haha nothing scientific about it tho! just inserting a premade/prefabbed disc

it would be the same w/ a honey comb/frit / water jetted disc / etc

but need to source a good disc supplier 1st cuz im not gonna make those inhouse ( frit is really dangerous )

the problem w. the lab frit filters are they generally use really fine frit and those particles can come loose if not made properly.
i would hate to imagine our customers inhaling frit dust into their lungs!

that stuff wont be coming out!

so if you notice the DG frits all use large/medium frit not the small/fine stuff

To add, loose particles isn't the only problem with the fine frit. A FC member tried buying one to use and the restriction/drag was so strong it was just totally non-functional.

Don't the lab ones come in four or five grades? 0-4 or something, from fine to quite coarse?

Actually, I think someone in the DG thread posted a link to a place you can buy disks online, IIRC. May be wirth a look, it's a short thread.

Received my order today from jhanpixel, it was for the 12-arm bub. The item looks very well make and packaged nicely. Unfortunately it will be awhile till I get to use it, as I'm currently seeking new employment. I will recommend his glass though, very nice quality and amazing diffusion with no real drag at all. Granted was just hitting air no vapor.

Well, this site sells quartz frits. Grade 00 (the coarsest) would probably work (pores of 0.2-0.3mm), and those disks start at $33 for 20mm, $55 for 30, etc. The big ones are silly expensive but for a mini recycler 30mm sounds like plenty.

Dunno whether fused quartz can be cleanly welded to boro, though?

Anonymouse,
I seem to remember that it was determined that the frits designed for lab use were too constricted for use in a bong. I do know that ppl making that style so far have made their own.

They may have used the finer grades, though, since they're much cheaper. But also much higher restriction.

yea they make them themselves which is why im looking to source them =)

dont want to make em myself - too much hassle
need to make a mold
fill mold w. coarse frit
put something to pressdown the frit
put in kiln
slump+fuse in kiln
anneal
remove and install
all that for 1 disc

Just wanted to chime in that every piece i got from you is still amazing. Been loving using the double honeycomb and the ratchet with my da buddha vaporizer. And i was able to compare the custom piece you blew me side-by-side with a mobious matrix and is still prefer mine :). All amazing work. Can't wait to see what else you come out with.

Once you do get a frit connect, I'm excited to see what you make. I know one thing I've wanted to see is a fritted disc diffused bowl. Can't find either of them anywhere and they would be perfect for allowing airflow and keeping flowers from falling through.

For combusting? They'll plug right up after a few bowls I'd think...

I'm excited to see a small canned frit with some working on the piece, though

I've been using a DG frit filter in my grav labs octabowl (with a little shaving it down) and it hasn't clogged thus far although i'm sure cleaning it will be a pain when i have to. They're not too expensive though, so maybe a bowl that you can drop them in.

And I'm right there with ya on that :)

Any progress on that funky inverted tree?

Can you make the streams shoot somewhat inward at each other for the turbulence + aerosol? I'd be all over that. Not only would it look cool as hell, it'd be a really effective and unique perc.

I'd prefer it in stemless bubbler format but I'll take a tube or whatever...

no the arms come pre-bridged to each other - if we used a non-bridged tree ppl would complain about them not being bridged so yah kinda hard to do unless its a custom piece
to use that concept in a bubb the can would have to be really high / i would say taller than those matrix bubbs everyone seems to love

The height would depend on the angle the tree branches fire inward, wouldn't it? Even if you can't bend the arms of the the pre-made trees, you could weld little pipes or vanes above them to bias the direction they fire, couldn't you?

Most percs just make bubbles. This one produces multiple streams of froth (the vids showed so much potential), so it looks like nothing else out there. Plus the science suggests it should provide a very high level of moisture conditioning _and_ diffusion (mixing). (And if recyclers are anything to go by, people are happy to sacrifice performance to have a cool visual gimmick...)

The slots in the bottom of the tree prolly aren't actually needed, but since you seem to get them premade I guess there's nothing you can do about that?

yea we get the trees premade so we could cut them down in height to reduce the overall height

something i've been playing with seeing all the new stubby trees that toro is putting out makes me want to make one also ( trying to fit a triple tree in a box is a bitch )

theres been enough postitive response from the V2 model that we are going to make a production model next month and see where that leads us.

i know most members of this forum seem to enjoy bubbs more than actual tubes so maybe a bubb version will follow

Certainly wouldn't be accused of copying Toro,

Swagger Glass has the short chubby trees too
(hope you don't mind it posted in the AEON thread :ninja:)

The example posted by SD_haze sparked thoughts of vape water tools like the hydratubes but with a wider intended market. With an 18mm female bottom joint to accept GonG adapters for the solo and other vapes, a large audience would be immediately available. Don't want to spread you too thin, but have you considered such a project Jhan.

Best,
