Discontinued Omicron Vaporizer for oils

I own an omicron 2.5 vaporizer and so far I am unable to get any vapors. I've tried priming it a ton of times and poking an iso needle into the cartridge to clear up potential blockages but to no avail. Are there any options I can take?

Howdy, sorry to meet you when you're having troubles, but sure you can get this going. Guys like you do it all the time, right?

Several ways to get there. Starting with the assumption that there is heat (that is the carts get warm) let's assume it's a loading issue (by far the most common problem for new guys). Materials or technique, this is the most likely spot if you have heat.

How good is your concentrate? Run a 'foil test' and please tell us what you get? Put a tiny bit on some aluminum foil and heat it with your lighter from below. Note how it melts, flows and 'boils off'. After look at what's left behind carefully. Thanks.

Second area is the loading itself, technique. Guys get kinda shy (or skip) the preheat stage and the concentrate sticks at the cold spot and can be highly resistant to repair. In the early days I did it a lot and had some failures despite best efforts.

Anyway, I'm off to run a few errands, but if you'll run that foil test and post it I'll get back to the thread and take a lash at it with you if none of the other folks hanging around don't beat me to it.....good bunch, this.

I disagree. I keep my persei in my pocket all day. I can easily sneak a couple hits without anyone knowing.

I guess it is all relative, when running around all day with two kids space in pockets is a premium, with diapers, wipes, snacks, water, key cards, money, camera, tissues, lip balm, and a dozen other things , a small Omni is perfect fit. Yes i have a bag, a small courier bag and the omni v1 fits in a pen pocket for silly ease of access.I can palm the Omni and shield the cart with a finger while toking and nothing can be seen and by switching to the mini tube with a single 14250 battery the thing is tiny. So while a Persai is fine for me out at the bars with the boys or a hike I would not attempt to hit it 5feet from security but that's where my comfort zone is.

I will be taking the kids to a water park for three days, nothing like going to a water park when it is 20f outside for the high, think about it, would you have the Persai in a water proof case in your swim trunks? I will have the mini Omni and any chance I get to myself I will be hitting it. What could be better, the kids will be having a blast, I will be blasted, and the wife can lounge and have some drinks. I wonder if I can get a hit down a long slide and get it back in the case before hitting the pool?

That sound pretty good, depending on how heavy the residue is. This (residue) will eventually kill the cart by clogging the works up, but that should take a few grams as long as the goods fully melt and flow freely.

Let's focus on loading then, that's the most likely problem anyway.

Please start with a fresh 2.4 Ohm cart, don't 'dry fire it' at all, let's just load it. We're going to want to load about half a gram (more invites leaks, less makes getting it primed and running hard. Start with the loading tool on top (set it so the holes aren't blocked), with half a gram in it. Holding the cart by the bottom 1/3 rotate it back and forth with your fingers as you flame the cart just above the mid line. All around, we need the heat uniform. Keep in moving and feel for the metal getting hot under your fingers as the heat moves down. Stainless steel is a lousy conductor of heat (a plus here) so it'll take half a minute or so before it starts to feel hot down below where you're heating. The seals we must keep cool are at about the 1/4 point a bit above the top of the threaded connector. Don't let that part get past 'uncomfortable'.

When the heat moves down to your fingers it's also moved up nearly to the tool. Keep rotating back and forth while you quickly move up to the tool and start heating it. Don't dally, the lower part is cooling all the while. Heat the loading tool on the sloping part moving up to the cylindrical part as the oil starts to melt down. If you've done it right the 'just barely melted oil' will slide down and hit even warmer metal and slip down past it to the bottom, you can usually even feel the hot oil drop down under your fingers.

Don't let it cool off too much, screw it on the battery and give it a few priming pulses say 3 seconds long each. Expect vapor to happen on the second of third pulse, keep a slow draw.

Once it's loaded right, it should feed well down to the .2 grams or so left level. Then add the other half gram. Once it's going, the outer heater keeps is liquid around the wicks so it can feed well. However, if you get an air bubble trapped (usually because the load stalls out when it hits cold metal) once it gets set up you can't get it to clear using the internal heaters, you just can't melt enough of it at one time to do it.

Once you load one or two you'll have no further troubles. The key is preheating the center section and having it hot when the goods melt down first.

I currently have an Omicron v2. I am considering upgrading to HVD. Outside of upping the voltage and allowing me to use higher ohm'd cartridges and creating the minicron, what are the benefits to the upgrade?

Secondly, I've relied on the Ego-W as a nail cartomizer. Given that it is meant for the 3.7, can I still run it on the 7.4 or is that just asking for the cart to burn out?

Thirdly, what is the proper loading technique for the Ego-W as a nail cart? I've always just made a small ball and dropped it on the heating element.

And lastly, is there a date in sight for the release of the 1701 carts?

I chatted with Greg from delta9 and he told me to unblock the airholes several times with an iso-swabbed needle. After a couple times of that and inhaling a little harder, it worked!

The HVD upgrade lets you run 4 & 5 Ohm carts on an Omicron; By itself, and especially if you have a Persei, this is of limited value (most use: in my experience a 4Ohm at 7.4 is a bit hotter than a 1.5 at 3.7v), but the increase in delivered voltage to the common 2.4Ohm carts is very notable - i.e. use the HVD top on the Omicron instead of a standard v2 or v2.5, always. Also, don't discount the "minicron": The short tube with a 1.5 is now the only way I carry D9 stuff out of the house - The battery doesn't last long, but is plenty for short trips out - very nice and pocket friendly.

In general, the Omicron runs the D9 "extract cartridges" very well, but most of the accessories require or work better on a Persei. (The only "named" exception is the "herb/3.7v" Hercules, which should work on the Omicron v2.x.)

I have a quick question for you guys. I have been experiencing clogs and I followed the instructions of the wiki and even used a "Vito tool" with iso. The clogging won't stop and every once in awhile the extract comes out of the bottom (10% of the time). I just feel like the cart is clogs right after I clear it. It seems like every time I go to use the Vito tool there is more extract in the middle air chamber. This is the second time I have used the cart and I am using the same extract. Should I just reclaim all the oil and fill up a new cart? Thanks.

Things that have clogged my carts over the last year

Filling an empty cart with more then 1/2g
Over heating the cart. Multiple user on one cart or puffing away by myself on one cart for to long. Drawing on a cart with no heat helps cool and prevent this.
Drawing to hard. Carts I use through glass always clog. These clogs seem to be due to pulling oil through the wick and don't vape so end up clogging the center tube.

I use the pin method but do it with heat and not ISO. Heat pin and poke, repeat until no oil comes out on the poker, badly clogged carts this can be 10-20 heat and pokes.

I have only had two or maybe three carts leak from the bottom and that was when I was new to them and almost a year ago ( I have gone through 50+ carts since then) , I believe my problem was overheating and getting the oil way to thin. Reports say thin oils like pure gold like to leak.

Good advice GR. I also use the heat pin method and it has been working pretty well.
Its really important that you don't try to inhale too strongly and quickly or it WILL clog. Don't do too many back to back hits and let it cool down between hits. After every hit, when you let go of the button, don't forget to keep inhaling for 2-3 seconds so that it helps the cool-down process and will help with future hits so that it doesn't clog.
I find that with the HVD, many short 3-4 second hits with like 15-20 second intervals show the best results.

Thanks for your answer! That has pretty much convinced me to upgrade to the HVD. I'm also hoping the batteries work better. On my v2, they barely last 4-5 hits of 5-8 seconds while using the Ego-W.

Given the situation, I could use the Ego-W on the minicron, thus at least keeping the voltage within reason as opposed to trying to put it on the 7.4v

Hopefully THC Scientific will be able to answer my other two questions!

The Ego-w is for ejuices and if your using it for thicker oils your on your own as we cant help because it is not being used for its intended purpose.

the Ego-w 2.5 ohm can only work with 3.7v power source. Once you run it at 7.4v its going to burn out.

No date on the 1701 as of yet.

Hi guys. Am having an issue with a 2.4 cart where after use the oil is running back up the sides of the cart (not through air hole path) and collecting on the piece up top by the air hole. Didn't load more than .5 initially and this happened after adding about .3 more. Any thoughts on solutions or improper technique I might be using to cause this? Sorry if it has been covered, I did search the forum but had trouble finding this specific issue. Thanks in advance.

It's not leaking, the oil is condensing on the "bridge", melt it back in and keep vaping!

Also try hitting for like 3 seconds after you release the button. That helps get all that last vapor out and held too

When I called in, the lady that answered the phone said it was only for the 7.4 and that the parts wouldn't affect the 3.7 at all. Also gave me the impression that there wouldn't be any replacement parts for the 3.7..

This should be more clear!

That could all be true. G posted the same thing on the Persei thread a while before here, he might have just been thorough in trying to get the word out? Figuring lots of us Omicron owners would be effected?

I am interested in an omicron, and i have read that you should put about 0.5 of oil in the cart when you fill it. My concern is that i will not use the the entire 0.5 in one night. It may take me a week to go through 0.5. Is it ok for the oil to sit in the cart for that long and use it a few times a day for about 7 days or will i be losing material.

Also about how many pulls would you say you get off of 0.5 (or one fill) and how many fills does each last before you cannot use them anymore.
