So Benzene is formed after what temp setting? I know it's not an exact science, but would you say anything about temp 6 forms benzene? I think i'm starting to fear it.

The amount of Benzene is very very small...it just starts at that temperature...

I will put it this way...the amount of it is smaller than the amount you can inhale while walking in a street in our industrial age

OK :
"Significant amounts of benzene began to appear at temperatures of 200° C. (392° F), while combustion occurred around 230° (446°F) or above."

From the following link:
CA NORML Health Information

Once again, the amount is fairly small and not health risky

Once again I must chime in. The results of that report were not quantified or explained. A subsequent study in which the author of that report also participated failed to confirm that finding. I've posted about this before, and that's enough of that. There are a bunch of threads that talk about this, including the one I linked. Back to the Solo please.

I'm only stating what is happening, its a fact that these things starts appearing close to 236C... Storz and Bikel also state that combustion starts at 236C on the volcano ...

NEVERTHELESS, solo does not combust, and these amounts are very very small (like I said walking next to a gas station will likely cause more damage)

And I've combusted at 250C BTW.

Double length wow I like that...hmmmmmmmmmm. No more tube if I want a longer air path although I don't have much issue with the solo with harshness. That was so smart to ask to have them make that.

I don't use water so if the path is to short it gets to hot on my throat. If I was using water I can understand that. Although when I use the infamous I use the NO2 tube so I don't have to hold it and can lay it on the bed.

Any ideas on this? My question got buried quickly.

I just got my Arizer and it seems like the battery is underwhelming. I've been vaping at about temp 4 with a very loose grind and domed screen. The LED's flash once at 7 and then it shows a lower number which I assume indicates charge. When the battery is supposedly empty, it is not heating at all and has a solid red charge button.

I just started the last stem with a battery charge of 6. I put the setting up to 7. It hovered heat wise around 7 but would drop quickly to 2-3 and heat back up after I started inhaling. Not sure how fast I'm supposed to draw, but I've been drawing very hard. When I first got it a couple days ago, I was drawing really slow, about as fast as you would a magic flight. Anyway, that last 12 minute session which was maybe 6 minutes at 7 and 6 minutes at 2-3~ dropped the battery from 6 to 2. Are my batteries not matching expectations? Or am I drawing too fast and hurting the battery that way by forcing more current to heat the air? I put the battery on the charger about 5 minutes ago and it's already up to # 4 so that's another interesting point. Is the battery "memory" weak and needs to be completely depleted and charged for a few hours? For anyone curious, the model number begins with M1A4.

Update: I just ran through a session on the arizer. Toasted to light brown when finished. Started at battery 7 and now at 5.

chromehorse,
I don't want to jump the gun, but that sounds similar to folks who have had bad batteries. Perhaps Ataxian can chime in.

I am very confused to your real question tis why I didn't answer. Let me just throw out some facts.
  1. You get the unit charge it
  2. Do a bunch of burns
  3. Charge fully
  4. Turn on unit for me that would be on 3....the blue light will blink with the 7 light then you will get some yellows which will be how much your unit is charged...you just charged so it should be 7
  5. now load your stem as it warms since the stem is hard to put in if the ring is tight
  6. put the stem alllllllllllllll the way in
  7. when it gets to temp slowly warm up your herb by either a very slow draw or small puffs
  8. the go to town...if restrictive lift the stem a smidge
  9. the red will blink if you draw fast cause it is regulating back to the temp level you pick...if it bothers you turn the unit so you can't see it
I hope this helps and answers your question

ok for those who have the Power Adapter... some questions about it and the charging cable:

1. when using the Power Adapter do you leave your solo plugged in all the time? and just turn it on and off when you need it?

2. does the Power Adapter also double as a charging cable? ive read online that it will and that it wont. so will it do both or do you have to use both cables?

3. when using the Charging Cable do you leave it plugged say after its at a complete charge? or are you suppose to keep an eye on it like all other LiIon cells? id like it to charge when im at work, but it would be sitting there fully charged and plugged in for a couple of hours after. i assume i should avoid this, but it would be great if i didnt have to worry about it.

4. is it bad to charge after every session? not letting the cell get very low at all?

1 I only use the power adapter when I need it. I find it's a bit of a pain

2 No the power adapter will not charge the solo

3 Yes I plug it in before I go to bed and leave it ther until I need to use it

4 no it is better to do this

sad to say, but I found another complaint about the solo that isn't charger related. I loaded up a stem last night, turned the solo to 7, then popped the stem in. I went downstairs to get a drink and came back up to find the bowl mostly vaped, even though I hadn't hit it yet. Turns out the stems get hot enough through conduction to passively vaporize :\

 thanks!

im still going to get the PA tho because im having to charge it twice a day... its only been 2 days. i feel that it may be worth it for me. really only want it for when i forget to charge the Solo (likely often ).

maybe ill give it another few days and see how the charging routine goes before spending any more money.

Bouldorado, classic rookie move ;-) I can't even begin to think how many grams of meds i've wasted the same way :( It is definitely very conduction, especially if you don't add the convection yourself!

The PA battery bypass is awesome...i've always used one when I have a Solo at home to "preserve" the battery.

will the battery hold its charge while using the PA? so i could charge it and the use the PA and whenever i take it somewhere the battery is still at (or close to) full capacity?

You got it, this was discussed a few pages back I believe. While using the PA, it will use a TINY bit of battery, but you wouldn't notice the battery light drop to 6 unless you used the PA for days. But if you use it, and you try to charge your Solo....your Solo WILL start charging again.

IMO I will NEVER own a Solo unless I have that PA. To me it's a MUST, but I wish it had a smaller foot print....like a wall wart or something.

My friends call me "Menz"
i agree!!! just got an email from them... my PVHES GonG that i sent to them has been replaced for a lightly larger one. i was told it's still loose but not as loose as the one i sent them. apparantly the M107 has a slightly different ring size then the newer M1A.

The largest PVHEGonG that we have currently still fits a bit loose in the M107, but not as loose as the one you sent back to us. In the newer M1A models they are very tight as Arizer made changes to the top ring to hold stems tighter

so i will be getting mine back soon and the testing will begin again... YAY!!!

got an unexpected package today.... it was my replacement PVHES GonG. got home and loaded it up, fired up the solo and pulled out the ZOB. the FIRST thing i noticed was that the GonG was tighter in my solo as PV had said to me in the email. i liked that alot, no longer felt it would just "fall out". then i hit her for the first time and without hardly trying i milked my bubbler and got a great hit. the next hits were equally good. and the abv did not have any green hints in it. the abv was not an even brown. it was darker at the bottom.

I do have to say i am now in love with this GonG!! PV has redeemed this GonG in my eyes. i look forward to using it again. Thank you PV and thank you for the new screens too.

I have ordered a PA clicker. If you are annoyed now order it. From what I read it stays charge and maybe loses a trickle at a time. If going out for the day you may need a small amount of time to top it off.

Smaller bowl size and fits into a straw so you can conceal the stem.
