The pax is hands down the best portable herb vaporizer on the market! The cera may take that crown (when it gets released) but the cera is still not going to be anywhere near as stealthy and discreet! Plus it looks like a dildo! The pax is worth every penny that they ate asking for it.
I don't even think the Cera will be superior than the Pax, you will need iron lungs to get big clouds from the LL Cera, battery life might be close. The LL Cera looks a lot like its predecessor the T1, which I happen to own. The Cera EO on the other hand beats all other concentrate vapes in my opinion.
Just my 2 cents.

Great Scott!
To be clear, although I do notice the taste in my Pax is not as flavorful as in some of my other vapes, I think that has more to do with it being a conduction vape rather than a convection vape. I personally have never recognized any taste I would define as a plastic taste.

Me either, but there are plenty of flavorless gasses. I just want to be 100% sure it is safe. I really love this vape. I want it to be safe.

Right! A conduction vape never tastes as good as a convection vape. But the pax for a conduction vape is a damn good tasting one!

I don't think the mp even gets hot enough to release any gasses. Does it? Mine never has.

I want to clarify that I didn't say it was a plastic taste, I said the exit was through plastic and that it had a noticeable but not strong or unpleasant taste. I can see how people take that as meaning a plastic taste, but it isn't what I'd call plastic. I'm not good at describing tastes, unfortunately, so let's just say that I and others I've asked can detect that it adds a taste.

All three of the devices I listed are conduction models, and they all give me superior flavour to the Pax. The poor taste isn't from the change imparted by the MP, it's from the fact that the Pax is always cooking its load. It doesn't turn green until well past the temperature where the most flavourful compounds are vapourized, and the lowest temperature is too high to produce good flavour for long. Since it is always heating at the set temperature when it's green, it is always vapourizing and the flavour is always degrading. It's unavoidable.

Right! A conduction vape never tastes as good as a convection vape. But the pax for a conduction vape is a damn good tasting one!

I will put the flavour from the FlashVAPE when used strictly as a conduction device up against any convection vapourizer. I'm confident it will match or beat most of them.

If there is flavour from the Pax MP then it must be giving off something. I don't believe for a minute, however, that anything harmful is given off.

We're here to fuck shit up.
The only thing I taste is the flavor of the strain I have loaded in there. I don't taste anything else besides that. The Pax offers great flavor, but maybe loses the flavor faster than other vapes, to some. I always thought this was normal in every vaporizer. As everything is being extracted from the herb, it loses the flowery herbal taste and becomes a more toasted/woody flavor. This is my experience with every vaporizer I've ever used. My LSV gives me the best tasting vapor I've ever experienced, but the flavor still starts to drop off within the first half dozen pulls. That's about the same as my Pax. That's the nature of vaping.

One hit, two max. After that, flavor is gone with any vape I have ever used. Then it's just vapor until the popcorn. I don't find the "nonflavor" hits from the Pax to be any less pleasant than any other vape I've tried.

 As I typed it I was thinking I was under-rating "flavor." The flavor diminishes after a couple hits but still lingers on low, you're right. That's more what I was referring to as flavorless.
Love my pax on low!!!!!!
I'm getting to where I only turn it up around friends that don't understand vaping and think that the only way to get lifted is by seeing giant clouds!

VaPeD&CoNfUsEd,
Hi, first post here. I wanted to finally break into the world of vaporizing, so I did some research, decided I wanted to shell out the $250 to get the Pax, and I patiently waited until this morning when it arrived at my house.

I read somewhere (maybe even this thread) that you should turn the Pax on and let it run for a little while before using it, so as to burn off any production residue and hopefully make my herb tastier. So I turned it on, ran it for a little while, turned it off, and I figured I'd charge it up fully before using it. Unfortunately, when I set it on the dock, nothing happened. By nothing, I mean no light came on to indicate that it was charging. I left it there for a long time to see if anything would change. It didn't. I turned it on again to see if maybe it charged despite the light not flashing when it was on the dock. I checked the battery and it flashed red, so it doesn't seem like it charged at all.

Needless to say, I am extremely bummed right now after waiting all week to get my Pax and try it, only to find out it won't charge properly right out of the box. Has anyone else had a problem like this? Does anyone have any suggestions? I already emailed Ploom and vapeworld (where I ordered it) and described my problem. I imagine I will hear back from them in the morning and I will probably have to send it back. Pretty disappointing day.

I will nurse it on low for miles in my long commute home from work. Love it! It constantly amazes me how big of hits I can get over and over and over until I am just ripped and it's still going! I do find that using with another person is a completely different experience. When I use my Pax with a friend, I have to put it on high from the get-go to get the good results. It just won't hit well on low at all and only on medium for a few wispy hits. On high, we get big hits and get nicely ripped. I guess it has to do with the extra warm-up time you get between hits when vaping alone.

Bummer!!! Yeah I'd say wait on a response from either of them as I wouldn't know whether to say its the charger or the pax.

That and whether we realize it or not, we've got the technique down and our friends don't.

are you sure you're charging it right side up? with the oven lid off it'll fit on the charger. make sure the cords plugged in all the way.

Pretty sure I'm doing everything the way I'm supposed to - mouthpiece down when it is on the charger. The cord seems plugged in all the way; I've pressed the cord into the dock connector pretty damn good to make sure it's in there as much as possible.

make sure the little metal tabs on the charger are bent out enough to make good contact when you put your pax on the charger. Try removing the mouthpiece and then charging it. Let's see if we can't get you going. There is the possibility of a bad charger or battery in the pax.

Don't think either of those did the trick. The tabs seem to be shaped the way they are supposed to (the Pax stays connected to the charger when I pick it up) and removing the mouthpiece didn't make a difference. It's gotta either be a faulty charger or battery, I think. Unfortunately, I won't be able to fix it myself, so I'll just have to go to bed and deal with a few more days without a vaporizer. It sucks, but I'll live. Thanks for the suggestions. I hope to triumphantly return soon, with stories of enjoyable vape sessions out of a functioning Pax.

Good attitude to have about it! Once you have a working unit you won't regret your purchase.

i haven't really noticed this somewhat of a flavor it is giving off.

Could it possibly be from the lube? if you are using it of course. not quite sure..

No. I don't have any mouthpiece lube.

So if you pull through a clean Pax mouthpiece you don't taste anything at all, just like pulling through a clean glass tube? I've performed this experiment with several people, all of whom could taste something.

Of course flavour drops off as you vapourize. The terpenoids that provide flavour are volatile at lower temperatures than THC, CBN, and CBD. It's not that it maybe loses the flavour faster, the Pax absolutely must lose the flavour faster because of the nature of its design. There's a reason why other designers go out of their way to avoid always heating the load. You're not losing just flavour with the Pax, you're losing more of all the active components than with any other device.

No, I don't taste anything while pulling on an empty pax when it has been fully cleaned. Sorry, I just don't. I stand by my original statement that the flavor lasts just as long in my Pax as it does with my other vaporizers. YMMV, but that's the way its supposed to be because we're all different.

Yeah.. F* Combustion..
Just got back from St. Louis and back to the Pax, before I headed out I wrapped up the last bong design and put it into effect yesterday.

It bubbles nicely, and hits like butter

^ barely pulling

^ And clearing.

I will put a video up when I can find the time and find a way for FC to accept my Photobucket videos.

From one happy paxer to another, cheers

Pretty sweet ILC!
I just think that you might have to clean those plastic ones more often. How are they working out for you? I would also recommend using distilled water in them to keep the "funk" down!
Cheers!!
