloud+ up that way. The black heat shield also had considerable wear on it.

That being said, as long as the unit functions properly, which it is, I'm happy :-).

VXL should be proud I guess.

Mine came as you described too. The paint of the inner heat shield was even peeling off. I scraped the surrounding edges since its they were so close to the bamboo. But yea after waiting almost two months for my replacement, I do not want to send it in again.

@Venomous: They should be proud for making the best unit on the market, IMO:tup: . I think if it were another product from another company I wouldn't be as forgiving.

It's starting to sound like they were manufactured, then opened up to modify something (Cloud plus conversion? Repairing manufacturing error?), and then reassembled. Certainly would be consistent with the wear and defects being described.

the heat shield is painted so it's pretty easy to get marked up with general handling.

I acquired my cloud cheaper than most others(second hand unit) so that may color my views on this just a tad. To say I'm "cool with it", is incorrect. It's more-so an acknowledgment that things aren't perfect, and never will be. VXL has tried to do right by most everyone but that doesn't always happen(as we all know). As long as my cloud does what it was designed to do, I'm happy.

I think we should just agree to disagree on this one. :)

Painted or powder-coated? Powder-coating is a very hard, durable surface, that definitely shouldn't get scuffed by "general handling". Marking or chipping it takes a blow or scratch from something harder, such as metal, ceramic, stone, sharp glass...

its painted. there may be slight imperfections here and there but after your first session you'll prolly forget all about it. its a beast at producing the dense sweet flavorful vapor. in the end isn't that really all that matters.

Question for those of you who have upgraded an original unit to the could plus.

Is it just an upgrade on the unit you send in or are you getting an completely new unit?

If you'd just bougth a new Ferrari from the dealership, and when they delivered it the panels were chipped, scratched up and/or generally misaligned, would you think "Oh well, it still goes around corners fast and that's what really matters" or would you march right back there and ask them WTF?

If I'm buying the vape equivalent of a Ferrari (and really, that's what the Cloud is), I expect it to look pristine as well as function well. I don't think that's an unreasonable expectation, and if they end up shipping me something that looks like a refurb it will be going straight back for a refund, not replacement. I haven't waited all this time for some retro-fitted ticker or whatever the hell is going on with all these reports of fit and finish issues. :/

Anyone who isn't happy with the fit and finish of the Cloud should open a ticket with VXL support. Mentioning it here once is fine, but there's no need to keep repeating it. Arguing about the level of finish people should be happy with is also not acceptable.

Why isn't mentioning it more than one time acceptable? Shouldn't be hiding this kind of stuff from potential customers. This far in the game, its unacceptable they keep getting passes for mass failures, fit and finish issues or more importantly, receiving your cloud back from service in worst condition than when it was sent.

When you get back from your little holiday, spend some time reviewing this thread and take careful note of how often this policy has been explained.

i'm just talking about a few marks here and there on the heat shield. for some its not a big deal.if the unit is misaligned then thats another story. i get where your coming from, but for me as long as the unit is working perfectly then a few marks here is there doesn't bug me.

I will say this. I absolutely love the vapor the Cloud produces. It's amazing. :-).

Still waffling on buying another HydraTube but I'm waiting for something ridiculously amazing.

I was comming home to purchase a cloud this evening. i must say that i am a little weary of all these blemished units. very pricey unit to consider being jacked up upon arrival...in limbo now.

I suppose if I bought my cloud to impress people and stave off a mid-life crisis I might feel this way. Likewise if a person ever buys a Ferrari just because it drives fast (I can assure you this has never happened) they may not give a shit about a cosmetic flaw.

Yeah I wish it looked perfect, but I'll settle for it working damn near perfectly. I mean, I WISH it was gold-plated, hovered and never needed to be re-filled. GET ON IT VXL.
[edit] I meant that to be funny, but not to trivialize valid concerns. I am honestly not making excuses for VXL, or shilling. I hope bringing these issues to light will help people make an informed choice.

This is my "damaged" cloud. Is this seriously going to stop you from making an excellent purchase?
