I have recently received a Da Buddha vaporizer and I wonder which are the best tricks to get the maximum efficiency through It.

I heard that SSV whip kits work really well with this unit. What should I get if I want to get the maximum out of my vape?

I already have an ashcatcher I use to cool and soften the vapors.

Loving my first home vape.. there is a pretty big difference compared to portables, from medication size to flavor and taste... DBV is so smooth and the whip attaches easily to everything. Im going to try and eliminate the whip to get full glass on glass vape.

Has anyone used the cotton with BHO method in the glass stem like a solo? I would like to try this out if someone already has.

I'm getting a really nice buildup in the wand now and I've heard you can clean it in such a way as to "harvest" thc that's covering the inside. Does anyone know how to do this or if it's possible to make some kind of hash out of what's in the wand?

just use the pick that came with your da buddha and scape the edges on the inside and add to a bowl.

Though I am not a religious man and would not call myself a Bhuddist... I am now a worshipper of Da Bhuddha.

edit: I don't want to overstate this but this thing is the best thing ever...even better than the cure for polio.

edit2: And with the Leviathan attached with the clear tubing it has this crazy look.. 2 cans.. one grey and shiny one clear. I have a couple of Ikea gooseneck lights shining down into the Lev can to observe vapor more accurately. It's wacky.. but it somehow works quite well on a desktop. Better than other (ultimately doomed) erector sets i have used prior.

THE BIG BHUDDHA BUMMER:

I've had the fat man around for a few weeks now.. long enough to have burnt bits here and there when I haven't been careful. So, I'm running the tubing into a Leviathan and have my method pretty down. Love.this.thing. Yet.. here I am, method down, at sweet heat spot...almost in riding a bike mode.. reading a web page when suddenly, for no apparent reason.. aaaaaaaagh.. blech.. cough..cough cough...spit ,spit cough.. oh no...fire! fire!! blowing bits out of the way.. coughing the nastiest stuff from deep in my lungs (my experience and technique gets it down deep). ohh...the stink. the purety of my blissful perfect vapor has been desecrated.. I almost have PTSD. what happened? i will never know.

Oh no, the tragedy of it all! I've had that happen to me quite a few times as well, happens to the best of us. Oh well, learning experience of not inhaling too much or else you'll get burned weed all over your heater! :argh:

I think the sad lesson is you can't do it on autopilot. It's like driving, something unexpected often happens and you have to be ready for it. :)

Edit: Paricularly when paired with a bubbler that has some sort of chugging back action that blows your herbs into the heater easily.

Yeah those are the worst, when it has a long stem too and it blows air back in.

I use to get that dreaded 'blow-back' when I'd connect my DBV to my bong. Instead of pulling out the 'stem' from my bong I've been pulling the wand out first then clear the chamber. Forces me to keep stirring and I get some pretty good rips this way.

In the short time since initial blowback occurred.. more has occurred.. but also I have refined my method. I'm getting all manual with it.. twisting it, pull it out, sticking it back in (shutup you dirty jokesters). But the main thing is, I pull the stem first and keep pulling.. as wonderful things continue to happen. I often pull til its clear and then clear the remaining. The main thing is.. pull the stem...get the remaining vapor.. pull the wand.. clear.

That said, I get greedy or impatient or whatever and bump it or blow it or whatever and bad things happen. Actually, I'm kind of forcing myself to use a set amount and keep it at just above noon. Sometimes, I'll dial it up a tad. But I can go forever without black at noon.

If you let the water reset before you put the tube/adapter back into the bong there shouldn't be any blow back. I used to have that problem with one of my stemless but not the beaker.

When I received my Da Buddha back from the Canadian Warranty depot I thought; I’ve gotta share this story...
Sorry for the long first post...I managed to read the first 80 pages of this thread before my Buddha adventure began and I intend on finishing it soon...thanks to all for sharing your wisdom.
Here's the gist...
1) Sunday night place my order online @ Vaporizers.ca
2) Monday morning unit shipped by Vaporizers.ca
3) Friday morning unit arrived at my rural location followed by an evening of vapor bliss :~)
4) Saturday evening unit died/would not heat up at all :~(
5) email support@vaporizers.ca & customercare@7thfloor.biz to explain my situation and disappointment.
6) Monday ship unit to Canadian Warranty depot.
7) Tues/Wed some (un-necessary) hand ringing and concern over the warranty repair process...search online forums for similar experiences (thankfully very few found; just unlucky for me I guess)
8) Thursday unit delivered to warranty depot.
9) Friday receive email from support@vaporizers.ca telling me that unit has arrived at depot and they will get to it right away.
10) Tuesday Brand New Unit arrives to my rural location!! followed by an evening of vapor bliss!!

I must clarify that when I sent my unit in for repair I did as instructed and only sent the vape; no glass, carrying bag, tube, etc. When the unit was returned I received an ENTIRE new unit including new bag, wand, tube, mouthpiece, heater cover, pick and screens! WOW!!
I am very impressed with the timely and helpful service that I received not to mention the valuable bonuses! I am still a little unclear as to whether Vaporizers.ca or 7th Floor was driving the bus in this case but I would highly recommend both as this situation was resolved beyond my expectations.
I will be telling many about this positive customer service experience and I've already placed another order.
Thanks again guys!
Cheers!

Hi I just broke my fatty vapor tamer and had to reorder a new one. It is the best for great sweet cool vapes. In addition I purchased the elev 8 super tamer. When I use the fatty tamer I hook it up directly to the hose with no problems. Looking at the photo of the elev 8 can't tell how wide the openings are so my question is do you need anything extra to hook it up to the hose? Thanks in advance for the advice. Jeff

Cybermouse,
I'm assuming the elev 8 super tamer is that 8 arm ashcatcher deal? If so you will probably need a reducer in order for the tubing to fit.

Here is a photo of it the description is says a tamer with 45mm ground glass joints. If I do need an adapter what should I look for? They have 19mm male adapters and just ones called vapor hose adapters. Thanks. Jeff

Hi all  As a chronic puffer for decades who is a newbie to vaping; I wanted to say thanks to everyone for sharing stories and wisdom in this thread. It has really been valuable info to help me make my first vape purchase (see post #2843) and in helping ease the learning curve during the early stages of this new relationship ;)
I have already experimented with pairing my small bong (Phillup, Phillup Da Bong) with Da Buddha by just removing the mouthpiece from the whip and stuffing the tube into the downpipe where the bowl/stem usually go.
Couple of questions...1) the plastic tube is approx 14mm OD and the downpipe is approx 10mm OD Where can I find an adapter for that joint? 2) Phillup is overdue for a clean in order to fully appreciate the vape smoothness and taste; previously I've used the course salt, alcohol and shaking method. Wondering if anyone would suggest somthing else?
Enjoying watching the golden residue build up in the wand and the duff fill up the jar with eager anticipation of utilizing these vape 'bonuses' (suggestions welcome :)
Thanks again gang!
Cheers!!

Hello everyone, I've been a dyed in the wool 'buster for over 40 years. I'm on my 3rd day of using my dbv (first vape owned, smoked out of Volcano once 5-6 years ago), and although I'm sure I will continue 'busting here and there in social situations, vaping will be the rule in my house from now on.

I love:

1) The clear, uplifting high and the amazing flavor.

Vaping kief from trim, or finger/scissor hash on a bed of green produced the best highs I've experienced in decades. Even simply vaping the fine organic outdoor Cali I previously 'busted is a revelation to my jaded cannabinoid receptors and taste buds. Even when I push the temp. to almost toasting the bud, and the high is more "indica like", it is still feels clearer and cleaner than if I 'busted. It is so cool to experience the different highs from different vaping temps for the first time.

Even though I will mostly be loading small bowls for efficiency, l found that loading large bowls, and taking hits on the lower end of the vaping temp scale produce hits that taste soo f*ing good and give such an incredible high. I am at a loss for words to describe the degree of improvement in the high and taste that vaporizing imparts to the cannabis experience.

2) The efficiency of the dbv. The first 2 days I owned the dbv i went crazy. i took it to my buddies and vaped a bunch of folks out. However, I am at a point where I need to decrease my consumption from about an 1/8th a day to about 1.5g if I want my stash to last until next harvest season (I'm a trim pro). I started the 1.5g on 3-1 and stuck to the schedule, with some difficulty, until I got my dbv 3 days ago. I weighed out 1.5 this morning, loaded small bowls (about .075g) and am impressed at the level of medication I can maintain with the dbv for the decreased consumption level I am at.

3) Vaping spares my lungs. For the last several or more years I have been experiencing increasing levels of phlegm expectoration. For the last 6 months or so I have been awakened several times each night, coughing up phlegm, as well as often (20-30 times) during the day when awake. 3 days of vaping has decreased this by about 75%. Waking up in the morning because you've had a good night sleep instead of having to cough up phlegm is really nice. I am very happy with this rapid improvement. I didn't expect to notice the difference this fast.

The only things that I have found so far that I don't like about the dbv are:

1) It takes a bowl or so to get the temp right as it's hard to eyeball the same spot on the temp dial. I may get over this with time, but simply having lines around the control knob so that you could easily set the temp dial to the same spot each time would have been nice as I have found on my machine, that there is a very fine line between perfect temperature and too hot. Other dbv's may not have this issue. I can only speak for mine. I may end up having to draw my own line if I can't eyeball it properly.

2) Even though I get more bang for the buck with the dbv than busting, I believe the efficiency for one person use would be increased with a smaller bowl/decreased air flow diameter. The amount I have to load so that the herb stays against the screen and vapes properly is greater than 1 hit, which I would prefer. I wish they would would offer a ground glass whip connector with a smaller bowl/more constricted airflow for even greater efficiency.

3) The stir/tamp implement should be slightly concave on the end instead of convex as I notice from the color of the weed after the first vape hit that the air flow is greater in the center of the bowl, hence the bowl would be be best packed thicker in the center, instead of the sides, which happens with the spherical packer.

Despite these cons, the pros clearly and decisively prevail. I love my Da Buddha.

Welcome to the Da Buddha club!

I had an experience quite similar to yours not long ago when I first started vaping and was using an Underdog log vape and my red (yep, red!) DBV.

Your 75% reduction on phlegm will probably hit 100% before long, if your experience remains similar to mine.

I agree that the DBV efficiency is a world apart from smoking, but should you try other vapes, particularly log vapes, you will probably find an even greater efficiency. As is often stated here, there is no one perfect vape... only perfect vapes for certain times of certain need. You'll buy another before too long... and love it! I would recommend an Underdog if you don't want to end up on a waiting list...

As far as eyeballing the temp... I know some people put actual marks on their vape. I just know that 1 pm is for late afternoon, 2 pm for mid evening, and 3 pm for late evening. But each unit is different!

Out to lunch
Always nice to see another converted smoker. Welcome to the world of vapor.

I have found on my machine, that there is a very fine line between perfect temperature and too hot.
The best way to avoid getting too hot too quick is to start every bowl at a lower temp and move the dial up in steps. By the time you get near the "too hot" setting, you'll have already gotten some good hits at lower temps.

hence the bowl would be be best packed thicker in the center, instead of the sides
It's hard to avoid a bowl stir or two with any 7th Floor model.
