A note to the Baller, I've owned a Q and PD (and VB and many others in my days) and nothing beats my DBV for durability, quality, and efficiency vs cost. The glass HC, exposed ceramic element, etc. makes me feel "cleaner" since they can be removed/washed unlike the VB units. A nice 7th Floor glass kit makes it the perfect personal setup (with WPA attachments of course)...IMHO.

Now I'm itching for my new LSV. Ordered on Tuesday...

Thanks for the research V! Been wondering this for months. I figured it was a safely thing (protect the element in case it gets pushed down by the element). But I've also found it to be quite nice so I can position the element exactly inside the HC where I like it. And after owning a Phedor and eHotStick, I have no fear of touching or moving the element. I put those elements through everything possible and not a scratch on either.

Hey Guys, I purchased a Da Buddha recently and have been enjoying it. I am a bit concerned about the ceramic heating element though. It is a little bit crooked, from shipping I'm sure. I can see that it is not exactly lined up with the hole in the back. Now, the vape still works, though I'm still getting used to it, but I'm just concerned that I'm not getting the full effect because of this slight tilt. Would this effect the vaporization process much or is it more the inside area of the glass cover that heats and creates the vapor.

I have not seen a perfectly straight element. not only that, they wiggle some to allow replacing HC without stressing it. the elements I have seen generally have a kind of curve to them, and lean a bit within the HC.

The ceramic element has no way for herb to stick on it. If you blow herb in the HC, remove it blow it away and replace HC over ceramic element.
One would have to fill a wand, attach it, and then intentionally blow to get herb in there.
If this still makes you feel uneasy, think SSV. It has a downward angle, and that eliminates the chance of anything going in!

If blowback creates combustion in the heater cover, discolored, hard to clean glass is really what you have to worry about. As Vitolo says, the element may as well have a force field around it.

Depending on your environmental conditions (amount of pet hair/dander, dust, pollens/allergens, dryness/humidity) and geographical location, you may, over time, experience a buildup of excessive *things* (see above) on the inside of the glass heater cover, surrounding the heating element and rising up into the top of the heater cover. This is a result of a buildup of what exists in your local air. We experienced this on our test models, but we expect to as they live in an extremely dusty warehouse environment. We moved some of the these models to a different and much cleaner location a few years ago, and the issue stopped immediately. If this is something you experience, simply remove the heater cover when cool and clean as needed.

my clumsy ass cousin [but i still love him] accidentally caused a blowback last thanksgiving. we were vaping hash/bud combo so the hash started to melt to the heating element. the only choice i had was to crank it up to burn it off the element. burned clean off with no mark or residue. i thought i was going have to replace the heating cover because it was very discolored. an overnight soak in undiluted bleach and a nice scrub with the tooth brush restored it to like new again. make sure you rinse very very well. this also works well at removing the slight tint that occurs on the ground glass section of the wand that develops over time.

What do you mean 'it broke' ?

Even if your unit is out of warranty, 7th Floor will fix the unit at a very reasonable cost. Get on the phone with them, and get this process started so the "wait" is minimized!

Chances are very good, and its definitely worth the bother! if its something electronic that broke, and its still under the three year warranty period, we will take care of it, just send it back to us. We do require a return shipping label to be purchased, but customercare@7thfloor.biz can give you more information about that.

If you have run over the vape with tank, however, its a flat $25 charge for repair, plus the shipping.

I was gonna say I thought it was around 35 bucks.. these guys are even more reasonable than I thought!

It's $35 if the tank runs over it twice.

You know its funny, in our R&D phase we noticed that sadly the vape took quite a hit on the first pass, (a French Hotchkiss H-39 light tank from 1939) but on the second pass the damage was quite negligible. You may take issue with our choice of a French light tank, its just that the tank warehouse was slim pickin's on a Sunday night.

LOL. this is some funny stuff. I'm glad if I ever have a problem with my Da Buddha, that I am well taken care of.

really. I have always wondered why I get restricted airflow sometimes. I just run the poker I got with the Da Buddha on the screen to get any little particles off and I usually get perfect flow, but one bowl and its back to being restricted. So I'll have to go try the screen domed upwards instead. I'll post back with my results.

lol. I never read that. I'm lazy and just go on the internet and search for videos to tell me how lol. Well I tried the domed upward screen in my Da Buddha and let me tell ya. It is as hard or harder to put in then the other way(I seemed to have it down to a science maybe that is why). Or maybe my screens are just a little larger in diameter. I have a bit of OCD so it has to be "perfect" for me to start using it. Because I am not a fan of particles. So I finally got it in a settled spot that I was ok with and put some already grinded buds from last night in it(doesn't even register on my scale so somewhere under .1 of a gram(usually what I vape in a bowl anyways)) and boy let me tell you. I don't think I have ever had this good of air flow. Every hit just went down with ease and I didn't have to stress sucking in so hard. Because as you may or may not know I hit my Da Buddha just a little differently than most people. I turn mine up to fill blast and hit it really really hard. So that I can get nice big hits in a shorter amount of suck in time. Plus with friends and such it takes away from some of the learning curve because all you need to tell them is to hit it as hard as they can lol. But, I really really approve of this method. Although from what Vito pointed out it is supposed to be the actual way to do it lol(I really hate reading but in this case I guess it would have helped lol).

EDIT: Oh and I forgot to add how I did it. I took a look at that video that was posted above about how to get it in there. Now I got my screens from a headshop here in town so they are not specifically for the Da Buddha. So they maybe just a tad larger in diameter. So when I shoved it in there so parts on the sides would fold inward and I would have definately been sucking bud directly into my throat. So with my OCD I kept pulling it out and trying again and again. Till I finally got it in a place where it was sitting nice and tight(some spots were still kind of folded inward and I was afraid of sucking in particles still). My poker tool that came with my Da Buddha is a cherry and unfortunately the green leaf on it restricts it from fitting all the way down into the bowl. So I can use that to push the screen in place. I have a different skinnier type sharpie that fits perfectly into the bowl and I used that to mash the screen more into place(I pretty much just stabbed at it for a bit just barely hitting it and it worked out). The end! lol
