I want to reiterate a very important part of cloud college.
Cord management!
So I've done nothing but baby my clouds, cord management was always important. So important that I picked up some cord management clips(office depot), that adhere them selves on the side of my desk.
Well on Saturday I had a buddy slothing around while I was trying to ship something internationally quick(unsuccessful). So I removed the cord from the clip to allow him to vape in his chair and not get up. Well I was running around with my head chopped off,and I caught the cord with my foot, and down goes my cloud from about 2 feet. Sure enough, it landed directly on its joint. It was my basement, so it was carpet over concrete. To my surprise, the glass survived the fall, but did get pushed in an 1/8" or so. Still heats, still vapes, such a relief.
So in the end, please guys and gals, be careful with your cords. I don't think most units would survive such a fall, and I feel lucky.

whew! glad ur not s.o.l.!! yea, i refuse to string cords anywhere w/out those flattener/cover things (real technical) got two different leg lengths so i'm always dragging a foot. and the a.d.d. makes me forget it's there. between the two, walking over cords is a big no-no in my house

I'm the guy havealight is trying to ship to!!! ... he's got it all set for tomorrow morning and should make it before my trip ... thanks for the effort to get it shipped out, and also glad your Cloud survived the fall).I had a buddy drop one of my Clouds back in Sept. 2012 (a similar fall) and it survived as well.
So maybe this is why they shortened the cord so much on the Plus? Less chance of someone tripping on it?
For me the short cord really sucks. I'm going to have redo my whole Cloud station. A six foot cord leaves very little room to use the Cloud if the outlet is not directly where you are.

I experimented with some different oils last night. I was able to get some pretty big rips, but I wasn't viewing from the side so can't say for sure how they compared to yours.
You mentioned in your PM that you always vape oil with the cloud upside down in a glass piece to prevent anything dripping into the cloud. I did this for a while too, but I lost a few big drops of oil which mostly splashed onto the CloudBuddy, some into my glass bubbler joint. I then tried vaping right-side-up using the dry piece and I liked it better. I didn't get anything dripping through the bottom either. My feeling is that since the 2-cap is sitting above an empty ELB, the ELBS will act as a splashguard to ane extent. So far my ELB appears clean after use.
To me it seems less likely to drip when right-side-up, because the airflow is fighting the gravity. When upside down, airflow and gravity team up. Does anybody else have this issue, or could it be unique to me and or my oil?
Also after 2-3 caps being refilled, it seemed like my oil had a tendency to wick up the sides between the caps and not fully vape. Same behavior upside down or right side up. I had to dissasemble the 2 caps and put the top-cap upside down basically just balancing on the other cap. Then the oil built around the sides vaped easily in 1 or 2 hits using the dry tube. It seems like the caps acted like a heatsink wicking up some of the oil.

I have the same problem with the two cap method upside down. I was using some concentrate which was more flaky breakable material that turned to powder vs a wax and kept it upside down in my glass. When I start my draw the wax drips between the two caps and sandwiches itself between the two rings where there is no airflow and no vaping happening. It is also really sticky and hard to remove. I also get oil sticking to the insides at the top or at least it is a dirty looking residue that I then have to clean.
I had thought to put a bit of cotton at the bottom of the elb to catch anything. I have also done the method of sandwiching between flowers and that is the most effective but then I feel after the 5th or 6th pull that I am starting to taste a bit of burnt flower in there with the concentrate.
I don't want a specialty vape for oils when I rarely use them and would like to figure out the best way to use the cloud with this. The topic of waxes come up from time to time in here but the discussion usually ends with the suggestion of sandwiching the oil between flowers but I would love to hear more discussion on possible other ways to vape it the most cleanly. To me the best would be to find a substance like those gold mesh coffee filters that supposedly add no taste. Maybe that is a mod to do to the cloud. Another idea is to try bits of cotton from a Qtip end. People have done that with the solo and concentrates. Are there any other easy to obtain substances that add no taste to a hot air path but could also contain the drippy oil?

so far the way I have found that wastes the least oil is actually to just use 1 cap, add the dab, then wait 1-2 minutes for the dab to flatten out onto the cap using only the rising heat (so you don't accidentally lift up the oil with your inhale since there's no screen above).
Before I was kinda squishing the oil between the 2 caps which made it want to wick up. Seems like if you get it to pre-wick on the bottom screen this helps. probably can add the top screen back after this happens just try not to let it touch the oil.

why not use a bit of that volcano SS sponge material (oil disk) in the ELB?? Seems that would keep the oil in place with out using other materials with it. Any thoughts? I have not used the SS sponge myself, yet, though I have some here, so I don't know how well it would work in this application. You would have to re-shape it to fit in the ELB. Wear gloves if you try... I hear you can get SS slivers.

I don't have oils but do have pressed hash . . . fwiw . . . the only thing I like about the two-cap method is that, if you're combining with flowers in the ELB, that ELB can be reloaded if the material in the cap is not spent yet. But I don't like how it can render the caps/ELB ill-fitting. Also, if using flowers in the ELB too, heat energy is absorbed by the herb before it reaches the cap. And I don't like sandwiching for the same reason as you, unevenness.
So I focused on proportion and evenness. I'll fine grind, say, .15g of herb, then .1g of the hash, and mix the two together with my fingers, breaking down the hash. I end up with not-quite-sticky fluff. If the herb proportion is right, it will last about as long as the hash and I don't get burnt herb taste. It also vapes very evenly, although a quick stir might be needed. These loads almost entirely vape away, leaving just a little remaining very dark powder. This may be a dumb method, but it seems to work nicely for me anyway, YMMV.
I wonder if this method would work with an oil too, after allowing for some absorption? I'll stop here, as at this point I'm talking out of my ass.

I am curious about this method. Do you just put it in the top of the cap and set that on the cloud to melt a little from the rising heat and then put the second cap on after it has spread even? I am imagining you put an empty ELB in the cloud and put some oil on top of that for a minute I am guessing and then cap the rest off? Do you invert at all?

So I had a rough (READ: WONDERFULLY FANTASTICALLY AWESOME) first month as a cloud owner.... first back up, thanks to finding this forum, I made the transition to vapor (forever) and choose to order a cloud after hours of reading on all different types of vaporizers. I had used a few different ones over the years and even felt that the volcano wasn't a full time replacement for smoking, so I wanted to be sure that I got a vape that would help me to seal the deal.... It seemed that the cloud was that vape according to the reviews here and I got it AND the devastator! It is every bit as good as advertised and BETTER (for all you who post your questions over and over). I got another (cloud/devastator) for a family member soon after, but then tragedy struck: My wife knocked over the cloud /devastator (when she was using it) and the devastator shattered..... but in Indiana Jones-like reflex, I found myself mid-air, in a prone dive and actually got a hand under the cloud before it hit the floor. Instant replay confirmed the reception, but the cloud seemed to get a concussion nonetheless, developing intermittent operational consistency issues. Like billybob on Varsity Blues, it kept getting worse until I decided that it would be best to go in to get its cat scanned. I did NOT want to be without vapor, but it didn't look like I had a choice..... then I tried to smoke a joint... um nope. I immediately got a headache and hated myself. I haven't been on such a mission in a long time, but I embarked to ship the cloud and try maybe to pick up a portable to get me through the break...
I ended up having a really fortunate day; I was lucky to find an early Cloud Model and the discontinued evolver hydracirc 1.0 collecting dust almost hidden in a display case at a local shop!! I blurted, "im buying that!" as soon as i saw it. The shop guys said that (the owner or his friend or something, who knows) picked it up in Vegas a year ago or so at a convention or something, but no one knew anything about how to use it, and no one ever asked about it so it just sat unpurchased in the case, forgotten amongst a sea of volcanos, SSV, and Buddhas. It didn't have a box or any ELBs and upon discriminate inspection, it looks like there's a a faint hard water mark on the inner part.. So now my guess is that it was demo'd at purchase or used VERY lightly a few times and then put out for sale. It takes MUCH longer to heat up, and the temp control is different from the first one I own, no rubber on the bottom of the bamboo etc.
With the Evolver Hydracirc 1.0 I must say I was worried about safety, but oh my goodness... I am at ease with the loss of the devastator.... I took it over to family's house and attached it to their devastator; WOW. what a combo.
To anyone who is questioning this purchase I say this: If cannabis is a part of your life in a big way, 4g +/day or similar, a VXL Cloud is a must for your home. Every hour that you DON'T have the Cloud, is an hour that I PROMISE you'll be regretting later.
EDIT: Even if your needs are much less, I can assure you that the Cloud saves you big $ by essentially cutting your intake needs in half; or more accurately, it efficiently delivers (seemingly) twice the actives that normally get absorbed through smoking. Ask yourself how fast the investment will pay for itself..... for me that answer was less than a month (Severe Chronic Neck Pain) so it was a no brainer... for my folks, it'll pay for itself in 4 months... but quality and health-wise, you are cutting out other healthcare costs and saving all over... I think it says something when customers do the work and the company can let the product speak on its own through consumer feedback...

What happens if the Cloud was to be bought now after the 16th of February, from Puffitup for example, and the bamboo broke but it was not a model that had removable bamboo? I would still have to pay the $150 for you guys to replace the glass/give me a new cloud? But if it say pooped out before the bamboo broke, and was a warranty issue you guys would trade out my cloud for one of the updated models?

I believe the answer to the last two questions are yes. From my understanding, it is broken bamboo=$150 repair if you have bought a Cloud after the 16th or bought the Cloud+ extended warranty. As far as I know a broken bamboo is not covered under any warranty.

I haven't seen any exclusion of the bamboo in the terms of the warranty. It's a matter of how the bamboo was broken. Clearly it will typically be the user's fault, so no coverage. But if the unit itself malfunctions causing damage to the bamboo (as unlikely as that would be), IMO it would be covered.

My birthday is coming up and I am considering buying a brand new cloud plus to hold me over until the broken one gets replaced.. So my question is, will I for sure be getting the cloud plus if I order from vapexhale.com this week?
In the event this happens to me again In the future ill have a trusty backup

Well I hate to throw a wrench into the machine, but it appears I need to take back every comment I have made about the Cloud Plus so far.
I was in some e-mails with VapeXHale, when BryanC noticed a discrepancy in their records, and he said they accidentally shipped me a regular Cloud from the wrong location!! Doh!! And he said they have changed the firmware and profile over time so it's plausible that it does behave very different than the cloud I had.
So they are shipping me a correct cloud plus today and I will have to re-post my impressions next week. Sorry for any confusion but I swear it wasnt my fault this time
