Underdog Log Vapes

I let myself be inspired and ordered the spalted Black & White Ebony log and also went ahead and got a kush scientific type 4 puckline with bent neck to go with.

However, I was wondering how I should go at interfacing it? Wong adapter? Underdogette wasn't sure either so I'd rather ask my fellow FC brothers.
Type 4 is my favorite puck type :)

All you'd need is an 18mm WonG

THANK YOU. You are the only person who didn't give me some kind of shit about being impatient.

Most people on the forums are laid back folks ;) Don't worry about the occasional trollish responses. It's now a common thing on a every forums. The mods are pretty strict on enforcing civility here, so this helps.

If you do get a dog let us know which and how it vapes!

My vapor bros mini hydrator arrived in the mail today. I didnt waste time putting it through its paces.i just adjusted the water levels so its stacking more. Its a great fit with my UD...As much as I enjoy hitting the dog straight, I havent coughed once today yet using the bubbler. Now thats refreshing :p... I cant wait till my wong comes in the mail. That will eliminate the clinking and stress on my bubbler from pulling the slide out. .that makes me nervous..:uhoh: just a little longer..

Hello, long time lurker first time poster here.

I own a mflb, and was thinking that an Underdog would be the perfect home vape companion to what I already have. I just have a couple questions (they are probably already answered, but this thread is LONG and I could only read about 20 pages in xD).

1) What is the heat up time for a twig unit? I medicate 2-3 times a week (usually when I hit a bad spell with my depression) so leaving the unit on 24/7 is not ideal or really necessary.

2) How hot does the unit itself get? Would my rather sensitive lady friend have trouble handling it?

3) Would using the unit 2-3 times a week have an adverse affect on the reliability of it? It would not be damaging would it? I would hope that the Underdog would last me well into the future. =)

Thank you so much for the help! This forum really is quite the collection of knowledge and I would like to let everyone here know that I greatly appreciate them sharing there experiences. It has really helped with me learning about almost every facet of vaporization, and I'm sure that I'm not the only one who hasn't vocalized their thanks (until now).

1. I believe most will heat up to produce vapor ~10 min, but it's more like 30 to get to full temp. That might have dropped a bit with the newer cores though.

2. (assuming you mean the exterior of the unit) It gets warm enough to use as a hand warmer around the body, the top especially the curve around the top of the heater gets pretty warm but I've never handled the vape and had it be uncomfortable to hold normally.

3. I doubt it. It is really handy to have plugged in all the time, but I don't recall anyone saying they've had issues with plugging it in as needed.

Can we leave log vapes on 24/7? Or turn it on in the morning, off at night before going to bed?

1) It's going to depend a bit on the exact size of the Twig in question, what power supply you're using and the wood type as well. That all being said, many of the Twigs will heat up in <10 minutes to begin use (some users report < 5 minutes) and certainly within 20-30 minutes.

2) Again this depends on the size, power supply and wood type but I like to equate a Twig running at full temp to be akin to holding a cup of coffee or tea (that's not scalding lol). Very warm to the touch, enough that some people will roll it around in their grip and so it doesn't sit in any one spot too long (the hot potato motion if you will). Hot enough to be uncomfortable for some if you hold it at the hottest part (usually the upper-middle) but not injurious.

3) No, using it 2-3 times a week wouldn't have an adverse affect, in fact with the newer generation cores I think that would actually extend the lifespan. If for some reason you did run into a problem down the road you could always send it in for a little visit with me, the vet.

24/7 is fine. I recently started to use an outlet timer so that it kicks on 30 minutes before I get home from work and shuts off around bedtime. On the weekends, I flip the switch so that it just stays on. Saves electricity and run time of the unit that should make it last even longer.

Way cool! I'm getting dangerously close to getting that Bocote lost dog. I want it bad. Haha
Don't wait too long. Dogs are flying off the shelf! I got mine 4 months ago and couldn't be happier. The UD is easy to use, beautiful to look at, and cuts down your consumption. On top of all that, you get incredible customer service and FAST shipping.

My 14 mm wong just arrived and I must say that its providing a much more airtight seal than the mflb glass I was using:tup: . I also tried using a simple glass stem with silicone on both ends..that worked too..But it wiggled too much and I couldnt skim milk it...Now Im getting noticeably darker abv..before that I was getting a yellowish tan..yup Its working:)
My package came in the mail with a big tear in it..that made me laugh..But everything was there. All in all I couldnt be happier with my purchase..Im finally accessorizing My dog... Next up a cool vvps

I have had my Dog for about 2 months now and it is the best vaporizer I have used, surpassing the Arizer Extreme and even the Vapexhale Cloud among other lesser vaporizers. In addition to a solid product, the customer service has been top notch. When I first received the unit, it was running rather hot and charring bowls so I contacted Dave and he immediately sent one of the new switch mode power supplies that supposedly runs at a lower voltage and lo-and-behold my problem was fixed (although it still seems to run slightly hotter than average, and I have to cut the silicone tubing a little longer to compensate). I went to order some accessories a month later and the post office seemingly lost them, so they sent another shipment and all was well. I really enjoy the personalized touch, and have enjoyed my correspondence with both Dave and Amanda.

The only con I can even think of is that I wish the silicone could have been replaced by glass or something because it needs to be replaced occasionally, and bud tends to stick to it. Also maybe a temperature dial built-in, but that is more of a design choice due to the external power supply.

I chose the Underdog to replace the Cloud after being unimpressed by its performance and experiencing poor customer service from Vapexhale. Devices like the Extreme and Cloud are quite easy to use, but the Underdog still has them beat by running at an ideal temperature… you just plug it in, pack a bowl, and go for it. As you hit the bowl, despite the constant thermal output from the Dog, it will slowly increase in temperature and give different types of cannabinoids as the buds transition from green to brown just as you would expect by increasing the temperature on other vaporizers. I attribute this property to the highly restricted airflow. The restricted airflow also seems to make for a very smooth (not harsh), potent, and tasty vapor experience. The taste is exactly what I expected to get out of the Cloud but never did, and the potency of hits is substantial especially using concentrates. I found that, like the Cloud, stirring is unnecessary but if you do it then performance will improve on the last few hits of a bowl.

I really enjoy the versatility of the Underdog also, in that I am able to use it with various glass pieces using the excellent wood-on-glass attachment. I was disappointed with the fragility of the Cloud, and I am simply in love with the indestructability of the Underdog combined with the wood-on-glass bowl which is very unlikely to break. Another form of versatility is the wide range of concentrates that can be used with the bowl pieces – with previous vaporizers I had difficulty either with packing concentrates, having them make a giant mess, or having them go to waste due to poor airflow. Packing concentrates is extremely easy using the “sandwich method” and the airflow is great as long as you don’t pack the bowl too densely. Cleanup couldn’t be easier – usually I can reuse a wax bowl once just by cleaning it out with the included pokey tools, and then after the second use I just pop the screen out and put a new one in and it’s good to go again. I just slowly collect the dirty screens and then wash them all at once. The Underdog is pleasant to hold, like a gentle hand warmer although it gets pretty toasty at the very top; this is in stark contrast to the Cloud which reached scalding temperatures and required insulation to hold. Finally, I enjoy being able to leave the device on 24/7 if I want to because it is very convenient to just have it ready to go instead of waiting 5-10 minutes for a vaporizer to heat up. Overall, I am highly impressed by the Underdog and there is very little room for improvement. 9/10.

Like Crohnie said, you should definitely grab that Lost Dog ASAP if you're leaning towards getting a UD. nice Lost Dogs like that don't stick around for too long.

I was very much like you, starting out with only the MFLB and wanting a harder hitting desktop home vape. there's no learning curve, unlike the MFLB, and still provides big tasty hits while using small amounts of material. I still remember the day i first got my UD after having only the MFLB for a year; my first hit out of it was huge and got me VAKED for 2-3 hours. the MFLB and UD compliment each other well and i don't think you'll be displeased whatsoever when it comes to a UD vape whether it's in regards to performance, durability, customer service, etc. Dave and Amanda over at the Dog Pound will take care of you!

HEYYEYAAEYAAAEYAEYAA!
First post.
New dog owner here too! I decided to drop-in to say hello... Hello. Is it me you're looking for? :disgust:

I wanted to acknowledge FC and all the active members for contributing their own personal insight that add to this well of knowledge. A few months ago I decided to make a permanent move away from combustion (health concerns) and I found FC to be the best resource to educate myself (I’m pretty green to the vaping culture). I gained a lot of insight from the experience of others’, and for that thank you FC and the members here who make this community great.

While there are other quality log vapes represented here on FC, I ultimately selected an Underdog to adopt, a figured myrtle burl pup. Dave and Amanda are such a great team, and they really make the adoption process a real pleasure. I want to thank Dave for the amazing pup, she's special to me already. I wanted to especially thank Amanda for taking the time to explain the different characteristics/performance differences of the woods I fancied. It’s great to talk to people who are very passionate about what they create, and their pups really speak for themselves (as many of you here know, I’m sure).

I’ve only had my pup for a few days now, so I’m still getting to know her. She’s still running off the wall wart and tends to run warm – but to me this is beneficial as I run it through my bubbler and I’m able to draw thick clouds with ease. I had to MacGyver a GonG converter out of a hair band while I wait for my WonG to come in the mail but the performance and efficiency is stellar! I now know with great certainty that I will never go back to combusting again. Also, I wanted to mention, and I hope I don’t get in too much trouble for saying this, but I use my pup a lot as an aromatic maybe almost as much as it’s other intended uses .

TL;DR – I got myself a myrtle burl pup, and i wuv her... So how bout a pic?
