Help with first vaporizer...

Hey guys, hopefully a similar post hasn't been answered recently that I've missed (well, I'm sure people ask this question all the time). So I've recently really wanted to get into vaping because, as it stands, I can't really enjoy herb. I'll cough until I nearly vomit if I smoke via any method (joint/water bong/pipe/etc) because my lungs are pretty shit. So what would be a good vaporizer? I've checked some out but there are a ridiculous amount of them, and a recommendation from people that know a lot about them would be awesome. I guess what I'm going for is:
-Price isn't too big of a deal, but I don't really want to spend a volcano-amount
-Efficient with herb?
-Soft on the lungs (maybe via less dry vapor?)

Thanks in advance!

There are several other factors that you need to take into consideration.

1. Do you use alone?
2. Desktop or portable?
3. Do you plan to use with glass?

Once you've gotten some suggestions here, take a look at the threads on the individual units and see which one appeals to you the most.

And congratulations on the best decision you've made in a long time. :D Also, welcome to the forum.

I'm about 50/50 on alone/with others, and a desktop unit would be preferable I think. I'm not really sure what the last point means (regarding glass) as I really haven't smoked that many times 'cause it makes me want to vomit my entrails out (though I like the high itself). Thanks for the welcome!

By glass she means a water tool like a bong or bubbler. These cool the vapour and make it smoother, which might be desirable for your condition.

Thank you for clarifying that for me paka. ;)

You say a desktop would be preferable to you so I would say the next step would be to decide which of the following appeal to you:
1. Direct draw (through a glass/wood/nylon stem)
2. Whip draw
3. Bag draw
4. choice of bay or whip draw.

The Silver Surfer is very highly reviewed on here, if the price is too high for you there's also da buddha which is kind of like the bargain version of the SSV (they're made by the same company). They both only work with a whip configuration though so if you wanted a bag vape as well as a whip (bags are better in large groups and usually provide cooler vapor) you can't go wrong with the extreme q and while I haven't used one personally I've heard good things about the herbalaire.

All of the vapes listed here are desktops that will attach to a water pipe for even smoother vapor.

For portables I'd recommend the solo since you don't seem to care much about stealth, it can be hooked into a water pipe and is my favorite out of the portables I've personally used.

Considering you have some problems with your lungs, I might recommend staying away from most whip style vaporizers like the Da Buddha and Silver Surfer, and probably even the Extreme Q. They all hit pretty hard and might irritate your lungs. You might instead consider the Arizer Solo, which has a much more restricted air flow, lovely flavor and might not irritate your throat and lungs as much. Not that the others are not great vaporizers; they just might not be great for you. Sadly, the Volcano might be a good choice if it wasn't so expensive since it's one of the easiest vaporizers on your lungs because you just draw slowly from the bag.

Whip vapes hooked up to a water pipe are smoother than bags. A coil attached to a whip would really be all he needed.

My first vaporizer was the Magic Flight Launch Box. It was low on the price and it allowed me to learn all about the vaporizing before I bought into it.

Vapor Brothers would be a very good start if you wanted something that isn't portable. It isnt that expensive, it is very multifunctiona, you can attach it to bongs, it's very easy to use in groups and by yourself. My friend had one, I always loved hitting it.

He can always just slowly move through the temp range to get less vapor, my ssv can hit about as hard or as easy you want once you get used to it. I would reccomend to the OP that he uses a water tool to keep irritation down. If a bag vape is what he is looking for an EQ, HA, and a one or two others are capable for less then half the price of a volcano. Having used both bag (volcano) and whip (ssv/vb) i much perfer the whip. The taste is better, it can be more efficient, vapor is richer, and easy to hook up to water tools.
