Hello again, after much deliberation over buying a Cloud, I'm now leaning towards the portable vaporizers due to the fact that I have a Volcano and $400 SGW waffle setup and I see no reason to invest another $400 into something that will essentially do the same thing as many portables when it comes down to it.

My needs in order:
1. Thick vapor, efficiency, BIG HITS ( im a glutton)
2. Really would like an A/C adapter for home use, but a strong charge for when out and about none the less
3. Size isnt such a big deal, but I would prefer it to at least be able to fit in my pocket comfortably.
4. Discretion isnt that big of a deal, im a f*** off noobs kind of guy.
5. I do not want something that is ridiculous to clean
6. I would prefer if I had the option to use oils and loose herb.
7. Waterpipe adapter would be sweet but I can always use an oil dome
8. Accesssssoriesssss

But most of all, I want QUALITY. Something that is going to last me and not break and make me ragequit into the local bank.

Budget: $300 or less

Notable contenders:

Cera- loose bud and oils, seems to produce big clouds, seems quality, not sure it sports an a/c adapter

Pax Ploom- supposedly has to be cleaned alot, discrete, dont think it has ac adapter, not sure about oils either

Persei- havent heard alot about these guys just that they were expensive.

Help me out guys!

Or should I just revert to the cloud dream -_-

BlazednConfused,
Read up like a mother is the first thing I'll say.

I recommend the Solo, as at $160 I think it's an enormously impressive portable which can stand in for a desktop, has great battery life, works as a WPA natively, is made in the first world, and does flowers and solid concentrates masterfully. It never needs cleaning except for its glass stems, which harvest tasty vapor-goo for you to collect or torch. It's a bit big but can be carried in a pocket comfortably - if you have a standard Red Bull can, it is almost the exact same size, and you can probably imagine lugging one of those around.

The Pax is made in China, has inferior battery life, is more expensive, is far more conduction rather than convection centric, cannot be used with small loads effectively, and it requires somewhat constant cleaning apparently. Respected members on this forum do love it however, so take their opinions seriously.

The Persei is more oil-centric although there are herb and dual-use carts that are afaik still in beta.

Read up alot on the Cera for yourself, I for one will wait for some compelling user made videos.

I think the Solo is an obvious buy for most. I'm impressed by mine everyday.

Solo? I think it fits most of your points, if not all with some adapters.

We're here to fuck shit up.
If you do not want to clean your portable regularly then the Pax is not for you. I haven't done any QWISO or wax in the Pax, but it handles keif and hash well enough, especially with a bed of flowers, same goes for the Solo. You can use small loads I'm the Pax and get stoned. I've packed a Solo stem and then emptied it into my Pax chamber and it worked just fine. Wasn't as many rips as I would have gotten off the Solo, but just as medicated.

The Solo has the edge with battery life and being able to hook up to a 14mm GonG with the standard Solo stem. The Pax has the edge on portability, stealth, and being able to pack and go in one self contained unit. I can tightly fill a Pax oven and enjoy it sporadically throughout the day. I would have to pack a few stems throughout the day with the Solo. Depending on your surroundings, this may be difficult. I like the fact that the Solo has more selection in the temperature range. With a phone, a wallet, a pocket knife, my keys, a small container filled with herb, and whatever else is in my pockets, it is tough for me to comfortably pocket carry a Solo and stem. The Pax slips into a little leather pocket sheath I have and fits comfortably in my pocket with everything else I carry. This is especially helpful in the summer when there aren't as many pockets available. The Solo destroys the Pax when it comes to accessories. The Pax doesn't really have any. You can buy a new mouthpiece, oven lid, or some screens. It would be very tough to gather any reclaim off a Pax, but it is a breeze with the Solo and its glass stems. The Solo is cheaper by about a hundred bucks.

I obviously have no knowledge of the Cera or I would have made comparisons. Good luck with your selection. I'll be honest with you, if you're anything like some here, you'll end up with all three at some point. :D

You can remove efficiency here. Any good brand name big hitter will efficiently process your vapor. It's up to you to be efficient with your temp settings and in processing those big hits once you've got 'em in your lungs.

Your notable contenders don't compare, as far as provding those gluttonous hits, to standard sized home whips vapes like the DBV. That one's hard to beat, hit wise, for the best bang for your buck. Any small portable, including the Solo, is going to provide smaller, more restricted hits compared to a big hitting AC model.

I'm throwing my vote into the pot for an SSV or DBV. I will never sell my Silver Surfer. I personally think it is one of the best of the best desktops out there, and the simplicity of its effectiveness is just beautiful for the price.

As I said, I've got a volcano, and after hearing some bad stuff from a member here about the cloud I will not be purchasing. The volcano works well, it is just very low vapor/air ratio, but my girlfriend loves it and I was looking for something that could give me a little denser vapor and for shits and giggles be able to be taken on the go.
The arizer solo seems very promising especially at such a low price.
The only thing that turns me off is the warranty. If I get a pax, at 10% off I pay 225 and my warranty, no matter what "chinese POS" manufacturing that the pax is made of, for 10 years. Now that makes me feel secure, I have something that even if it does have some defect I can get a brand new one every time, and for an extra 70$ investment that doesnt seem like much.

A few questions

Can I vape hash/oils out of the solo?

Will the temp on the solo go low enough to vape tobacco? I also thought I might use it as a substitute for cigs I need to quit.

Does the solo have an attatchment for vapor bonging?

Battery life on solo?

Anyone who has had one for an extended period of time maybe 4+years?

A/c adapter for solo?

What cool accessories are there for the solo?

Thanks guys I really love this forum, all this stoner enthusiasm makes me all warm inside

one thing about the 10years PAX warranty: i highly doubt that in, let's say three years to give it a margin, you will be using your PAX. At the rate the market and the technology is evolving, it will be obsolete. It might be already for some people.

You can't vape oils but you can vape hash.

You can't use the Solo for tobacco.

There is no need for an attachment if you have a 14mm bong, but if you want you can get a gong stem.

about 10 12min sessions, maybe more. I never used it until the very end as it is not very good for battery life.

I don't think the Solo is out for that long yet, but i can tell you that from the craftsmanship and the ability to buy and easily replace the battery, i see it lasting longer. But, like the PAX warranty, i don't think you will need it to last that long.

There is an AC adapter for 40$.

Check planetvape.ca to see all the acessories available, plus there are wood stems made by EdsTNT.

I love my Solo, but it is not very practical for on the go hits, if that is what you are looking for. By that I mean, walking down the street, seeing a movie, etc. There is a stealth adapter that allows you to put the unit into a drink cup so that it looks like you are sipping a soda, but then you have to haul around a heavy cup. For a unit for use at home, that is easy to take to a friends house, it is awesome. Good taste, and the hits are great. Not quite as thick as an SSV, but still very nice. With the Gong adapter and the power adapter that allows you to vape and charge at the same time, you will have a very nice setup.

The Gong and adapter all extra and you have to consider that into your cost. But you can get the Solo for $160 shipped from Planet Vape. Can't give much info on life expectancy, but the battery will fade eventually and is built in. The unit is also electronically controlled, so it won't last you as long as say, Cera which does not contain circuitry. But I am sure it will last long enough to get your money's worth, barring any accidents.

Pax is great if you just want a stealth heavy hitter on the go, with no real concern for flavour or a real interest in using oils.

If you are not in a rush you may want to wait and see for more info on the Cera. The loose leaf attachment doesn't look like a heavy hitter, but the oil attachment looks like it will fog you up really well. I am hoping mine shows up tomorrow so I can give an update.

What's the word on the inhalater xp? It seems to be more stealthy than the solo, which would be nice, considering I cannot see myself hitting the solo in public. It seems to be able to be used with herb and tobacco mix, with its turbo mode that gradually increases heat. I like this because I wouldnt mind hanging on to my nicotine habit as long as im not damaging my lungs. Is the company reputable?

They only offer a 1 year warranty, this bothers me a little :/ Id rather have the newest vape technology I don't want whatever I get to be obsolete anytime soon.

The newest vape technology won't exactly guarantee it won't be obsolete anytime soon. Most vaporizers on the market have less than 2 years and many companies are already releasing new models with huge improvements.

The INH XP is one of the most promising IMO. If you want to use it in public i would favour it over the Solo definitly.

As far as we know, the company is reputable and in good health and it has been around for longer than many if that counts for something.

I don't consider any of the vapes in my collection obsolete and never will. They are all enjoyable to use in their own ways, and if I ever wanted to sell any, they still work well enough to give someone else years of pleasurable use.

Now if you like to always have the newest and best in your life, then that is more a personality thing, than the fault of the unit :D

Agreed.
The Solo is IMO the best portable for vaping around the house, in your garden, garage, car and where you won't be seen by random people. The Solo gives huge clouds while the vape is pretty smooth on the throat. Another great thing about the Solo is the all the different stems you can get (PVHES/Ed's TNT and probably others). You can find the one you prefer.

The Inh is much harsher on the throat and it takes much more effort to get big clouds. The Inh makes things easier if you're planning to bring your vape to a place where you need to fly under the radar.

If you have manly hands you can hide the Solo in your hand while vaping, but the stem and the Solo can easily separate and spill the herb in your pocket or car while traveling and not paying attention. After a session with the Solo, you' need to carefully place it somewhere it won't move. The Inh you can just toss i the chair next to you or in the backseat of your car. A loaded Inh wont spill.

IMO the Solo is better than the Inh on everything except portability. If I had to choose, I'd go with the Solo.

Interesting point, I can see the harshness since the INH is less restricted, but I was under the impression that the Inhalater produced bigger hits than the Solo.

Somewhere in the inhalater thread one of their reps talks about the XP having a new "high volume draw" and improved air intake system that makes the XP significantly better [than the inh004 in that respect]. I am interested to see some real reviews from people who have used the INH004, the Solo, and the XP. I will probably buy a new portable in the next month or two, and based on the superior portability that you pointed out I think that the XP would be a better fit for me than the solo pending positive reviews/better vape quality.

If stealth is a priority, the solo might not be the best vape for you. I consider it to be mobile but a little too bulky to be truly portable.
