Thanks for this. Considering the fact that the warning on delta9vapes.com says "Please be careful as this unit will burn out cartridges if you don't know what you're doing", one would think it would come would instructions.

Edit: This post is referring to the Iris.

Probably the one thing delta and G could improve upon would be good set of directions. If nothing else just a website with them printed up vs having to print one for each box etc. If we didn't have OF and Bob and a few others here to straighten some of us out lots of us would be having user errors.......

No instructions? Really?
The Hercules and Bender should have had instructions too.
How would anybody who isn't on FC figure out how to use/clean these items?

Question for the lucky Iris users...Has anyone tried using 5ohm carts with it? I'm wondering if we could load a 5 ohm cart and with different voltage combos, make the 5ohm hit like a 2.4@ 3.7. Then crank it up when you want a cloud.

It would be nice to just use 1 cart for every type of hit.

Mixed reaction to the Iris so far.

1. No documentation
All the new battery/power info is great, but definitely incomplete without docs. In my opinion, end users should not have to refer to electromagnetism equations to figure out whats going on with a product (esp while 'medicated'). Only really an issue to start with, but having zero documentation blurs the line between pre-order and paying-to-beta-test, not in a good way.
2. Lightweight Body
Compared to other D9V products, it feels kind of chintzy. You can hear bits shift if you shake lightly. Just doesnt feel all that solid. Can't say this has created any issues so far, though.
3. Power-On Options?
Maybe this is just a symptom of #1 but so far I can only get power to the cart in 20 sec increments. When I press the power button 5 times, I get power to the top, then i set the voltage. Pressing the power button once more makes it go red for 1 sec then goes off, no heat. If I hold the power button the led stays red, I get heat, but it will only work for 20 sec at a time then the light goes off. Not sure why but I thought this would have 'continuous on' like the hammer top? Did I just make up that functionality?
A positive addition to the arsenal but, in my opinion, it seems half-baked.
Have only tried with Herc and Bender.

I am using the Bender, but also received no instructions.
I think they would be a definite aid to folks!

I only use 5 ohm carts. U can adjust the clouds easily between 5.5 and 7.4. Helps keep my co2 fron leakin too. I agree with the jankyness of it all though compared with other d9 parts, but gotta make room for the elctronics and they are not the heaviest. I can see specs under the glass between the lcd screen as well as a finger print or somthin on tue screen itself. Works great over all though.

Ok Persei experts. I need your help. I got my replacement Hammer today and I think I got a 750F instead of the 1200F. The new one DOES NOT have 1200F on the heater base like the defective one does. It didn't heat up enough to vape oil from my ti skillet, even after about 2 mins of button holding. It works with the Bender, but I pretty much have to hold the button down constantly.
Also, my Bender wobbles when it's put in place on top of the Persei/Hammer. Anyone else have this? It's a little annoying but I guess I can live with it if it's normal.
So should I open a ticket with D9? I already messaged G about it. Waiting for his response.

Sounds like you have dead batts or your Hammer is bad.
The new Hammers don't have 1200 on them.
Yes Bender wobbles.

kevin,
Thanks for the quick reply, Kevin. Maybe I need to use full batteries when trying to vape oil with it? The box said 1200f on it but it doesn't get red hot like the Herc heating element does. I want to be able to do dabs with it. All I got was a melted pool of oil and a few whisps of vapor. Yes I was "stabbing" the bho on the ti pad.

Are you using the AW IRM 18650's if not you need to get some, the hammer will work but not as well, Also you need to start w/fresh charge. Give that a try and see how it goes.

guys the new hammers have the 1200F on them, the older 1200F versions do not.

As for the Iris, since there was only 100PCS, and all where sold to FC members

Instructions are as follows.

Click 5 times to turn it on.
Click 5 times to turn it off.
Click and hold - button and it will show you voltage
Click and hold the + button and it will show you the cart ohms.
Click both the + and - together and let it go and it will shut off the led light.
Click both the + and - together and let it go and it will turn on the led light.

Moving on to the IRIS issue. Many might have forgotten about the Iris V2. remember that i said that all who purchased the IRIS v1 will have an option to get the next version for a small upgrade fee still putting it under the retail value and making it a deal for FC users? This was talked about that i needed feedback on the v1 to know what do we need to do with the v2. The v2 will be much better as it will include the following.

Buck boost circuit ( meaning it will hold what ever voltage you set it on as long as the battery voltage is above 6.2v combined) The v1 does not have this feature, all the functions of the v1, also be able to go down to 3.0v Plus some added protection circuits that will not allow you to run a 3.7v Hercules at 7.4v

Yes I'm using the red AW IMR 18650s from Delta9vapes.com. When I tried to do oil they weren't full. I'll try again with full ones.

Thats pretty slick....Will the protection circuits only work for the herc? Or is the safety circuit based on wattage so somebody won't kill a 1.5 cart accidentally trying to run it on 7.4 volt

Hey G
Could you also make it so it doesn't roll over and a range from 3v-8v. I cooked a 1.5 ohm cart like that was @ 3.5V was checking BC and it went over to 7.4 OPPPS!!
Thanks
Kevin

Love the iris can't wait till iris 2, I noticed when you do 5 clicks off it stays red and starts cooking cart for 6 seconds until
t powers off, also holding down the - shows voltage, is that voltage for battery level?

voltage for battery level. And ill see about adding a 1 second delay so that it will be easier to turn off without operating the cart.

To make it more useful for the bender (and maybe the herc), 'continuous on' would be great. I could see using 7.4 to get it up to full heat, lower the voltage and keep it on to maintain the right temp. With the normal top, I can get a claw hand after a couple bowls holding the button.

If thats a no go, at least get rid of the 20 sec limit (Haven't timed this closely, just counted) since most bender rips take longer than that.

Do you have to do anything special to turn it back on after the 20 sec timeout? Or just push the button again?

Darb,
Tried doing a dab off my skillet with the hammer and again a total fail. I used fully charged batteries. Heated it up for about 60+ seconds. Visably red hot element. Stabbed the oil. I'm sick of wasting oil. Also used the bender right after with the same batteries and only made it though one and a half bowls before the battery died. Something doesn't feel right?

the problem is really that you are using a skillet, imho. a hammer or herb iron or hakko (last two get MUCH hotter) aren't a useful heating tool for a skillet as there is way too much surface area spread out to properly apply the heat. best use is with a small nail. i use a 14mm ti nail. i find it ideal. if you can light a joint by applying the wand at full heat and slowly puffing like you are lighting a tobacco pipe or cigar and can get it to light, the hammer is fine. regardless you won't find much success with a skillet, imho.

Thanks Bob. I'll try the joint lighting test after the batteries charge. I'm almost sure my batteries are good cuz I'm using them with the herc no problem. Getting about 3 or 4 tanks per charge.

Tried the lighting test this morning and bam it fired right up. Fully charged aw imrs. Used the bender later and made it thru one bowl before the batteries died. Any tips for better performance? When does the core come out?
