Very quick question about eating ABV...

Hey guys. So I've had my vape for a while and have a good amount of ABV collected. Everything I have read says that the good stuff is already activated from being vaped, and thus does not need to be cooked or processed in any way to eat.

So...why do people go to the trouble? Is it purely to mask the taste (which I know is pretty bad), or is there more to it than that? Even for firecrackers, which IMO actually taste very good since even a little peanut butter hides the ABV taste so easily, people recommend you put them in the microwave. Why? I just ask because when I tried before, even that stinks up my kitchen (and past experiments with fresh suggest that brownies would be worse) and I'd like know what I'd be putting myself in that compromising situation for.

Just wondering if the consensus is "You don't NEED to cook it...but you should" or if it's just plain "There is no medical benefit from cooking it."

Great Scott!
Some people say it is stronger if you cook it. I'd imagine these are just people who vape very lightly, but I'm not positive either way.

I think most of the reason people still cook with ABV is to bind it to a fat. You can just dump ABV in a container of PB and chew down, but it won't be as potent (heresay, have not actually tested myself) as if you let it sit for a few weeks or cook it for a while. Something about more bio-available actives. Same logic as the cold-brew tincture, you can drink it after a few hours but is more potent after a week.

I'm sure someone more knowledgeable can come along and correct me, or give a better explanation, but that's what I've come to the conclusion to so far.

Vaping bud decarboxylates it, an important step in making edibles with fresh / green weed, and one which you can skip if you're only using AVB (decarbing ordinarily takes place in an oven, around 100c for 30 minutes).

Either way though, you still need to extract it into a fat, alcohol or glycerin. If you eat it as-is, you may get some effect, but I guarantee the bulk of it will pass through your system, wasted.

No need to cook or mix with anything it taste good right out of the box.
this is part of my ritual with the MFLB . I'm one of those Lb users that opens up my box alot to stir my bud, normally in the palm of my hand , when the trench is done and the avb is a nice light brown it goes from my palm to the middle of my tongue wash it down with what ever I'm drinking. now I almost crave the taste at the end a session . I live in a non mmj state and don't need extra weight of AVB around . just going with that "waste not, want not" mentality and don't wanna throw it away. For me Part of trying keep vapin' a little more frugal .

I agree with the ABV going through your system theory. Based on my own experience I get a better affect from cooking the ABV into something. It is almost like the good stuff leeches out into your binder ingredient and it allows your body to metabolize it more efficiently. As opposed to just passing through.

On a side note, I am pretty happy my wife loves to bake... and bake.

If i were to save just like a gram or so and washed it down with a small cup of milk would I get more effect or No ?

when i eat AVB i try to eat it w/ something fatty.. and some alcohol if you like that kinda thing;)... i find it kicks in slower, smoother, and lasts longer.. and if i do cook it and strain it i feel it kicks in a little faster.. but lasts less long.. i would say not straining gives me more consistent results in general though.

rude boy.. you can try a spoon full of ice cream.. iv'e had good results w/ that.

What is the difference between the feeling you get from ingesting AVB compared to cannabutter made from green bud or frosty trim?

I've heard AVB will only put you to sleep, not get you stoned.
