What's the difference in this and convection vaping?

If it does work as sublimation, it wouldn't be vapor but gas. Vaporizers boil the oils in the bud and suspends them in air in a vaporous state. Sublimation is bypassing a phase shift totally, solid to gas, like dry ice. As it would work here, they would have to reduce the pressure to allow the bypassing of the phase shift. So heat it in a vacuum. Not sure if it would be efficient, or if it would even work. I suspect it is actually just a vaporizer, but I will of courrse reserve judgement until there is any sort of reports or evidence.

On the page I looked at it said...23 days 6 hrs etc...until release ??

mvapes, care to indulge us.

First things first - why post a vid if at no point of the recording do they show the unit working? If this was a real unit, with only 23 days until release do you really believe that this is anywhere close to fruition? Months before SM and the VXC team released the cloud they had video after video of their units producing vapor. Maybe im wrong about it seeming totally fake but come on, there's no fucking way there is a unit being released with a few weeks. Especially by this just being developed by "some guy in Canada".

That was an excerpt from the following...

Those comments may be true mvapes...I was just curious as to what your research had found.
In the pot tv video, (I think it was)...admittedly I never watched the whole 2hr's or whatever it was...but they did have guy's using it.

scroll to 1:00:00 he asks what is the difference and is this "gas" really being phased in a flash. The creator responds but had me scratching my head, then the two stoner hosts get in a science argument, while the guy on the chair is like please give me a hit!

I got you brother - I for one will keep doing some research, I'm not real interested in this product as I never jump on the new technology bandwagon until kinks get worked out anyway. But with that being said, I am interested in seeing what happens with this.

Doing some research and found than someone else from Canada has also made a Sublimator vaporizer. The Advanced Vital Plasmatic Sublimator. Very steampunk. Release the Kraken.

Hahahah that's just an Extreme Q with wood around it :-).

LOL

Anyway, I'm not sure this device does sublimination, but I would like more information about it.

I was trying to hit at this in my first post... I don't think this is Sublimating. Sublimation is a reaction that gives off energy. Meaning if you loaded your flowers in the device it would start producing gas/vapor with out any need for you to draw on the device. Since you have to draw air over the device to get it to generator any gas/vapor it is simply a conduction vaporizer with a misplaced name.

This seems like another "Oracle" to me. In the first 10 minutes(I think) the creator said that the heater "pulsed". The oracle had a similar feature and used an infrared heater as opposed to this currently unknown one on the "sublimator". As SliM has said before me, I think this is just a convection vape. A good one from what I've seen it the video but it doesn't employ the name given to it. The creator himself even said in the video that he's unsure that the device uses sublimation.

Sublimation, or going from solid straight to gas, would require extreme conditions of temperature or atmosphere. Think dry ice. Doesn't make sense in this case, this vape uses hot air for sure.

I could be wrong but it was my understanding that what we call vaporization is actually sublimation. Others have detailed that vaporization is solid-liquid-gas and sublimation is solid-gas.... I don't know about the rest of you but I've never seen any liquid when I was vaporizing. Early on, I heard Eagle Bill wrongfully termed sublimation as vaporization and let's face it, it sounds cooler to say "I'm vaporized" than "Im sublimated!"

This thing reminds of one of those soldering iron stations...looks about as advanced too

I did some quick research but couldn't find a phase diagram for THC. However, if this post is true, then sublimation of thc is not possible in flower form.
I stand corrected

Well it may have "plastic" qualities but its chemistry is much more sublime, or "elemental" . . .

Edit: It may have "plastic" qualities but its chemistry is more fundamental, or "elemental" or "pure" if you will? sorry if this post is obtuse . . . time for bed . . . Pondering the various physical properties of molten glass fascinates me . . . :)

Perhaps, thermal desorption is what this use of 'sublimation' refers to. Thermal desorption refers to (simplistically) high heat causing detachment and ultimately vaporization of molecules adhering/sticking to a solid substrate, such as plant material (cellulose). In this view, vaporization of herbal material involves 2 physical processes - stuff unsticking itself from what it's rather well naturally bound up with; and vaporization, going from liquid into gas phase. We all know that the desired terpenes and essential oils stick to anything, whether glass, vaporizer path surfaces, etc. In the natural plant state, these components are bound/affixed to the plant cell walls and any internal structures (all composed primarily of cellulose fibers).

In terms of desired vaporization involving sublimation, i.e., involving something solid becoming a gas, no way. The desired terpenes and essential oils in cured herbal materials are sticky thick liquids that happen to naturally come bound to plant cell walls/structures.

In terms of this new vaporizer, the wrong terminology is probably being used, but what matters is how it works as a vaporizer.
