Leviathan Pipes (inexpensive American Glass)

They are. Its an optical illusion.

It looks like they took a barrel perc with vertical cuts, then cork-screwed/wrapped a strand of glass around it. It took me, literally like an hour to notice it, because I thought it was crooked to.

It caught my eye and I started spinning the tube, following one piece of glass wrapped around from the bottom to the top. It ends creating, damn I don't know.... But a LOT of points of diffusion.

I would like to see how one with 2 tone color looks. The barrel portion one color and the strand another. It would look kind of like a barber shop pole!

I want Lakers Purple and Gold!

Noserub - thanks for the update. Sounds like a good piece.

Wonder if Lev's managed to complete making my piece yet? He's been pretty quiet all week and I'd hope he can send it out next week!

I know Lev is under a great deal of stress lately. He looked tired and a bit rundown, yesterday (sorry, Lev). I know there's a LOT of pressure right now, with the Facebook, website and launching a new line.

That's just his professional life. Please, I'm not implying ANYTHING, I just know life has a tendency to dump on you all at once, sometimes. Again, not ANYTHING Lev had said... just a personal observation and empathy for a friend, I could tell, was just wiped out.

Is it too late to change my order to a lil mona? Ordered the lattice Wednesday.
Or should I keep with the lattice and one day in the near future add the lil mona to my collection...?
The idea of a learning curve and 'chug' puts me off slightly, but then again I've heard and read so many great things about the lattice. Hmm...

Cancel a Lattice? <gasp>

NEVER!

Seriously, up to you. If it hasn't shipped yet. Personally, I wouldn't. It's a permanent piece in my collection. Only 4 pieces I own, are untouchable. The Lattice is one of them.

BDV if you had to choose between lattice and mona which would it be? I'm planning on buying something in the next couple weeks @around $300 I've got it down to 5 or so pieces with these being 2. This will be my first ”expensive” purchase (I realize this is fairly low priced in the world of glass out there but I've had lots of bad quality cheap stuff) and I want to get it right. Though it seems from my reading here sooner or later GAS will kick in and ill somehow end up with all 5 pieces + whatever else catches my eye along the way!!

What a guy!
^Good question! Compare the 2 how are they similar and different? And speaking of the wrapped strand inside the perc. How about a wrapped strand of slyme? Maybe a slyme mouthpiece and base? If you can do that I'd be so in.

The lattice perc doesn't chug in my experience. Holding it in your hand, it feels like it is, because you're feeling the bubbles chug out of the huge stem and hit the lattice, but you don't feel the chug in your draw because the lattice breaks it up. Vapor exiting the lattice is smooth and even...it does not chug.

Think of like...pouring a gallon of water through a funnel or strainer. The water coming out of the gallon jug is all sloshing and uneven coming out fast, then slow, but at the bottom of the strainer/funnel, the stream of water is nice and smooth, even.

Yeah, its so difficult to use "chug" on this piece. When I think of chug, I think of this big ass beaker I use to have with a standard horizontal slit, open end downstems. That whole thing would rumble in your hands. Or, some of the poorly designed natural percs. OMG... a poorly made tree!

That's chug, to me. The Lattice doesn't feel anything like that to me. Its like a little motor, or a purring cat. You give it that little push to get it started and it just takes over that hard part, while you play with bubbles.

I'm going to have to take some time on making a call on this one. I thought doing the bubble test, I had it nailed. Big Mona was it! Then I got home to the Lattice. So far, I do not like fresh RezBlock in Big Mona. She shoots/stacks so fast and so easy, it pushes into the splash guard and causes a very unpleasant drag to the pull. I didn't experience that with water. Though, I also know after a session with the RezBlock, it will calm down. I also want a chance to try some different water levels. I'm not so sure, this one is as versatile as the Lattice with that.

While vaping, the initial push past the stemless "restriction" feels a bit stiffer than the Lattice, but I need more variables and certainly need to test the water levels, before I can make that call.

Though, I must say... I did a dab, and HOLY @#$% BALLS! Does dabs better than the Lattice, its >>>WHOOSH>>> and like a vapor assist injection, BAM!.

You guys nailed it. It appears to chug, but you don't notice it in your hit.

And the Lattice was already really good with dabs.

Know everyone was looking forward to video. I've been laid up with a migraine all day, after sleeping in a recliner all night.

I'm gonna hit the sack.

How would I go about ordering this particular piece? This is the M & M tech bubbler from Leviathan.

Oh @$&#. I always thought PM, was slang for pre-menstrual! So when momofthegoons says, "I'll PM you.", its not a threat.

Whew.

Edit: oops, review will be up today. it's going to be long. Ugh

EDIT II: Some measurements.

Big Mona
Height: 17 1/2"
Height of joint: 6 1/4"
Height to top of can/perc chamber: 9"
Base width: 4 1/2", 10mm thick.
Joint: 18mm
Can/Perc tubing: 55mm
MP/upper tube: 30mm
Distance from center of joint/slide to outer wall of tube: 1 1/8"
Approximate width of the perc: 35mm
Width of flare on MP: 45mm

EDIT III: Still more coming in. First, second, third impressions... Loved it. Hated it. Really love it.

It is a HUGE hitter. If you're weak of heart, don't like old muscle cars and just want a kick back piece, move along. Have milked both the HI and MFLB w/ WPW. Gets you totally wrecked. An incredible flavor experience. You can taste the vapor in the back of your throat/sinuses, lingering for several minutes. Pull is hard to explain. Not as wide-open as the Lattice. Certainly, not "drag". If you don't have good airflow with your vape... Just keep looking. Big Mona isn't your answer.

Thanks for the very quick reply. Very sorry to hear that he's having a few issues. I really hope he's okay or can get things sorted in good time.

Its just that, to me (maybe not others), almost half a grand is an awful lot - its 3 times the price I would pay in the past, given to a complete stranger online whom I'm entrusting with said money to make some glass. Oh, and then there's the high probability of extra costs on top due to UK Customs Importation fees - probably an extra $100.
He said on Feb 2nd that he'd keep me updated during production, and yet I'm not to know whether its even been started yet?

If it takes this next week for it to be made, it won't be shipped until Mon 18th earliest I'd guess, almost 3 weeks after having placed the order. Initially, I was told it would be "hitting my shore" in 3 weeks with the $35 shipping, which I've not used as I've paid the extra for USPS Express.

Real pity.

Think I finally have an acceptable video. Though, I need to go edit it now. I am going to try one MFLB shot, if it doesn't work (I'm working oh a tight production budget, lol. None). I'll do one later. It does milk.

Btw... I am not employed by, associated with, nor speak for M&M Tech, nor Lev. I am a personal friend only. I do not wish to represent, nor can I even enjoy the thought of entering into any such role. For those that don't know, I am 46 years old. Almost 4 years ago, I came closer to dying, than most people you will ever meet, if not all, in some cases. I am terminal. My story is in the medical section and the meet and greet. Stress/anxiety, are my two worst enemies on the planet. I do not have the slightest inclination to add either to my life. :D

I do "rep" Lev's stuff, because first and foremost, I like the stuff. Second, our friendship developed over a fucked up period in both our lives. Mutual support. Mutual respect. Finally, I have seen the character of the man and know his heart, to be good. Does he have flaws? Yes. W all do.

I can't help with issues, really related too much towards business. I can text/call him, but I'm sorry. I don't want to be that pain in the ass, TYVM.

This is not directed towards anyone in particular. This was not motivated by any one post, nor private message. Its not directed at a large number of people, nor complaints. Its just the requests made to me, personally, are starting to get into an area, that isn't any of my business and I'm not his babysitter. ;)

This is the nature of the glass world. Hurry up and wait. I'm used to it. I'm former military.

Patience is one thing. Service is another. I'm also ex-British Army, having served in the Kings regiment for over 12 years, so I know all about formalities and "hurry up and wait".

But, I've received a private message from another member on these forums, who said that after a month of placing an order, he still hadn't received, asking over a period of days for details about his package (track number etc)... Eventually the order was cancelled due to him taking so long, 1 month after placing it.

If that's your idea of good service, I'm sorry, you're totally deluded.

How do you mean, "Most in this thread should"? He's made 9 posts in this thread and not a single one seems negative...

Its nice to see a minimum post requirement for having an opinion. You say I'm bordering on ToS, yet in the forum rules it states "Be nice to newbies". If my posts seem problematic, please use the forums built in report feature.

And you think potential customers shouldn't be made aware of potential issues?
There's no point in taking things to PM, as the last message I received was from him, telling me that he'd update me on the process.
I believe I've been professional, I haven't sworn or gotten abusive, and hold on, I believe "The Customer is Always Right" - or is the world I know today so polluted that nobody stands for principles?
