Discontinued Inhalater XP

I am happy to report that my XP magically started working again over the weekend. I have the original 4 hole version and last week I turned it off during a session and it would not turn back on. I tried several times with no luck so I assumed the switch was dead and I would have to return it. I had been lazy about putting in a warranty request since I have a working inh004 and randomly decided to give it a shot over the weekend and it turned on! I turned it on and off several times and it seems to be working again!? The dial still feels funny and will twist beyond the off setting and if I turn it up too fast it will flash like its in tobacco mode. I think I'm just gonna keep using it as my home vape and use my inh004 when I travel and then send it in for a warranty replacement after the bugs are all fully worked out.
There is a video with instructions to fix the switch. It just needs to be lubricated.

I saw the instructions. I'm not about to attempt a home repair on a product I just purchased when I already have a second one as a backup that still works great. If it was my only inhalater I would try it but since its not I'm just going to send it back and get it replaced with one that has the newer updated switch.

i just had my first sesh with my replacement XP.

my* round 2 looks awesome -- i thought I was going to get the exact same unit, but the unit is slightly smaller, 8% lighter, the dial now has perfect stiffness (good), the sticker on the dial is no longer inverse colour from the rest of the unit (good), the covering cap is no longer hard to get on or off (good), the covering cap now has rounded edges (i like it), and it is back to 2 intake holes from the 4 i had in my first XP.

i'm really very pleased right now. Greg was easy to communicate with, my replacement arrived very quickly (good on Canada Post, and on Greg).

i swear this thing heats up faster than before.

oh ya, and the capsule does not get stuck in the chamber.

* "my" -- your round 2 XP would likely be different than my round 2 XP, due to incremental changes. Pharmacore, through its relation with fuckcombustion.com, and presumably other sites, seems to have effectively, if unintentionally, adopted a rolling-release cycle -- from Wikipedia: "In software development, a rolling release or rolling update development model refers to a continually developing software system; this is instead of a standard release development model which uses software versions.".

I actually think a rolling release cycle is the way to go for Pharmacore, even if it just means saying so. The internet changes everything, for manufacturers and consumers alike.

And that's my final puff...

How cool would it be if the firmware was user upgrade-able? Even though it's not needed, it would be nice to be able to set your own temps and flash your own custom firmware. Throw in a few RGB LEDs and pick your own LED colors. Maybe one day....seems simple, but I have zero knowledge on how the software currently works.

Ok, been using my relplacement XP for a few days now and have had no issues so far. Performance wise it is the same as the 4 hole model, I barely notice a difference on the draw. The temp dial now only has 8 numbers instead of 9. Capsules are much tighter and it definately runs hotter. I was changing capsules in mid session, and noticed it had started to combust. Some of the material in the tip of the capsule and the small amount that fell out while changing were starting to smoke. Temp was maxed. I do have one of the hotter calibrated models so hopefully this is not an issue for others. I did burn it off 3 times at mid temp with some ABV and did not notice any off-gas or weird smells. Huge thanks to Greg from Pharmacor for working with me.

Edit: here is a response from Greg regarding the temp settings on the "hot" units.
On hot units, max temperature is 229 Celsius. Min temp is - 60 Celsius from Max temp. Dial temperature corresponds to proportional variation between min and max.

Hope this answers your question
Let me know
Best regards

Greg

Here is some cool scientific information regarding vaporisation temperatures

http://www.inhalater.com/images/heated_substrates/McPartland-Russo-JCANT 1(3-4)-2001.pdf

Here are pictures of temperature around 220 and 170 Celsius

When I first turned my new unit on it started off gassing,(like video) so I turned it off and cleaned the heater with a q-tip and alcohol which stopped the visible off gassing. I did still have to let it burn in a little to get rid of the strong plastic flavor but after that it was fine. I also received a hotter unit but, I never used the lower temps on my original unit so I like the hotter settings. The capsules are tighter and the new capsule that came with it clicks.

These should be approximate temps on the hot units in F.

Removed my sticker and think black looks great. It seems to not produce big clouds without stuffing a lor in but it does produce a strong high even without fat clouds. Do most bowls die within one cycle(6 minutes) for you guys?

A cycle for me is 10 minutes but I usually puff on the same bowl for at least 20 minutes. On my old unit I'd start at 7 after 10 min up to 9, and on the new I start at 2-3 then bump to 6-7. I also completely fill the capsule and then pack down to half or just keep filling until full. Which probably makes it last longer.

gosaints420,
picture please?

It is slightly threaded on the surface but you can not tell until you look at it closely or touch it.

Thanks I thought so.

i got the same too...after 1 month+ of waiting...but as they they better late than never...
well be lucky that you got on now. Because if you didn't get one from this batch they are being put on hold for a few weeks longer. I could have told him to just wait for the next fix but I told him I'll take my chances on the XP first. If it becomes faulty then I'll just send it in again(I have a solo to tie me over at least).

BTW for future reference....I used Canada post number in the usps system once it reached the USA and it works. I did this with my last PV order and was able to track it all the way except for like a day for the transfer process from them to us.
I did the same thing with a USPS Super Express (not sure if the term is right :)) for tracking from US to Canada putting the USPS tracking # into the reference # on the FedEx site.
