Gear Health Stone Glass - Vapor Slides

smokum

I am who I am and your approval isn't needed!
lol.. ok, so personal preference I suppose...

I have both and prefer my nail over the stone (not saying the stone isn't good, was just curious to your reasoning), and never have the issues you mention as I prefer micro dabs (rinse repeat IF necessary), and I never heat my nail to glowing red.

Different strokes ?? ya, me thinks so... but I'll admit for 'on the run' that the stone IS definitely the smart preference (that and if around sharing stoners :D )

I love the healthstone. Just used it infact. I would say the healthstone definitly produces 100% vapor. I prefer HSG>ti, I would agree that different strokes for different people. I like the heavy hits and how much (or how little) I can use.

When I use a Ti it's not glowing red either. In fact I'll let it cool to not-red and then dab. I've used a Health Stone before and while I do like it, I still prefer my glass nail. You can load and go with the HS, though. Melt the errl in, let it cool, and it's re-solidified and is holding itself inside the pores. I'd say this is an improvement and would make me want a HS over a nail for portability purposes, but my DART is doing just fine for oils right now. My friend (who has the one I used) loves his HS though.

This one has grabbed my attention. I don't use oils much, but I was wondering how this would perform like a VG. I might pick up the pipe version (used) to tinker with, see how well it handles flowers under the stone. I have already built my own glass gong version of the VG using VG glass top on a 14-18 expander, so I don't see why this won't work, it's a very similar set up... I know it's also good as an oil disk from what I have been able to dig up so far, it's just a matter of getting the correct distance from your torch so it doesn't taste bad. If I follow through, I'll be back to post my experience. Boy I would love to get a source on that ceramic stone material...

those HSG pipes are crazy expensive jamba, ~200$. if you wanted to grab a gong attachment with stone that is only going to run you around $70. Which is what i have and it is awesome. I have only used wax/oil on the HSG. im interested if flowers would work. Also i havent had an issue with bad taste. look forward to your hearing about experience:cool:

I saw one in the classifieds, so I am waiting to hear back on it. Otherwise, I'll just pick up some of the stones from ALT and play with the glass I have here. Thanks for the heads up. ;)

*** oops pipe seems to be spoken for, so I will probably just order a stone from ALT> more when I get it.

^^ done

... and I went to ALT's site and ordered a single stone to mess with.... now I almost wish I had not seen these, I really want one of the new cooling, worked up hand pipes. It's going to have to wait a while.

How easy is it to remove the stone from the bowl? Is it just a matter of flipping it over and tapping it out? They just added new pipes on ALT, and that rainbow colored one is tempting me, it sure is sick!

The sliders are easy. You flip them and push it out with a toothpick or something. The Sherlock is a different story. I cannot figure out how to remove it. They are tight fits and once used the oil bonds it to the glass.

You could always drop it in a cup of ISO... should loosen it up, plus you get to reclaim your oil :)

should the stone be soaked in iso?? I know on the VG site they don't reccomend soaking that stone material, just wondering if anyone has first hand experience cleaning it this way?

I have not soaked my stone in ISO. It taste too good to chance tainting it. One thing you may try, after its sticky, is heating it up. That seems to loosen the sliders, but like I said, I have yet to remove the Sherlock stone. And I have tried several times.

I kind of want that cooling style pipe, but in all clear, I wonder if they'll ever make those. I like the frosted ones but they just don't have the cooling stem, so I don't really want to bother with them. I guess I'll just have to wait a bit longer as I am having trouble justifying dropping another $200+ on a pipe right now, just to satisfy my curiosity. They are gorgeous pieces though, and very tempting for sure. Well, I'll keep an eye open for a sale, 4/20 is coming up soon.

They have Free Stone Friday (FSF) on Facebook. It's usually as simple as liking a post and commenting. They give away atleast a slider each week, sometimes rigs. That's actually how I got most of mine. 1 full price slider, 1 $20 factory second, 1 free one, and a $100 inner cooled Sherlock with lighter.

It's just a matter of being lucky I guess.

I think that's their trick. Lure you in with a free offer, post sick pictures, then sell awesome pipes to people who originally wanted a free one

I got my single healthstone disk in today! :D So far it's working as well as the VG stone seems to, for vaping herb. I have tried it in my glass VG sherlock in place of the usual top, and slipped the healthstone in, hit it with a small blue flame to heat, so it does work for this application, it's just a PITA to get in and out, so I rigged up a little bit of a paperclip to use as a handle to get it out easier, not too worried about the paperclip, it doesn't really get direct heat. It also works well in my 14-18 expander gong vape. I am still very curious to see how the standard pipe behaves using it this way. I have not tried putting oil on the stone yet, just using it to vape herb for now. I also entered that friday contest on FB so who knows... I am pleased this is working, and will be playing around to see what else I can do.
