I don't think the blue idle light ever goes out, but i'm not sure why that would bother you? It's off as far as i'm concerned.

Interesting observations regarding PA vs battery. I did note my warm up times in the post earlier, but that was with the PA I think, i'm gonna try it with the battery now and compare. Back in a flash.

No the blue light stays on as long as the PA is plugged in.

I think in reality the heat up times and temperatures will be the same, but in use it often feels like the PA is faster/more powerful. It's probably just the power of suggestion

I think so King, I haven't noticed a difference between the two. I think previous sessions and residual heat are stronger indicators. In fact, I just checked on my Solo....and it was timed out and on temp 1. There was definitely some heat, so I unplugged it, and turn it on without the PA. Typically it goes straight into Idle mode (blue light), but this time temp 1 lit up just like it was on the PA. So it's just measuring the temp at 50c. I also one time unplugged the PA quickly from the Solo while it was on 5, and for some reason the Solo never shut right off but continued seamlessly using the battery! I've had that sometimes in the past, but it would turn off after a few seconds, but this time stayed on.

So I tested the heat up times using the battery, and can't make a fair comparison until my Solo is cold. Basically, the battery blew away the power adapter, but that's because it was warm and already started on temp 1. Instead of 60 secs flat to temp 4. It was 60 secs flat to temp 7! I'll try next with it cold, but like you say King in reality it will more than likely be identical to the PA.

I love how fast the heat up time is with the Solo!

Hi there. I'm new here and I enjoy all the info that I've found on this site. I'm so enthused to start vaping again after abandoning my herbal Aire due to it's teflon material. So anyway I finally ordered a solo and was pumped when it got here, but even after cycling it 5 times on 7, and swabbing out with iso that beach ball / inflatable mattress chemical taste/smell is still very much there. My buddy has one and i never noticed any strange taste but is this due to his already having had plenty of herb sessions and the chemical taste is covered up? I'm sorta chemically sensitive and prefer organic/Veganic herbs and don't want to comprimise my health which was a big part of deciding on a vape in the first place.
Should I send the unit back? Did I get a bad unit? or am I just more sensitive to chemicals and should wait for the ascent with it's all glass path ? The cera? Pax?

Before taking your Solo in use, it is generally advised to let it do 2x a full session of 12 mins. to clean out all of the chemical smells.
But mine had to do several more times before I got rid of the smell.

My experience is pretty much the same.
Works great.

Definitely do more than 2 burn ins, but let your nose be your guide, and then your tongue by vaping dry runs of clean empty stems. I also suggest a damp iso q tip when the bowl is cold. Mine is now ready for prime time!

^^Nope...Puffitup, vapornation, ebay...lots of other options.

I think most members would suggest puffitup...i have no opinion on where is best.

Torontovaporizer needs to get their facts straight...from their website:

The power adapter is great for two reasons. First of all, it allows you to bypass your battery. This enables you to vaporize and charge the unit at the same time

I am going to test later but I know I never get my stem filled in time with the PA and am always done before heating to 3 with the battery. It is usually on 1 when I am done filling the stem. I will test later and get back to all of you.

I don't know why the blue light bothers me either but at this point with all the little lights on the some of my chargers I think it is Christmas. I really think it is because I have to keep it lying down and the blue light is my excuse to unplug it. I hate having it lying down cause I need the space it takes up. If I leave a stem in it takes up that much more room PITA.

Vape4life...are you vaping or just playing cause you will be useless by later

I'm just playing Dreamerr lol I've changed my usage patterns after a 3 week break, not much wake n' vaping anymore (like ever really)... I like being sober just as much as vaped. I now find great satisfaction in moderation.

I'm not sure what you mean in your first sentence. Why not load your stem BEFORE you turn on the Solo? PA or battery.

Sometimes I do but last few days I just didn't and that is how I noticed. The reason why I think is because I am playing with the HES and the HES turbo and a big different to load for me not sure why. It does suck up just not as well.

I think it just depends on how far the herb is and how tight I have made my ring. If I know my ring is tight no reason to try to shove it in cold cause I can't. I have been unable to put in any stems in the last few days cold. So maybe that is the reason. I think I am waking up so when I vape I will be able to think correctly. No solo all I won't stop though hehe.

OK disagree with me, I can't force you to be right
I am having a huge wire issue. I don't have enough space on my power strip for all these wires and can't bend to take them in and out. I tried two strips but it is such a mess. I need to figure out some cleaner way to do this. I do have some of the longer wires, not the plug part, hanging on my floor to ceiling bar to help me transfer. Some of these wires are soooooooo short though so that doesn't work. The solo has the shortest wire I have ever seen. At least the pass through adapter is long but the plug in side is short as well and once you get to the big box we all know that part is heavy so it can't be dangled in the air easily.

D-Don't know how many outlets you need, but I've got one of these that has 12 outlets that are easily accessible, surge protection, and stands on end for even easier access: http://www.amazon.com/Cyberpower-CP...qid=1361574889&sr=8-9&keywords=12+power+strip

It really isn't the amount...but I believe it is like 8-10. The issue is most power strips you can't use all the outlets. The way these plug in things are made it blocks two for the most part.

Also I can hook more then one up but the mess is bothering me. All different cord lengths so I can't bundle them and still reach the end I need. I thought I had a solution till I needed to plug in two more things but the short cords make it harder. If they were longer I could put the power strip deep under my bed and hang the wire ends which would be perfect but the short ones are always a thorn in my side. I may have to separate the shot ones from the long ones but that is not what I want. I want all vape things on one then clock phone ect on other. If I could use one that would be best. I am not sure why some make plugs so short and solo being the worse offender.

THANK YOU so much for posting your trials on here because I'm just like you (but possibly worse) I am a COMPLETE perfectionist, I'm really concerned about health and safety to the highest most intricate extents.

A couple of questions I always wanted to know before buying a Solo was how safe the air path was and if it has any potential for contamination from foul odors or whatever you may be inhaling that you don't want to be... I took one apart and noticed the circuit board under the heating unit and the wired, and I wanted to make sure that that never was able to get hot enough to cause you to inhale any vapors from that... and ALSO the bowl and it's casing/holster, I absolutely NEEDED to know that the SS did not emit a permanent smell (because a sent is actually particles from the element that you're being exposed to after all) because I really want the safest possible vapor!! If I could have it my way it would be 100% isolated in glass pathways and everything, but maybe after I get my electrical engineering degree I'll start my own vaporizer company, who knows! >:p

But thank you for your posts, now I know for sure just about everything I really need to know about the Solo and I may perhaps be purchasing the new Solo in the near future :D

Just to be accurate, one thing is the safety of the materials and the other is the smell those materials might give off.

I taste the metals in my vaporizers. I notice the difference between my gn0me with and without the ss screen (the gn0me is a flame vaporizer that is made by just two small glass tubes that lock together. ), so there is some scent lingering no matter what you do.

The only ones i know of that don't do this, are hard ceramics (like the TET Cera body), and glass. I there are some very high grade plastics but i don't know which.. i think the miniVAP is one who has, and the HA also has it.

So, i believe the Solo's airpath to be safe, but i don't agree that is scentless, at least that is my experience and it is replicated by many here.
If you want no scent, you have to use vaporizers that have air and vapor paths isolated from every other material.

Ok people I guess I am in lala land. The power adapter heats up the same time. To prove I am in lala land I was just watching idol from last night and had no idea that the guy was singing in Spanish part of the song. Always remember what it says under my avatar...state of confusion and silliness...true not a joke in so many ways.

Red that is nice.
