Arizer Solo

Ok guys, a little help would be appreciated.

I think my original M102 is on its last legs :|

Basically, last night I went to use it, so I packed a stem, turned on the solo and set it to 4.

After about 5 minutes, I noticed it was still only showing a heat level of 1, and the heater light was on solid, not flashing.
(Interestingly, the top of the stem was warm, so it definitely heated up a little bit)

I tried plugging it into the charger, and I just get a flashing green light, no indicators of the current batt level at all.

I then did a search here, and found this:

So I tried that, and it now seems to be heating up properly :)
But I still get the strange charging behaviour of just a flashing green light :\

Anyone got any ideas what could be causing this or what I should do with it?
(I'm hoping it just means I no longer have the batt indicator while charging, but everything else will run ok )

How old is your M102 ?
Do you use it daily ?
We've all been wondering , when will we need to change the battery in our Solos .
I realize , all members use their Solo with different settings and frequencies .
Keep us posted , if you can still use your Solo , with the indicator problems .

Not daily, I'd probably average a batt cycle or 2 per week. Sometime a batt cycle per day if I'm using it really heavily, but that's not my norm.

I've been keeping an eye on that Custom Battery thread (anyone should check it out if they havent heard of it - http://fuckcombustion.com/threads/custom-arizer-solo-high-performance-battery-packs.6835/)

I'm thinking that might need to be happening soon

Update:
My solo now has lights 1 & 2 on, with number 3 spazzing on and off, I'm hoping I just accidentally ran it too low and it just need to charge back to full.

2nd update as I'm typing this, while there's no discernable pattern to it's crazy flashing (the 3 light), it does seem to be going from spending more time off, to more time on - to now just on as I look at it...

My batt might be on it's last legs, Maybe I should swap it out with the bat from my M105 :hmm:

At least it looks like it's charging though :D

EDIT:
I was typing this post while you posted Dreamerr, I think you might be right.

did you let the battery drain entirely when you were using it?

i start on 2 and usually get 2 or 3 twelve min sessions on a full load.

then bump it to 3 and get another solid twelve min session.

the solo is amazing.
How are you able to get that much use out of a single pack!? I usually only pack about half a stem with a couple pokes with my pinky to pack it down slightly and start on 3. I take about 6-8 hits on 3 and than up to 5 and get maybe 4 more than max it out and get 1 or 2 hits... Granted i'm using less flowers considering the half pack, but I don't see how you could get 3-4 12 minute sessions on a load, but props to you that's awesome, the solo is definitely a great piece. My hits are long and light and I pull until I can't breathe anymore and get solid clouds. My favorite temp is 3 for sure, great flavor, smooth and nice clouds. On another note I have a Quick question,
How long do all of you wait in between hits?
I tend to only wait like 10 or so seconds and cover the mouthpiece with my finger to prevent any vapor seeping out, but between the half packed stem and the somewhat speedy pace of hits I rarely end up using the full 12 minute session. Does this sound appropriate/common?

I always finish the 12 minute session. But i always have the bowl near filled (not pushed down). When i have it on setting 2, i can do 2 of those sessions. I usually have the temp on 3 though.

On the rare event that i use setting 5, i never finish the 12 minute session because it just doesn't seem necessary. Vapor forms so quickly on that setting and the weed always comes out looking totally extracted before that.

Before I killed my M107, it had issues with lights as well ... when I heated the machine up the 1 button would light instead of the idle button ... it happened while I was in Amsterdam...even tho the Solo was fine and his death had nothing to do with that but water spillage ;/
Its a bug in the F/W...

My new Solo does this--the lights "flicker" more and more until they stay on, one by one until the battery is full.

I am who I am and your approval isn't needed!
On mine (M102), the green charging light flashes, the blue idle light stays on solid, and the numbered lights progress gradually as it takes the charge. The 'latest' level being reached will flicker on & off until it's reached 'its' charge level then stay solid and move to the next level up until all are lit solid.

I've never noticed personally, but I believe the flashing green charging light goes solid or off (I'll keep track this time round and update), once the charging is complete.

On a side note (and I don't know & doubt it makes a difference really), I leave my charger plug it constant, and when I want to charge my Solo.... I will plug the pin connecter (live) into the Solo.

i agree that most often i only have it on for 5-8 minutes at a time, but i will run full 12 min sessions just to keep track for myself. ive been fortunate enough to find super trich rich material to vape. im bringing my solo to a "pot luck" tonight and will see how the dif strains affect the longevity of the bowl.

i havent paid much attention to how long i wait between pulls because im usually trying hold the hits in. when vaping with the wife i will rip it pass it to her and she rips it right away and we dont notice any degradation in vapor production because of it. i wouldnt worry about losing those tiny amounts of vapor out of the mouthpiece between pulls. you probably exhale much more than that each rip right?

Just because the red charge light is flashing ,
Does Not mean you can't vape or hit it .
I never pay attention to when it's flashing or not , before I vape .
I only listen for the beep at the end of the 12 minute session .

For long sessions ,
I like to start/end the cycle on the clock .
For example ,
Start at 12 noon , it will shut off on the 12 / 24 /36 /48 minute mark ...aprox .

I find different strains and dryness of herb does make a difference on the longevity of
your sessions . But it is the higher temp. levels that will shorten your sessions . ime

^ I agreed its a better experience not worrying about the light. I think I only worry about it at the start to make sure im actually at the level I want to be and if someone new is trying it then I try to make sure the light is off I guess because I want them to get a good hit.

As I read the FV thread out of curiosity im glad I bought my solo. The FV really started getting attention after I ordered and I wondered if I made the right choice. The FV seems like a great deal and great product (like the solo), but some negatives that would bother me is parts breaking (they will hopefully get the kinks out), people saying its always best to have a fresh battery otherwise they notice the power difference, even with the V2 kit there still is technique needed and no temp control (your technique dictates temp).

Biggest benefit to some of these other vapes seems to be that you can take a quick hit. But honestly 1-2min wait time doesnt seem bad to me and I much prefer the tried and true reliability of the solo.

Our solo's must be cousins  my m102 acts just like that. And the green light goes solid once the charge is complete. I drive my solo pretty hard every day - I would say I average about 6 stems a day on it. I put some serious mileage on that fucker!

I usually run 4 stems through my m1a4 a day. 2 on setting 3 dry and 2 on setting seven through water. My dry runs are actually 2 full cycles each and the water runs are just the one cycle. Light golden abc on the dry, darker full roast on the wet. I pack medium ground top top shelf meds pretty tight actually (still an easy draw though).

I'm gonna try heat setting 2 tonight.

I already draw pretty light on settings 4&5 and it's still sorta hard to get clouds.

Idk how much lighter I can draw for 2 lol

I've been switching it up the past few days and starting on level 2 and am enjoying it a lot more, and my sessions are longer.. Definitely a great taste and some solid clouds, than I go to 3 and hit it till I don't get any vapor and than blast it at seven to get the last of it out

That is not normal. When at level 4 and 5 with a long slow draw you should be getting huge clouds. Make sure your stem is no packed so much that you don't get decent air flow. Make sure your stem is fully inserted in the device. Make sure your herb is reasonably dry. If you did all that and you're still not blowing clouds you may have a defective heater. I would call Arizer for assistance...

Also, I don't understand why you would want to go to level 2 when your not even getting quality vapor on level 5. That doesn't make sense....

I use level 4 most of the time however If I use it a lot I prefer level 3.

Level 5?

Yeah, I think if you had to use one level for an entire session, level 4 would be my choice. That said I usually start at level 3 ( great flavor) move to 4 for the bulk of the session, then finish the last 2 or 3 hits on level 5 just to get that nice med/dark brown avb.....

The problem is, keepsake, is not even getting good vapor on level 5. Therefore, I think his unit is defective....

I mostly vape at level 5, I love the 200C mark...
In the morning tho, I do setting 4 before work ;)

I always start with my PVHES GoNG and my HT and finish it dry.
