So, 2 weeks in and I thought I'd roll a pure j as a treat... Tasted revolting. Thought I would smoke blunts/js every now and again but it appears that the pax has ruined that for me :)
This is not ideal- I haven't had any issues so far but I'm quite concerned that if I do I will have no way of medicating for several weeks. Do you seasoned vets suggest getting a back-up pax or buying another vap? I primarily vap at home and I'm quite tempted by the vivape2 or the volcano (or another if it's recommended more highly by y'all).
Thanks in advance.

And I live in the uk, so need one available here. I don't spending to get something decent too, my consumption has gone down by nearly 50% since getting my pax.

I would say, grab another vape. Its best to have options IMO. For a desktop i think a buddah would be great (and pretty inexpensive) but I'm really enjoying my solo as a home vape.

Home vape. Not the volcano or the vivape. I have the volcano, and seen enough about the vivape (seen it shelled 200€ almost new) to tell you, look in another way. Both not extraction efficient enough, and annoyingly loud while operated. If you don't mind spending the Minivap is perfect for both home and outside. You can even pair it with some nice glass with the upcoming accessories.

If you look for a home vape heavy hitter easily available, I'd say go for the LSV, my combuster friend got one on my advice and since he use it everyday. It is almost all glass except the ceramic heater, and designed to be paired on bubblers and pipes.

Home vape but neither of those.

Vapexhale cloud is an absolute MUST in my opinion. If you have the money to consider the volcano, the cloud is a no-brainer.

Not when you live in UK or anywhere in europe
You'll need a extended budget, and because it is not officially available for us, no guarantees.

It is totally worth the wait for the EU version tho. I may pull the trigger one day

Well, the international release of the Cloud is very near, probably weeks. Also it was upgraded recently with extended warranty and faster heat-up time. If OP is happy right now with pax and is just considering a back-up/upgrade, the wait for a Cloud is imo a very possible option together with other recommendations posted here (and waiting to be posted).

For any vaporist, I think a home unit and portable unit is a must. Browse around a bit here and on the net to see what home unit is best for your needs/wants.

Quite honestly I think the LSV is severely overlooked especially at its new price of 180$ you really can't go wrong with it....

What is new with the warranty? Does it apply to people like me who got a relatively early unit?

Spaceshipbob, since you're in UK the first option that comes to mind is the Wychwood Vaporizer, made in UK.

It is a log vape, a particular type of desktop vaporizer made with a wooden body and a resistance inside. Due to the small bowl and the convection design, it is very efficient and the taste is great, better than the PAX. It does not have variable temperature unless you get a Variable voltage power source that can be bought on ebay for about 15€.

If you would like a more hefty piece i suggest going to an EU e-shop like www.vaposhop.com or www.lacentralevapeur.com to avoid customs and other fees, at least for starters.

I own a DaBuddha which is great value for what it can do, the LSV is made from the same company but they bypass the whip so it is tastier and better to use with a water piece. The only problem is that the LSV is at 180$ in the companies website but the EU sites only have it at 240€, so it is quite a difference from the DBV that is about 170€.

My suggestion is Wychwood or LSV, but maybe if you provide a bit more info about your usage, prefered vaping material and tolerance, we could help you a bit more.

What do you favour most in a desktop vaporizer? Ability to save on herb, taste, big clouds, ease of setup, sturdiness?

Also, you should check some of the threads of the vaporizers of your interest to see what people are saying and the common issues and strenghts of each one.

Wow I wasn't aware of the huge price difference in euro shops! Doh! Thanks for the correction!

No, only new/upgraded units have extended warranty, but you can send your unit in and buy that upgrade including the warranty.

If you plan on using it mostly alone or occasionally with a couple friends I'd go with a solo or Da Buddha or look into a log vape, which are considered the most conservative. The Volcano is a really good machine, but perhaps overkill for one person.

Wow- what a response, thanks guys.
My criteria is as follows:
I mostly vape alone or with my wife, but it would be good to have something i can use with a group of friends occasionally too.
I am already pretty impressed with how much i save using a pax as opposed to smoking, so something that had a similar ratio of high to volume would be great.
I'd like something that looked the part too, but that isn't as essential. I do really like how the pax looks though :)
I am happy spending money, but not without a warranty, so buying a cloud at the moment is not really an option.

I have a wholesale contact in the uk, and so can get considerably better prices than offered at either of the EU shops linked, but there isn't as much of a selection.
I have the choice of:
Plenty Vaporiser - $165
Volcano - $415
Volcano Digital - $520
Herbalaire - $180
Iolite - $160
viVape - $378
Arizer EQ - $226
Solo - $220
V Tower - $163

If the Cloud is sold at the same price in Europe as in the states it'll be at least $450, but given how much prices seem to differ they may well charge $600 +. Damn.

Do they prices i can get stuff make a difference? If the cloud is that damn good i'd probably pay $450, but not much more. And I guess it depends on how long until they release it over here, i'd rather buy something nearly as good now than wait for 6 months.

Sorry for the long and rambling post, and if i'm taking the piss a bit with my constant questions please let me know.

Thanks again!

Okay I'll say it again, the Cloud international release should be very near. The last estimation by SM55 is they could launch at March. So it's not gonna be 6 months unless something really horrible happens. More like something from few weeks to 2 months. And when they launch you will of course get the warranty.

Of the vapes you have listed as possibilities, I'd go with the Solo for efficiency flavor and ease of sharing in a small group, unless you feel like you need a bag vaporizer like the Volcano, EQ or HerbalAire. Are your listed Volcano prices for the whole kit, including solid or easy valve and bags or just for the machine? The valve, if not included, will set you back another $119.

Out of that list I would choose the HerbalAire just because it allows you to have multiple options available to you(bag, whip, and direct). Then you could save up your money for the cloud like Seek ;).

Sorry Seek, i did see your post was just wondering if a cloud is worth $200-$300 more than a volcano/vivape. If it retails for a similar amount as in the US it will be a no-brainer but if they add a typical increase it's a hard price to swallow.

Thanks for the reply.

The solo does look nice, but i think i'd probably rather get another pax than another portable vap, and i kind of want something more substantial looking. The volcano prices include either the easy valve or the solid valve.

Hahaha are they that addictive? I'd rather get something good enough now to not need to upgrade for a few years!

I've owned a Cloud since they were first released and love it. That said, if I were in the UK and were vape shopping right now, I'd go with a time tested cheaper model. The last two quality vapes I'd consider would be the viVape and 'cano. The 'cano is certainly time tested and reliable, but you sure don't have to pay that much $ and only get bag fill. If you enjoy the vaporizing experience you'll end up wanting something that provides direct draw/whip use (same thing really). The viVape is a dangerous option right now IMO (and I'm not alone in that opinion) if you want warranty support, since the company seems to be on shaky ground. The $165 price you list for the Plenty is very good. A lot of people like it, although it hasn't created the stir you'd imagine for a Storz and Bickel product. I used a herbalAire for a long time and can recommend that one. The Extreme is also a good deal in a dual mode vape. I wouldn't consider the V-Tower. Whip models like the Da Buddha/Silver Surfer provide richer hits.

The Volcano IS imo expensive and very restrictive since you can only do bags and to get tasty hits you need to use a lot.. If you want bags i would rather choose the herbalaire or the extreme.

If you are just looking for a good vape for home, wife and the ocasional friends.. The DBV and SSV are one of the best with direct draw and to use with water and at great price.

If you really want to buy from your friend, and the solo IS out of the question then like i said above, herbalaire or extreme q.
I dont own either but both have its pros and cons, it wont Be An. Easy pick.

my vote is for the DBV as well. good price, reliability, and cloud production.... all there.

What fun is VAS until you get more than one vape! you already have a good portable, go with a heavy hitter. My suggestion (only because the VXC isn't available overseas yet) would be either a log (very inexpensive) or perhaps maybe something from 7th Floor. This way you can acquainted with a fog machine while waiting for the international cloud release without dumping a small fortune on something like a volcano! If a portable is in fact the way you decide to head though, IMO - I would highly recommend the Solo or (I do not have one but have heard great things) maybe the Inhalator. Good luck and welcome to the VAS clinic.

Get an lsv...Hard to not love it. So much more for your money. I just bought one, wish I never would have spent all the money on the other vapes. Blows everything else away.

It'll do anything you ask of it, other than blow bags.

You can use it normally with the included glass wand, buy a wpa and use it in a water pipe (my fav, hits like an angry rhino), buy the whip kit (great for groups of ppl), or use it as a butane free lighter and smoke out of it. Hits as hard as you want it to, or as soft, and medicates quickly. The legendary blue vapor, white vapor, grey smoke- it does it all.

The way I see it, you can't find a higher quality vaporizer other than the cloud, which still is not nearly as versatile as the LSV. Just in a prettier package with more thermal insulation, it traps the heat much more efficiently. I've never hit a cloud but I hear they hit similarly through a water pipe. imo the cloud is just for repeatability, ease of use, and luxury. The lsv is like an analog, "swiss army cloud".

Volcanoes are cool, and they'll do everything they're advertised to do, and reliably, but no more than that. It's a one trick pony. Overpriced and not nearly enough bang for your buck. The Apple of the vaporizer world. For that much money, I should get more...that's my opinion.

Arizer Extreme qs are cool, and they give you a lot of options, but from what I hear they feel like toys. And I've heard construction might be unhealthy...
