The low end is Zero. Ascent has digital temp control, so really the temp is up to the user. I agree with the constant heat, but unless you have a flash heat the warmth in the bowl will not dissipate that quickly, especially if you leave the heating element on. Logically, only the material touching the actual bowl will continue to be hot, not the materials in the center. That requires airflow.

For the connoisseurs of temperature control out there, the Ascent will have a function that allows the user to adjust the setting of vaporizer temperature automatically. For example, you set it to stay at 360 for 3 mins, go up to 375 for 2 mins and then to 380 for 2 mins.

Once these hit the market it will be interesting to see what settings people are using to extract...er cookies. Everyone in this office is a temperature junkie...so we always ask "What's your Vape Temp"? I'm a 372.

 Well yeah, off is the lowest setting on any vape.

Is it completely variable? Does this mean I could set it at say, 100°C? Not that I want that temperature particularly, I usually start at 160°C (320°F) on my Extreme. Will drawing affect the temperature significantly? Is the draw restricted like the Pax and Solo, or free-flowing like the LB and FV?

I would love to see one wrapped in carbon fiber. That could make it a must have for me!

Wow! Really a great design! Very interested in seeing more of this vape. This one is now on my radar along with the mV...

Looks very interesting indeed! Crocodile skin though, really? You're seriously considering that? That would put me off buying any of your products, and I wouldn't be the only one.

This could be an interesting debate but rather than discuss it here, I think I'll start another thread on it in the lounge. See ya there.

I would probably be a bit put off a little bit as well. I think that might be too much luxury if you know what I mean. There is no reason so support something like that no matter how just the cause or little the impact might be. :2c:

Edit: That said, I see myself with one of these as soon as it come out. :D

Ape I just noticed we have the same vapes that is to funny. Retired ones are different. I guess we kind of like the same type of draw.

Sorry, if this is long and rambling for my first post, but I'm kinda excited to pick up a new toy, and it seems like this could be a really cool device. The TL;DR--

1. Ascent - Expected MSRP?
2. Ascent - Any clearer definition of "spring"? (I'm guessing not at this point).
3. Thank you, Da Vinci rep. Tell your boss (unless that's you) that your work made a customer today... or in a few months.
4. Any other advice from other FC members? I'm open to ideas/tips/whatever.
----------------------------------------------

Wow. Just wow.

I'm a *VERY* casual user (so little that I'd probably get laughed off of this site), have an existing GoG vape (vapolution I got like 8 years ago) I almost never use [not really efficient for so little use -- usually only bring it out when friends are over], but was getting ready to pull the trigger on a PAX because it seems like a good fit for both moderate use and portable/can be used in public.

I was looking at reviews for the PAX when I saw a side-by-side with the Da Vinci. It seems like a much better product with fewer issues. The PAX does have a much smaller size, and it seems to me that it might be much easier to use it discretely in public than the Da Vinci. (A tube to the mouth from a "walkie-talkie" might draw attention, where the PAX might just look like a fat e-cig.) Public use really isn't a major issue for me, but if I'm going go buy something new, I'll like to have that option. But like I said, the Da Vinci seems to be a better product.

Then I saw the Ascent notice on their site.

I immediately went searching for more info (Expected price point? A better definition of "spring?") and I found this site.

I was happily reading all of your comments, when I came across the manufacturer's comments. I don't know if this is common in this world (last product I bought was about 8 years ago), but in other realms, getting any info out of a manufacturer that isn't on the press release about unreleased products is a fruitless effort. And here is the manufacturer answering questions about an un-released product. THat gives a lot of confidence that the product isn't--sorry for the pun--vaporware. And not only that but the tone of the messages was just really open and helpful. And then I read the response to the gassing issue with the current product, and some of the interaction with existing customer. Let me say that I am thoroughly impressed with the company, and if I wasn't convinced to buy their product before, I am now.

I like the style of the Ascent (I think it might be a bit more discrete in public use, which nixes a perceived value of the pax), I like the design choices the company is toying with (I, for one, don't have an issue with the croc skin, but I wouldn't get one--Something like carbon fiber would be much cooler.) I like the multi-stage programable heat that was suggested (and someone suggested being able to share that program as data, which is a pretty cool idea for some future rev), and I, of course, love the glass on glass aspect. I presume the quality will be as it is for the existing product, so all in all, it is looking like a great choice.

My questions are on the price point and when the Ascent will actually hit the market (I understand that all products have some slippage in release time frames. Shit happens. Best laid plans of mice and men...). If it is $$$$ then I'd just get the existing device. Realize no one can say was the actual release is until it is actually released, but I was all set to buy the PAX today, and now I'm looking at X months of waiting.

I mean, I guess I could buy the existing Da Vinci now, and then buy the Ascent whenever ti becomes real. Seems like kinda a waste of money, and my use is so little, I don't really need two units. And I guess there most likely isn't a market for used vapes?

Any while I'm here, any other suggestions or tips or info from the other board members? I'm not on any vape sites since my last purchase, and this isn't really my realm--Just a casual user. But I'm open to any other info from the more "seasoned" people around here. ;)

Thanks!

Welcome to the forum nigel. I don't think the manufacturer was ready to commit on a price yet since we did ask. If I had to guess they would need to keep below 249 since that is what the vapes in this class go for. I mean if it was 150 I wouldn't complain lol. You will find lots of manufactures on this site because you have a bunch of well vaped people with others of us becoming addicts lol. I think vapping is a disease:rofl:. It is all DaVinci's fault since I never had the desire to vape full time with the MFLB but when I got the DV things progressed from there because I ended up on this forum the same as you. Ok so it is really this forums fault :D

Anyhow enjoy the ride and become combustion free you won't regret it. I have been free since august.

Thanks for the comments.

I was thinking the existing Da Vinci was MSRP at 200 so, the ascent would be well above that. But that's just my speculation.

In terms of the other manufacturers, I did think shortly after posting that I was replying to a vary narrow selection of threads, and that I could have been missing a lot of other manufacturers' input, and I should take the time to read other threads here. I apologize for leaving any other cool manufacturers out, and will lurk more. ;) It was just uncommon to see, in any other industry, companies being so forthwith.

I do prefer the vape but want something much more convenient to use. My mains powered one isn't really convenient and it is a little much for my limited use. (Great when friends are over though.)

Oh, and I've used a friend's Iolite (what got me started on the search for a portable unit) and another friend's NO2, for what it's worth. (And other units that work off of mains too, but it's the cordless ones I'm focusing on.)

The DV was originally up in the 250 range it has dropped now with my guess being because of the impending new vape.

Manufactures treat us nice and vendors as well. That is your best bet for buying a vape is to look who treats us nice IMO. There is category for vendors, I don't think one for manufacturers but you can see that in the threads cause if they are doing a new product they usually start the thread. There are also contests from vendor and or manufacturers and coupon codes.

Vendors get a little shopping cart, manufacturers get a little wrench. I get a gold star because I was a good boy.

Well gee paka I was wondering what the wrenches were for now I know. But he can check the lists for the other stuff...Oh do I have so much to learn. I am lucky that all I have is time.

Glad you added your vapes to your sig woohoo.

We need more info on this vape but I bet we will be waiting at least a month for a good update. This looks like a good on the go vape and with glass less residual odor which is great.

DV... If it's possible, do this.

Allow the user to set up a few profiles that dictate heat settings.

I would love the ability to "free-vape" and have Preset 1 set up so that it vapes at specific temps. The way I see myself possibly using this is having Preset 1 be my "emergency shit hits the fan I need hard vapors STAT" kind of thing. I get random bouts of nausea that don't wait for me to sit down and set up my vape. When it hits, it might creep in slowly over an hour, or it might plow into me within the minute. I would seriously appreciate the ability to have the emergency setting there, the peace of mind of having it go straight to high temps and deliver CBDs would be a selling point to me!

Ideally it would be uploadable, like a recipe of sorts that I just set temps and times and "export" it out. If that makes sense...

Will be closely watching this one, unfortunately my life took a turn for the worse again and have been in the PCU (right under ICU) at the hospital since yesterday afternoon, so there go any spending fund I had :/

Cheering from the sidelines,

Q.

This is actually what we had in mind when building this function in. Within the OLED interface, you will be able to set preset temperature ranges. This serves not only for medicating usage, but also for power conservation. Say for example, you want to heater to run at 360 for 2 mins, but then have a habit of putting the vape down for 2 mins...but don't want to wait for it to heat all the way up, you would set temp 2 to 200 for 2 mins.

So yes, you will be able to go to your control panel and just press on for your desired preset program.

I hope you get better soon!
