Yet another suggestions thread

Hi,

Sorry for creating such an original thread.

I use medical cannabis on a daily basis, smoking it with a simple but beautiful glass spoon pipe.
It's still new for me, I have never smoked in my life before and I don't wish to continue, this is why I kindly ask for your help in order to choose the right vaporization system. There are many offers on the market and I have to admit that I feel lost–what is the way to go with a $300 budget and the desire to buy a good, efficient and durable product?

Pax by Ploom looks nice. Not that I truly need a portable vaporizer but it seems finely built, it would not take much place once put away and it looks just easy to use. On the other hand, herbalAire seems fine too.

As a new person to vaporizing and cannabis in general, I would HIGHLY recommend the HerbalAire if you don't need a portable. It's relatively cheap (170 on ebay) and is very user friendly. No stirring or work on your part is required for proper even extraction. Also no risk of combustion. And you can pack a small amount or a large amount for groups or if you just feel like it It's a durable vape that can be used with a bong as well for smoother rips.

If you look at other members' posts that ask this same type of question, you will see that the initial response is almost always the same. You need to figure out what it is you want from a vape. You have figured out your budget, which is step 1, but there are other factors to consider.

Do you want a desktop or portable.
Do you want direct draw or bags.
Do you use alone or with others?
Will you be using concentrates?

It's early and I'm sure I've forgotten some of the standard questions since my coffee hasn't kicked in yet.... But you get my gist. Peruse the forum and look at some of the more popular models and see which look interesting to you. It will help refine your questions.

And congratulations on your decision to switch to vapor.

If you want the "best of both worlds" in the sense of a portable and a good home unit the arizer solo will only set you back 160$ and is a very simple, sturdy, efficient, awesome vaporizer! It's truly solid as a rock and is appearing to stand the test of time

– I don't truly need a portable vaporizer but I would not like it to be invasive either.
– I don't know. Never tried either one, I guess direct draws are essential and bags are a fun optional thing?
– I use alone.
– I don't use concentrates.

Going to have the recommend the HA too... again. Jeez, it's as if I'm a sales rep for them or something . But hey, what works, works.

What is your tolerance like? Do you need to save on herb?

The logs are pretty efficient, are generally better leaving on 24/7 so they are always ready and can be very conservative while keeping it simple and tasty. They are also great to use with a bong for water filtration.

The Solo is a bit like the logs in terms of size and usability but they have 7 preset temps and a bit larger bowl and a bit of a restricted draw but it is a great vaporizer to use alone or to take somewhere. It is not exactly stealthy without some kind of cover, since it was thought to use at home and not in public.

If you want something that hits a bit heavier, and less conservative, the 7th floor products are quite simple and durable, apart from the glass pieces of course. You have the DBV/SSV which are the whip models, and the LSV which is an acclaimed success to use with a bong, but can also be used dry with a glass wand bypassing the need for the whip.

My HerbalAire has been an incredible first vape. It has survived numerous drops from counter height and just recently, I accidentally had some liquid go back through it and it still works fine. It hissed and steamed for a bit while it dried itself out . . . just keeps on going and vape bonging with it is amazing. The price on the HA, even the 2.2 model, is very reasonable for everything it does, with the quality of materials etc.

Direct draw from a stem/vapor tube or whip (tubing attached to glass pieces at both ends) is what most people end up liking. You have more control and can get richer (thicker) hits. Bags are just easy- good for passing around to people who haven't mastered the direct draw process for that particular vape model. But bagged vapor isn't quite as fresh, and it gets a little boring-every hit is the same. The herbalAire that's been suggested is a dual mode vape like the Extreme EQ. You can do direct draw or fill bags.

I'd agree with the DBV (Da Buddha) suggestion as the most bang for your buck in a home whip vape. I wouldn't buy a portable unless you want one you can use away from home. The current log vape models are very good for both air flow (for bigger hits) and conserving your supply if you pack the bowl a little more and/or sip your hits instead of trying for big ones. You'll use more in a big hitter like the DBV or with bags (it's a psychological thing, like trying to get good gas mileage in a hot sports car).

A few hours ago, thanks to your help, I discovered Underdog's vaporizers. This is it, this is the one–I fell in love with it. Hand-made with fine quality wood and supported by many positive reviews. I don't know, I just feel it's the way to go.

Don't have one (yet!), but from everything i heard, read and seen.. and your particular needs, i think you'll like it.
