My SOLO just came in mail, i cannot wait to fire it up. You guys suggest let it go through two 12 min cycles at lvl 7, then charge to full before the 1st use?

Welcome to Solo land! :)
Mine still smelled even after 2x 12 mins on 7.
To gain more insight about the Solo battery you could try this, that is to say if you are good at reading source material. The document has clickable links inside that get you deeper into the subject.

Thanks Obi. Ideally I want to fit a solo, 4 stems, charger, large 4 piece SCS grinder, and a hydratube and a GonG adapter. I am wondering if the 1200 is even big enough. Has anyone put stems on top of another in one slot? I am wondering if that is safe.

Should I have the stem in or out; lid on or off while burning off the smell. Also will I know when its gone or will i have to really smell for it. I ain't tryna die :(

simply plug it in, and let it charge. Then once your light is solid green, it's ready. Turn it on, and set it to 7 and let that heat, you can uncap the heat core, so it can vent while you do your first burn off. Let it run until it times out. Don't bother putting stems in. You can take this time to prepare your load. Once it times out, turn it back on again, and smell the top. If you feel it's not putting off any kind of odor, you have completed the break in. If you still feel it has a smell, let it run again.

once it's satisfactory on the burn off, carefully insert your stem, and set it to the desired setting. You can start low around 4 and work your way up as you use up the load, until you get used to what you like.

Red if you didn't order the power adapter yet get some stems when you do order. I just ordered one bent, one PVHES regular and one PVHES turbo. My order is coming like sat or Monday. I ordered about a month ago but wanted to wait for all items to be in stock. A lot of little stuff that added up to a lot hehe. I don't even know if I will like the hes stems as I do like the regular ones but then I can't comment when all want to compare them. I do have a Ed's wood stem as well.

Clicker, where did you get the washer that sounds like a better idea. I don't really have issues since I do press my ring down when my solo is hot maybe once a week. My stems are tight and don't fall out because of it. I don't want to do the o-ring idea because I feel it would be really hard to get the stem in and out. I don't take it out in between hits so that isn't an issue.

well i cut down some thick tubing i had already. making my own washer, but im sure a flat washer with the same ID as the #11 plumbing orings would be ideal. i will look for them in the red hi temp silicone and will post a link.

i dont remove the stem between hits, but if i stop a session i will take it out until im ready to go again. with the flat washer style setup its not hard to get it in or out, but it is held in there very well. really loving this mod. what a difference.

ill post that link soon. gotta load another stem and try to get some work done :bang:

I leave the stem in even if it is done unless I feel like emptying it. I am a bad girl. I will try the washer as it appeals to me way better then a thick o-ring that will make things to tight. I am surprised you aren't getting a lot of resistance removing it and having issues.

I am glad I don't drop my solo. I drop my INH daily and on hard metal at that cause it drops right on my floor to ceiling bar base plate that I use to move. I really need to put padding on it and will do it soon. I moved the INH back today on my dresser and still managed to do it. I just falls easily I guess.

Did get the power adapter some time ago, those special HES stems aren't offered on any Dutch site.
A better option for me, I guess is getting a wooden one as it will be more durable.
Wondering if they are tight fit in the Solo.
The bog oak ones look awesome and I think specially in a black Solo, but they have been out of stock for quite a while now so maybe I have to opt for the black wood one.
Those Solo users seem very active as any Solo stems seem to be sold out just anywhere I look!!! LOL

After my 1st night with the SOLO i must say i am pleased. I used it on lvl 4 and it worked great. One thing i was wondering do you guys put screens in your stems? or do you not grind your material that much. The reason i asked is i had some finely ground material and it was coming up through the stem a little bit.

We do use a screen inside to prevent just that from happening.
The most handy one is the domed stainless steel, now there aren't any domed screens that specially will fit your Solo stems available commercially, so you have to make one.
Many posts in the thread on the subject so have a look around and get yourself inspired!

The screen serves other purposes too.
It provides a small lift from the glass surface, that is between the 4 holes... letting the herb not lay against the glass directly.
The heat also is conducted not only through glass, but the heat going through your load hits screen too, dispersing the heat from under the load at the same time.
The screen is not needed but is a very good thing... my ABV is always more even too.

Just so you know, Ed just put a few wood stems up in his shop, and they are going fast, no bog oak this time, but there were some black wood (if there are any left) they are moving fast so if you want one from the current batch, now is the time to place your order! Otherwise, I don't know what the wait time is on the next run.

I'm very OCD....one or two dry 12 min runs isn't enough to burn off IMO. What I personally do (which is overkill for most of you because i'm alot more cognizant and paranoid about my health) is do the dry runs on 7 over and over until I absolutely cannot smell or TASTE anything. So I actually put the clean stem in the Solo with nothing in it, and draw on it.... i'm very sensitive with smell and taste, and can CLEARLY taste that metal like taste (just like the smell) for ALOT of cycles. Once I can't taste it anymore, it's good to go. Should have my new Solo from PIU this week! :)

I don't care about my health but I did the same thing. No need to make it worse on purpose.

Red...again I don't understand customs or vat or whatever else this money making thing is but PIU ships to you and so does PV. I am not sure PV sells Ed's stems. I know some other places do as well and ship internationally either free or cheaply. I bet you can do it without much extra cost. Give PIU a call or fly him an email. PIU has Ed's stems. I don't know if you have to pay customs if it comes from other places in Europe other then the Netherlands but maybe you can hook up someone bringing you stuff when they come. I am sure people take trips there.

On Ed's stem you would not use an o-ring or washer as it is very tight and does scratch your ss and existing ring. It is a different flavor which a lot like and so do I. I just have to adjust my ring afterwards as it does stretch it a lot.

i would but i was in a hurry and my craftsmanship was out the window. besides its only temporary until i get some of these:

Part # 99604A125 Sealing Washers

looks like only packs of 25... group buy anyone? ill do all the shipping.

*EDIT* also check out these "quad" orings... ill bet they would work well. not in silicone, but they do have them in Viton Fluoroelastomer in black. kinda pricey tho.

I never used screens the first 6 months with my Solo , and then I put one in (had them all the time) then I tried it, could not believe how much better draws with a screen, my buddies said the same thing, stem stays cleaner also, bought 100 -5/8" off ebay, won't vape now without one. I don't trim the 5/8 screens i just use a pencil and push them in, they don't move and replace every week or so.

Not sure what's best, I ordered the 5/8" cause I wasn't sure if I'd form a dome on them like the ones that came with it, the 1/2" are what I see everyone buying although some trim to size prior to putting in. I don't bother trimming just push in.
