I see, so it's basically being PWM'd by the circuitry to control the temperature. That makes sense.

Judging from the facts, I think it's pretty safe to say my cheap little sparkfun meter is not measuring amperage correctly. This comes as a pretty good excuse for me to finally buy a Fluke.

Yeah, technically more 'duty cycle controlled' but close enough for jazz. PWM usually is run at a rate much faster than the time constant of the system. Controllers for them (for closed loop) tend to be PID types with proportional ranges rather than on/off cycles.

And yeah, cheap meters lying to you happens. You know what they tell pilots, 'you've got to trust your instruments'. In the day I used to check the meter I used regularly against a 'known good' one in the shop and when on travel (especially aboard ship or overseas) I carried a second meter just in case. In a strange way I took to using the cheap one and kept the Fluke 'in case'. The battery went dead, but I never needed the backup. The 'reality check' of readings always came up good. If I didn't have that backup there's no doubt in my mind that Murphy would have got me good.

My pops has a fluke thats like 20+ years old. It still works great. The designs actually havent changed much.

It takes time to learn your draw speed. Also lift the stem a mm. I fought with it for weeks before I fell in love. I now have the PVHES stem for better airflow but I still use the stock as well.

What temp. level are you using ?
Let it heat up before inserting your stem in , all the way in , so you can't see your herbs .
Let it cook for a minute before " Slowly " inhaling .
Grind up your herb , I find it works better that way . ime .

It will fill up water bongs very nicely .
Keep us posted on your progress .

What poon said. We can walk you through it don't give up it will be worth it. I had no intention of giving up combustion when I came to vaping. I just wanted something to be less smelly when in public and way easier to use. I got that and a lot more. I gave up combustion kind of as a challenge to myself after a member, OF, said that you can't tell till you give it up for a month the difference. Well I did and tried to smoke after that and it was so gross. I will never go back and now my house doesn't stink either.

ya i get it now, its ok, i like smoking better still..and i stuck my finger in it and it kinda hurt for like 10 minutes

XGerpXDerpX,
Received my new Solo today. Never experienced such a restricted draw, but also never had a vape so damn efficient. Impressed, but just about imploded my eyeballs taking a hit. Looking forward to trying it with PVHES tube later this week.

Edit: This is definitely an example of a heavy hitter wide tube with very restricted draw ;)

Lift the stem a little to help with the draw. Also when the retaining ring loosens your draw will be easier as well. Draw slower.

I drew fast but it sure kept up. I'll refer back to something pakalolo said awhile back - it's designed this way for a reason. I hardly put any weed in, and without the tight seal I don't think I would have gotten nearly the cloud. This baby is just a tight little roaster. I guess I'm willing to put up with a little discomfort for this level of efficiency. I'm sold.

Practice makes perfect!!!

Red Indy,
IMO not as portable as the VB2 due to the stem and the fact that the herb is in the stem and can fall out easily. But I love that I can remove the stem and set it upside down to stop the cooking - another bonus for efficiency. BTW, I set it on 4.

hmm...idk how people get these things to fill a water device, i can barely pull mouse fart off this pos

Simple however very effective!
I keep the water level much lower.

Could someone post a up close pic of a pvhes stem and gong if you have them i am going to my lhs today to see if the guy there can make them for me and the pic on PV website is not the best. I mainly just need to see what is different between the original stem and pvhes. Thanks.

Try using mflb battery caps or I think pv might sell them for solo stem, that way you can have a loaded bowl ready!

Idk if I shoulda got a da buddha

If you feel that way than your might be using it wrong, there was a user a while back with a similar problem who posted a video for us and we determined that he wasn't inserting the stem all way in, are you sure that you got that sucker in there? The first time is always a fight you gotta really force it and after that it works perfectly every time

You'll get use to it - hang in there. Alot of people including myself when first got into vaping liked smoking better as well. Many mistake the effects from the crap you get through combustion for a better or stronger high. I would take a vape high anyday over combustion - I like the idea of being able to medicate and actually function. I'm sure you will eventually feel the same way.
