I use a dremmel tool, I bought a wire cleaning brush and it seriously gets it brand new looking, you can even get the gook out of the small crevices in the top of the screen. I finish it with a cotton buffer after sometimes, completely not necessary but I do have slight ocd and it needs to be spotless for me when I clean it. You can use hot water and qtips as I stated the other day, I seriously have never been more surprised, it works amazing. I didnt try it on the screen, but I cleaned my ovens to brand new condition with just qtips and water, allowing the pax to heat up while I scrub it with wet qtips. The ovens get worse than the screen so I'd bet it works great, I'll give it a shot and tell you how it goes. Magic erasers are pritty wonderful too, expensive and basically one time use per chunk but still works great. nice name lol

You can use the cloth tips too and they work great for the stem of the mouthpiece, the wire wheel works great on the mouthpiece stem too but I worry its a bit rough for the job. I paid 20 bucks for 3 screens in store, plus I had to drive 45 minutes to get there, for that price, you can get a new dremel.

So it's interesting that we assume there are different generations.. After talking directly too Pax looks like it's not a generation so much as a assembly line made on date. Different paint mixers, thickness of paint, etc... but cool to know what we should look for thanks!!

For smell, my boyfriend who is co owner of the Pax, says the second gen smells less than the first.
I dont notice as much as he does, but to me it was pretty similar smell.

I have had the Pax for 3 months. Love it - I quit smoking.
I am looking for help in swapping out the stock battery with a brand new Panasonic 18650 3400 mah li-ion battery (Pax's stock is 2600 mah). This new battery is noted as being the strongest in the world for its size.
I received a replacement Pax with a smoother finish after my first Pax's oven wouldn't hold screens anymore (defective). My new Pax takes 2 hours to charge vs. 55 minutes for my old Pax. I also believe my new Pax has a little less quality battery than the first, and the charge time being double this does not really make much sense. I still get a good 5 sessions out of the new Pax but i want to upgrade my battery.
So I need some help.
- Do i purchase a protected version or a non-protected version of the 3400mah battery? (protected has a micro chip in it)
- What else will i need to know? I have already purchased a Torx #4 bit for this project, and i can solder.

Yeah the pax's "generations" are just MP and finish changes... the vape itself is largely the same thing from the beginning! (Turned off it doesn't smell too much, but be comfortable before you click it on.
Replacing the battery won't improve the charge time unfortunately

that battery in the link is too big (69mm) for the pax. you can use an unprotected battery, because the pax has it's own internal cutoff. you have to watch the battery size (65 mm-66mm). some protected batteries are longer, because of the chip (like yours).
Quite the opposite in fact. A larger capacity battery obviously will take even longer to charge.
I believe it was concluded somewhere in this thread that the Pax has battery-specific code in its logic so swapping the battery isn't straightforward, but perhaps I'm thinking of a different thread.

Pax is pretty finicky on its own, I probably wouldnt be so confident of an owner if I didnt have a ten year warranty backing it. I'd just hang in there and wait, perhaps they will do an overhaul and you will not be able to take advantage of an exchange if and when they do. You can try using it full to dead a few times, my charge time has improved by a half hour on one of my models, although my newest model does take 2 hours to charge last time I checked.mod note: Edited to fix incorrectly attributed quote. I thought that bug had been fixed, guess not.

I think it was the Puffit that had battery-specific code in its logic - something to do with using the USB standard for charging.
JoeKickAss took one for the team and installed a new battery. I am pretty sure he said it wasn't worth the trouble. I am definitely sure the Ploomarati would frown on it!
no-solder swappable batteries. the gray battery is the original, the green is a panasonic $15.00, the purple ones are chinese 2 for $12.00. i soldered micro bullet connectors on the batteries and wires, just plug em in and go. theres not a big difference in performance, but the panasonic does get almost 2 hours of high (red) on party mode. they all charge up to green in 1hr 10min, but I'll bet the larger capacity batteries need to stay on longer to get a full charge. I did the mod just for kicks once i saw ppl on here doing it. I left the original battery intact, I'm confident i can put the pax back together in original shape, should i ever have to send it back.

Been looking in a few of the LHSs and such and not finding a good smell-proof case/bag as well. I'm not asking for miracle in blocking smell -- I'm willing to give up a bit of that to replace the zip-lock bag I use otherwise. Not very fashionable carrying arrangement for such a fashion statement.

I'd look at small pelican and otterbox cases. They crush proof, impact proof, and water proof. Thus they are airtight no smell can escape. This is what I do with my Whispr. I got one big enough for the whisper, a poker, a stash box, and a mini mini 2 piece grinder.

I know about the indestructi-cases (which are actually really great for what they are), but looking for something a bit more pocket/backpack friendly. Basically like a zip-lock that's not a zip-lock, lol... Something fabric or feels good handling and comfortable to stash in a front pocket while cutting down the obvious smell.. like I said, doesn't have to be air-tight, just non-mmj-friendly-friendly.
