Trapped in the Astral Planes Back from the dead
@underdog - i look forward to hearing your response to the battery duration ,)
On the first full charge (out of the box with +/- 9hrs. on charger) I did not engage the heater until it was fully charged. Tempted as I was to do so, I was able to resist. Did 1 burn in at 405 F. Nothing burned off that I could see. I was able to get 5 more ten minute sessions.:ko: There was 1 or 2 bars left on the battery indicator I can't remember . Didn't want it to get too low for the first cycle so it is recharging now. But, I look for the battery life to improve slightly after the batteries are cycled some more.
Mail Just came with replacement DaVinci. They sent me a New unit in the Box plus a snorkle.
Great Service !
That's awesome!! I had no doubt that they would take care of you:tup:. I agree there service is among the best in the business. I have been very happy with there products. Also with the team in the few direct (voice) dealings I've had they have always been nice. It makes me happy to deal with honest real people.:peace:&

ive been waiting for the Ascent to come out, but am thinking of going ahead and buying a portable to hold me over for the wait. Was considering the updated Da Vinci or Pax. what would you recommend? i would prefer it to smell the least and have a decent battery life. i am also above 7000 feet. Should i just wait for the ascent??

Depends on your money situation. Can you afford one now and one later? After my experience with the Davinci I can say that you won't be disappointed with the purchase. It will hold you over until the Ascent is tested by FC the community and bugs are worked out (if there are any). The Pax seems a bit finicky with the temp light issues and sticky buttons. Just my opinion though as some really like the Pax.

Been using the new DaVinci a bit and think it warrents a true V2 title. BesidesThe greatly improved Lid
so far whats impressed me most is the power, not talkin' Batt. life But when it gets up to your selected
temp. it stays there, rip on it as hard as you like it only drops 1-2 degees so most sessions were abit
shorter then others i've used. Also able to get AVB dark dark brown beutifully uniformed colour not just
high end bud but mids that before were blonde to lightbrown in older DVs .

So far haven't run the Battery below Two bars with about 55 min. use with temps from 355- 395 did two 10 minute sessions at 375 then the following 4 session played with the temp. each session was
also started with a room temp DV. But that just my first impression , I've been totally vaked since fri.
night just using My new DaVinci V2, Like 1 gr8 UnderDog I don't feel like running the battery all the way
down yet jst too know how long the battery will last just yet as possible neg effects from not cyclling the batterys for awhile......ohya atho' fire'ed DV up roomtemp used it outside where it was 37- 52F

THIS IS THE DaVinci I WANTED IT TO BE , at least so far I can say they really GOT IT RIGHT.

OMG if they put this much or more time into the Assent , watch out vappin' world.

Hi

I got a Da Vinci a couple weeks ago, and up until now I've been absolutely loving it. Because lets be honest, it works amazingly. Insofar as how it functions it's the best vape out there; the digital control is awesome. But the rose tinted glasses are coming off now and I'm getting worried about that off-gassing. It doesn't smell that bad, I know some people have said the vape can smell REALLY bad, but this isn't that bad. But it does certainly have a rubbery kind of smell. That'd be ok if it wasn't for the constant stream of white vapour/smoke coming off the unit constantly (above 175°C). What is that? I thought I had read that it was mica dust and that was ok, but looking at an msds of mica dust quickly tells you that's can lead to lung scarring. Now I'm looking back in the thread and seeing pictures of plastic wires touching the heater (?).
I'm in the UK, and bought on ebay from a place with a 7 day policy. I can't phone the number as it'll cost me through the roof. I'm not sure what to do :\

Has anyone who has used a Da Vinci with this effect felt any bad health effects? Cuz I dunno but maybe my lungs felt tight and harsh and in pain a little after using it a fair bit over the weekend. I've got a da buddha so I know it's not just the vapor doing it. That makes my lungs feels alright.

tl;dr My Da Vinci offgasses, even after quite a lot of use. The offgassing doesn't smell horrid, but how do I know what it could be?

if i was to buy one at a head shop ...do u still get a warranty from the company??
I would say yes, but it never hurts to ask.

Also, Censored... I could be wrong but as far as I know not one person in this thread has connected the DV to health problems. My memory may be fuzzy but I dont even think I saw anyone make that implication either.
Some have stated their concern about the off gassing issue because well, no one was certain wtf it was. But as far as I'm aware no health issues related to the DV have been brought up in this thread.

Thanks underdog, that did help. I used the link you provided and received a prompt email response from Jessica. I’ll be sending my DV to Las Vegas for analysis to be fixed or replaced.

Thanks again, Sparetyme

Hi all, I just wanted to take a minute and thank the DaVinci Team for honoring their warranty and providing excellent customer service. A big thanks goes out to 1_gr8_underdog for steering me in the right direction. The new model arrived today and as I write, is charging for its formal initiation later this evening! Vap on!

Regards. Sparetyme

Hi ppl,
I just recently recieved my davinci (serial somewhere in the 4xxx's) It's not a new model,
I was wondering if somebody could stick a rough estimate onto how long the rubbery smell
stays.
I haven't tried it yet, only had a few burn ins on max heat untill auto shut off but the stink
remains.
Also my battery indicator is being a bit erratic going from a couple of bars to zero and back.
I'm from Europe so I bought it from an authorized dealer overhere but I'm sure if I send this one back I still
won't get a new model.

I have one of the 1st units produced. Never had a stink period.

rubbery smell
 If your nose is good enough it'll have a rubbery smell when it's not even on.

I'm sure if I send this one back I still won't get a new model.
You will if you return it to DaVinci.

You will if you return it to DaVinci.

The smell when cold is barely noticable but when hot (208°C) it is noticable up to 3 feet away
(my wife asked me what that bad rubber smell was and said it smelled like electrical wire burning or so and
she sat 3 feet away from me)
I do get the feeling that with more test runs the smell starts to dissipate but it is still very much there.
I would return it to davinci but the cost for mailing plus the chance that I have to pay an other
steep amount for customs keeps me from doing that. (just had a nasty 150 $ extra to pay to our customs for my cera) And I want to give it some time before I send it back, my puffit smelled bad too the first few times but that got much better too.
I'm going to try and put some abv in it and do another test burn.

Give it a little time, you're smelling the paint for the most part I think. Mine had the 'new tennis shoes' smell for a while. Time, temperature and air movement will be constantly lowering the levels. Sooner or later it passes the point of objection......followed by the point of detection. Just like the tennis shoes.

with air movement, is it also ok to blow instead of suck into the mouth piece when the davinci is at 208°C?
I rather blow out and not inhale the bad smell, I don't worry for my health (I read the post from davinci concerning this problem) but I just don't like the taste it leaves in my mouth.

By chance did your unit come with the foam form-fitted insert in the box? The stink of the foam was imparting that smell to my unit. If you do have that foam insert, do not store your unit in it and the smell will slowly go away.

Just smelled the inside of the box and I wish it would smell like that haha, it didn't smell at all.
But my davinci doesn't really smell when cold, only when hot.
I so want to use this little beauty but I'm just going to wait untill I burnt off some of the smell.

There are way too many straight lines in there to go leaving lying about.....trust me on this. I'm not gonna but some of these other guys......

Fun idea. Yeah, sure you don't have to breathe it in if you don't want to. Take an airline from a cheap aquarium pump and stick it and the DV in a jar with a hole in the lid for the hose and the whip from the DV. Blow bags while you're at it?

If you don't wanna mess with putting the holes in the jar lid (sealing them with clay?) you can stuff both in a plastic bag, tape the top shut around the two tubes as best you can. There you might need to use some rubber bands on the bag to keep it from becoming a balloon..... Anyway, I wouldn't go nuts with airflow, that would work against you cooling the core you'd think. Throttle the airflow to some reasonable rate and you should be able to let it run itself, right?

Fun idea.

Hey guys,

Still here and present as always. For those of you wondering about the upgraded units and how to tell, the serial numbers start with 1 instead of 0, but from the outside that's about the only way to tell.

Please feel free to PM me with any customer service issues or email Jessica at either shipping@davincivaporizer.com or customerservice@davincivaporizer.com.

If you PM me, please include your email or a phone number or it makes it nearly impossible to reach you.

I have done a few cycles on high temp and one with abv in the chamber and I must say, the smell is fading, I think I'm going to use it soon, serial nr starts with a 1 on mine but the chamber door has the same restriction as what I saw on the pic a few posts ago (comparisson between older and newer unit where the newer unit opened up much more to the back so cleaning was easier)
Any tips on temp setting? I'm going to set it at 334F (167C) and go to 347F (175C) wich would be about the same as setting 5 and 6 on the INH004 (I like and use these two settings the most)

edit. oops, Not sure if my SN starts with a 1 or a 0, it starts 0E1004xxx

I recommend judging your temp setting by the color of your ABV. I usually start at 350 F and hardly ever go above 385 F (often not that high). I don't have much experience with digital controllers on vapes, but I've used a lot of different models over the years, and if I had to guess I'd say that the DV runs hotter than the display indicates. My ABV is very, very dark at 385, and that's been the case on two different units - mine as well as a friend's.

The new DV has a magnetic lid on the herb chamber, thats one way to tell if its the 2013 DV or not !
My unit Does run pretty hot . At 350 F ABV is the colour of dark roast coffee. So far the battery life seems to be about the same or even a little less then my older unit around 45- 55 minutes on a charge.
I am happy with it so far, there was an odd taste[like hot electronics not plastic] for a bowl or two but
now I only tastes the herb. I only did one burn in to check for off gassing, didn't see any so I stuffed a chamber and vaped . Use it you'll like it.
