I've been playing a lot of far cry 3. Epic awesome beautiful game. Hitman Absolution too, and some Dishonored, but they have been put on the back burner ever since far cry 3 came out. I really cant recommend it enough, if you like first person shooters get it.

Do you guys feel it would be a mistake to rent far cry 3 for just the day? (redbox)
Playing it pretty heavily that ~20-30 hrs though :p

lol you could beat it in that amount of time, for sure, if you just do the main story missions. but this isnt a game you want to rush through IMO. So many times i start the game up while i'm vaping and then i get into the game and totally forget the mission or quest i was on and just run around fucking around.

My favorite thing to do is to just camp near one of the main intersections and wait for hostile (or friendly lol) patrols to come through and then fuck them up with my explosive arrows lol. Another fun thing to do, esp once you get the enemy disguise on the second island, is stand in the road and wait for a jeep to stop in front of you, then jump on top of the jeep (dont actually press E to get in it) and move to the back so the driver starts driving again with you standing on top of it lol. I'd just be standing on the jeep, being taken on a tour around the island while vaping. Then what you do is shoot the driver in the back of the head and jump off and watch the rest of the guys crash and (hopefully) die lol. It's all about doing it at the right moment, like when theres a bend in the road, with a cliff on the outside of the turn lol

Its like the beautiful graphics and scenery of Crysis meets the epic, open, huge-map-edness and skill unlocking and equipment upgrading of Skyrim or similar RPG. All with good, tight controls and overall feel to the weapons, which there are a good amount of (dont worry at first, more will appear in teh store as you go... wait til you get the signature weaps :)

and when you have to do that path of the hunter quest to kill the 2 bears with only a machete, here's some advice lol:
sneak close to them and start tossing rocks, they'll chase after the noise like the AI, lead them near the water by throwing rocks in it. If they go in the water they die, which theyre usually smart enough to not do lol but I started throwing rocks AT one of them, just kept pelting him, lol and he just dove into the water after a while to his death lmao, then when i recovered from laughing i did the same to the other one, swam down and collected my 2 flawless bear hides, easy peasy.

ok i'm gonna try to not go any more pic crazy than this, if u want to see (many) more, scroll through my screenshot wall on steam http://steamcommunity.com/id/stoneddemonicpirate/screenshots/

I loved the first Far Cry when it came out, and when Ubi bought out the franchise from original dev team Crytek I feared i'd never love one of the games as much as the first. I'll admit i had fun with 2, but it just felt too... stiff and repetitive. This one is just as awesome as the first.

... I just wish that there were mutants like the first lol

steiner666,
I'm mostly impressed with Mechwarrior Online, having been a huge fan of the Mechwarrior series in my youth.

However, Free 2 Play sucks. It sucks in MWO and it has sucked in every F2P game I've yet tried. The amount of grinding necessary to unlock heavies is absurd, and far, far worse is the limited number of mechbays. Oh, would you like having a reasonable number of mech bays? Well that's gonna cost as much as a fully-featured, retail-priced game, and you'll still be stuck in a F2P hell hole, grinding away.

The F2P business model is a raging dumpster fire of an idea. It makes bad games. I fear that it will be a major hindrance to the evolution of gaming.

I really wasn't impressed by Planetside 2 but only gave it like an hour and a half of my time, I'll have to try it again. Still, F2P grindage nonsense...

Heads up for any console gamers: If you rent a redbox game @ 12:01am, it isn't due for 45 hours :rockon:T
Timezones might affect that though.

Anyone on FC playing PlanetSide 2 or Guild Wars 2? I'm addicted to both!

Yeah I have Guild Wars 2. Love it, but for some reason i can't get my usual PC gaming friends into it. Well, the ones too broke to pay for games and the other is too obsessed with a different, free MMORPG (fuckin DDO) to every play GW2 with me. I can't even remember what level my ranger is, gotta be around 50-60 im guessing tho.

Anyway, my names Ubelsteiner if you want to add me. I play on the Northern Shiverpeaks server.

I enjoyed Far Cry 3 immmmensely. Only had the game for 7 days but captured every base and crafted everything I could

It's like they took my whole side-entertainment of screwing around in Crysis and made it an entire game with hunting, flying, and hallucinogenic trips!

Since a 'friend' stole my gbaSP a few years back I've been stuck having to emulate my favorite titles on either my PC or a phone. And well, it's just not the same experience at all. So after a lot of consideration I broke down and picked up a used one from a local 'retro' game store. So I've been vaping and playing some of my favorite games from when I was a kid. Totally worth the cash. I've been playing a lot of castlevania(nes), Zelda, Pokemon yellow and super Mario bros 3.

Anyone else find themselves playing nostalgic games?

Heh, now I'm thinking about looking for my n64 games.

I was a little disappointed by Far Cry 3 after seeing it compared to Skyrim...
It's a freaking sweet game though, I just wouldn't really compare it to skyrim...
(It took me 120 hours [I think, it may be closer to 200] to get a Platinum trophy in Skyrim, and I still feel like I could re-play the whole game as a Mage, or a Warrior [I played as an Assassin/Archer/Pickpocket]. I'm 22 hours into Far Cry 3, and I've done everything in the single player, and I'm now just trying to do the multiplayer maps in offline splitscreen [on my own  I've had parts where I'm using 2 controllers at once :D] to get the Far Cry 3 Platinum.)

Some of my highlights:
  • WINGSUIT BITCHES!!!!!
  • Planting C4 on a hang-glider, flying to an outpost, bailing out, getting a death from above kill, and then detonating the C4 to kill some other bad guys :D
  • Letting a tiger/bear loose in a outpost :lmao:
  • Running out of ammo trying to kill a cassowary, throwing a Molotov at it, and then realizing for the first time that fire spreads in grass... RUN...
  • Did I mention the WingSuit?
  • Unexpected Gory healing animation when you have no med syringes
  • Bowhunting... Everything
  • Killing a guy with the repair tool
  • Flame-Throwing... Oh that gut is hiding in a hut? Burn it down :D

Frederick McGuire,
I just saw some footage from Aliens:Colonial Marines....looks pretty damn good. I'm loving that it's basically a sequel to Aliens (the second and best movie in the franchise). That movie had it all. Amazing creature effects, badass Marines, machine guns and flame throwers. Excellent material for a FPS....sure hope they don't fuck it up...
While I'm here,is there any chance Planetside will be coming to consoles? Actually any MMO-FPS-RPG would kick ass!

So i have been playing a throwback rpg classic lately Planescape: Torment . I remembered this game being awesome but i forgot how awesome it was especially for its time. Great plot very dialogue driven with some very introspective philosophical questions, with a good amt of strategy/action thrown in. Very fun if your into that kinda thing i never got into baldurs gate much but Torment is awesome. I picked up an xp/vista copy for like 15$ with s/h and its ran great so far on my windows 8  They are possibly doing a sequel too fingers crossed

Looking forward to seeing this game too. No esrb ratings so they can explore more realistic mature topics like sex and drugs. Some incredibly talented writers with no corporate gags allowed to do as they will. As the most funded game on kickstarter ever almost quadrupling their original funding goal of 1 million dollars it looks like what the fans want too lol

I just finished DmC (the Devil May Cry reboot). It was awesome. The game was fairly short (about 10 hours or so I would venture to say). I played on normal "Human" and it was fairly easy. It was very accessible and easy to get into. The story was well developed and I liked it.

We're here to fuck shit up.
I played the first Mass Effect years ago when it was first released. I just picked up 2 & 3 and I'm almost done with 2. Great games. I'll be playing Dead Space 2 after those and then I'll play 007 Golden Eye Reloaded.
