Looking for a vape for bong hits

OP, here is a picture I just took of my Solo+Bubbler. Coca Cola for scale ;)
Oh I like that size. I was having trouble picturing it attaching without seeming bulky. I guess it just depends on the glass you attach it to. Those fit very nicely together.

Thanks for all these options guys. The conversation has been a really interesting read.

Like I said I am a legal medical user and I vaporize every two hours. The bowls of the solo are very small which is ideal for my use and since the solo is battery powered, it makes the whole setup very portable and small. And it creates very smooth vapor.

I too had problems picturing how the whole thing would look, and in my research I had found pictures of monstrous pieces of glass (like some of the pieces made by Mobius, Sovereignty, etc.) which almost scared me.

This is a good size for frequent daily use. You can always upgrade to something bigger later for those lonely Friday nights when it's more about getting cooked than medicating ;)

Obviously it's all about your personal needs and choices. Just make sure you explore all the options and make the best informed decision you can make :)

You should get a log. Small bowls like the Solo but slight better taste and it is always on. You should keep the Solo for the mobility.

Those are my two main vaporizers now.

I'm all new to this too vorrange, I am definitely getting a log real soon! :)

Yes it's the black leaf. Planetvape had provided me with amazing customer service so I felt comfortable buying my first piece of glass from them.

I really love it :)

And I find my log even more efficient than the Solo, something I didn't think possible.

kingofnull,
Really? How efficient? NOW I MUST ORDER IT NOW!!! DAMN YOU!!! :D
Capable of vaping even smaller loads and better at extraction in my experience than the Solo.

The Solo is still one of my favourite vapes and I think it would fit well into almost any vaporists tool chest, I just like my E-Nano better now for waterpipe use.

Is the heat island still available for sale? I only see the toasty top.

Both are available but there is a big waiting list so if you want something now, you should start elsewhere.

The logs are more efficient because they have a smaller bowl volume, in terms of the process itself they are pretty much equivalent IMO. I still think this physical constraints really help maintaining a low dosage.

All great points here. I was going to be purchasing a cloud as my 2nd desktop device, but lets see what happens after this discussion.

I thought the cloud was the end all be all for big hits and amazing taste.
To be honest these are the 2 things i want. I dont want big hits with a slightly degraded taste, i want the best of both worlds.

Portability isnt what Im concerned about, the device could be 80 pounds, I just want an at home ultimate vape.

I myself travel with my Pax so thats my portable no need to add that in the equation.

TASTE & BIG HITS (Name your top 5)

The ultimate vaporizer is a vaporizer with the size of a log, with the perpetuheat system of the cloud and the durability and shock proof of the herbalaire, and an all glass isolated vapor path, and a suspended bowl to prevent conduction. That is what i hope for the future. :D

There are advantages and disadvantages to the Cloud, along with your specific needs and wants that can change according to present situations.

For taste & big hits you have:

- Cloud
- miniVAP

- LSV
- SSV

- logs and Solo

I did not like the hydra tube for two reasons:
-filling the water chamber just right is important because sometimes I had water splash up the tube in my mouth, and bong water is disgusting
-the hydra tube would lock with the bamboo quite often, which is what led to the break

It's inevitable that water will eventually fall in there so the whole system should be designed that if the bamboo does break it can be replaced for cheap by the user. I was not versed in glass speech when I asked for advice like the OP did and went with the Cloud.

With my solo+bubbler there is no risk of lock because water will never touch the gong adapter, and the stem is too long for water to splash all the way to my mouth.

What I WOULD use the Cloud for is to use it as the solo, aka as a piece attached to a bigger bubbler. I certainly don't think that, for that particular task, it is worth the asking price if a log costs half and does the job just as well.

Once VXL has streamlined production and the supply chain is rolling, they can bring down costs. They're actively fixing all the design flaws. My guess is that in a year or two, the product will have been perfected enough to be a serious contender for anyone wishing for a good vape.

Right now, it's a product I could only recommend to the experienced vaporist who has dabbled in glass before and doesn't mind paying the early adopter's price. And I don't think the OP qualifies for this.

I think that's an important point because its definitely marketed as pretty easy to use, pretty hard to mess up, besides treating it well which I would hope people do for anything they spend +$500 on.
Hearing these sort of things has definitely changed my opinion on what I'm going to get.

Right now I'm looking at different logs, leaning towards the E-Nano or HI and just attaching it to this.
Still considering the Solo but I don't know when I would use a portable vaporizor. Unless I was in a situation where I had to vape outside.

They have a video on filling the tube. It should be obvious to 'test hit' as you fill, and stop before it's too full. There is no disgusting "bong water" with vaporizing. Exactly what is it that would make it disgusting?

-the hydra tube would lock with the bamboo quite often, which is what led to the break
The HT never locks to the unit to the point where it's an issue, unless the user is applying too much force.

It's inevitable that water will eventually fall in there so the whole system should be designed that if the bamboo does break it can be replaced for cheap by the user.
It's absolutely NOT inevitable. The vast majority of users never have an issue. You're stating an opinion here as fact, and that's against the rules.

My guess is that in a year or two, the product will have been perfected enough to be a serious contender for anyone wishing for a good vape.
My guess (and a lot more people will agree with my guess than yours) is that it was a contender from day one.

The VXC should definitely be thought of as a connoisseur vape.
While yes its hard to mess up getting a good hit, there's plenty of glass-related know-how that is pretty necessary to own it safely. Specifically familiarity with glass on glass joints.

That is, until the "Cloud College" is released :ninja:
Over the next few months you can expect a wide range of written manuals and video tutorials (Cloud College) to start appearing around the net.

edit: If you watch a newbie who has not used GonG joints before try to put the hydratube on the cloud, and then remove it...it is typical they won't exactly get it. They usually try to twist it instead of rocking. However, give it to someone who is used to GonG joints and it's like tying your shoes.

It is definitely not a noob-friendly product. Not currently, and not by far. My negative experience with the Cloud was both due to a lack of education on my part, and a lack of educating on VXL's part. I have spoken with the CEO of VXL personally and explained to him that they absolutely cannot expect every Cloud customer to read 500 pages of posts to educate themselves on the product. They need to redact a proper manual and include it with every cloud, and make that documentation available on their website. I know for a fact they are working on it right now, so this is good.

My current setup (Solo+Bubbler) was half the price, literally, and is completely dummy-proof. IF anything were to break, it would be the GoNg adapter, which costs 20$ to replace. If the bamboo on the Cloud breaks, VXL charges 150$ (it's not covered under warranty) plus you have to pay shipping to them. That's about 180$ PLUS a five to six weeks downtime. Six weeks is the turnaround time for repairs right now.

For the amount of money involved (in my case, 650$ + 103$ duties I will never see again + 30$ to ship back to VXL I also will never see again) I really don't think noob users like you and I should even touch the Cloud. But it's not marketed as such as you say, it's marketed as being super friendly.

And let me reiterate that I was extremely gentle with my Cloud. Extremely. I was also a 3+ Extreme-Q user, so it's not like I was a total nub.

TLDR version: Cloud is a great idea, execution however is imperfect right now, so I file it as a "pro hobbyist" kind of vape.

OP, are you French by any chance? Chui Québécois.

I personally was going to buy the cloud for the vaporizer only, and get a mobius glass piece to use with it, plus I got my RezBlock, so bad water shouldnt be a problem :)

Now does the log REALLY do the job just as well?
Because if you are looking for the creme de la creme, you want that best, not whats next!

It is inevitable that water will eventually find it ways because it is possible for water to make its way in the bamboo. For regular users it is a matter of statistical probability. Have you ever used the Cloud+Swagger double personally?

Compared to my solo+bubbler setup, it's just impossible for water to touch the gong unless you purposefully exhale in the bubbler to push water up to the gong.

Are you in the US or EU? The E-Nano is only available in US voltage. I would consider an UD due to easier availability, or the WW if you're in the EU.

And that bubbler, i don't think that is the best option, no gong joints for better seals, no diffusion and it looks impratical to use unless on a table and it still looks fragile.

If you want something low budget but quality glass, there are better options.

vorrange,
I'm in the US so the power isn't an issue.
Yeah. I should really learn more about gong joints. My friend had the bubbler and it worked well for him, said it wasn't fragile but he doesn't use it anymore. Just finished talking to him about it and am shying away from it. Just sounds like there are more convenient stuff. Back to the drawing board. Which is good, each of these set ups are getting better.

Check SSFG glass, a simple straight tube will be all you need to start. The Nano and the UD are my advice then, and get in the HI list and start saving for when its ready.

The best vaporizing experience is the Cloud, but it has its cost. A log provides you with a very satisfying experience although inferior to the Cloud but at a much attractive cost.

Both can get you sky high, with great taste and good with water or dry.

Not trying to control you, but there are better options on cheap glass, for example
http://www.pipesdaddy.com/product-p/vp-0022.htm (Its a favorite with a lot of us on FC),
but here is a good thread over Cheap, high-quality glass (if you haven't checked it out) http://fuckcombustion.com/threads/cheap-high-quality-bubbler.5255/

I don't know when you are planning on buying a vape but I wouldn't consider the HI if you aren't okay with waiting MONTHS, primarily because you don't have another vape to tide you over during the long wait.

I understand the solo is portable but in my opinion all these devices do one thing in common and the Solo definitely does it, along with TASTE. (So say the Solo users)
Take being portable as a benefit, isn't their also a power adapter for it? Or did I hallucinate some cool shit?

EDIT:
Darn Vorrange, you must beat me at every post. Need to step up my game.

EDIT 2:
I would also take in customer service, warranties, and reliability in to consideration.
Logs from what I have read and seen from mine (which is NEVER off) are pretty reliable and easily fixed.
