vaporizing salvia

The thing i'd be most concerned about is the taste/smell both during the salvia vaping and then afterwards with your Da Buddha (which should get hot enough, btw, around 3 or 4 like you mentioned). Perhaps you could ready some replacement tubing (if you're still on the tube) and find Iso or something similar to clean your wand and screens...such a bad taste, salvia.

Maybe it's just me, but I found my first experience with salvia to be particularly enjoyable. Some friends and I had just ordered Swiss Chalet and were waiting for the delivery guy when someone showed up with "the blackness". We smoked and then...

I remember throwing punches around and preaching from my chair. Then laughing, dancing, and jumping heel clicks! Actually, there was more falling down laughing than anything else, and certainly no preaching.

The farther one travels, the less one knows. Arrive without traveling. Do all without doing.

I don't think vaping salvia will work unless your vaporizer can get really high temps. It does not reach the proper temps to fully activate all the chemicals. It requires about 240C in order to work.
And if your vape can get that high... expect the experience to be more potent than it will be if you smoke it. When you smoke it some of the chemicals are destroyed
DevoTheStrange you actually are one of the people whose previous posts on salvia has led me to want to try this. I have a DBV, which I believe can get high enough, but I'm just not sure what notch setting will generate that kind of heat. Do you have any idea? I think it'll be about 4o'clock. I can do trial-and-error, but usually this board has the king of experience I'm looking for.

I hadn't thought about having to clean it at all :(
Do you think just the taste will trespass or will it get my tube all sorts of sticky? Cleaning is sort of a pain for me, given my current living situation. Iso would probably be the quickest way to go about it though.

I would say an easy way to find what temp to use would be find out where combustion for herb is, and float around that area if not a bit higher.

As far as taste goes, I would have an extra piece of tubing specifically for your salvia. When I used mint in my Extreme and SSV the taste stayed in the tubing part. Since salvia is in the same family I can imagine that its oils will do the same. Glass part of the Whip can easily be cleaned with ISO. however the same cannot be said about the tubing.

The one thing I did not like about salvia is overheating. There is a noticeable increase of body temp that I found to be extremely uncomfortable. I have done salvia several times, and each time I turned into a sweating mess.

I believe the actives vaporize in between 220 and 300 degrees. Compare this to THC's 150, I'm probably going to need to go to 4pm (at least using the law of proportions, heh heh).

Dang, this is good advice, but not one I can comply with immediately. Unfortunately it seems like 7th Floors website is "compromised". I'm holding off on buying a bong attachment until it gets back up as well.

I would also go on other forums that specialize in entheogens and read up on having a responsible session. All psychedelics should be treated with respect. You should have a sitter and be in the right set and setting. Dumbasses doing stupid shit is why salvia is in danger of being scheduled. Don't add to the problem.

This can not be stressed enough for newcomers to psychedelics. I am quite experienced with other psychedelics and am looking to increase my already rather familiar relationship with salvia. I have yet to take any chemical substance (well, since I became of an age to make decisions and reason for myself) without spending at least a good month or two doing research on any possible things that could come my way.

Wow right on daProfessor,
All of our acid trips back in the days had a trusted "roadman" :/
who just drank and smoked while he kept us from
having a bad trip. We tripped through Howe caverns once,
it was freaky but beautiful. A powerful setting :o

From what I've heard about salvia.. You can't even light it with a normal lighter because it's not hot enough or something. They recommend using a torch lighter.

That being said, you cannot vape salvia. And who would want to?

I have seen the "need a torch lighter" argument multiple times, but i personnally always used a bic lighter with good results. I have produced extract myself years ago using kilos of leaf so i know the subject relatively well. If your extract is of poor quality and contains a lot of tar it would probably need a torch lighter to be able to smoke enough salvinorins at once, but with good quality extract a bic lighter is perfect. The main concern with salvia smoking is to get enough in a short time, so to be able to vape it you would probably need to vape a small amount of very concentrated extract, because vaping a normal amount of 10x extract would probably produce too many puffs and you would not get enough at once.

I was thinking about trying this out of my Zephyr Ion, but it only heats up to 440 degrees. I'm assuming this won't work very well?

if your going to attempt to vaporize salvia, I would try and use a vaporizer where the herb does not actually sit in the vaporizer itself. Probably want to use a whip vape or something that the bowl is removable from, rather than a bowl that sits inside the unit. Last thing you want to do is give your vaporizer a really bad taste that wont go away.
Much easier to avoid with a whip style vape with a spare piece of tubing. That way you can chuck the tubing if need be and give the glass parts a good soak in ISO.
I can imagine that the smell and oils from the salvia would stick the the inner part of the Zephyrs lid and white plastic piece and make it taste something nasty.

I agree with dome though my experience is limited, a BIC w/ 20/40x didnt do much at all to me, switching to the torch made me see death a few times.

I think I have a 10x or 15x extract. I first tried small amounts using a lighter w/ some 'feel good' effects, but no trip.
I then used a butane torch and took the biggest hit I could hold, held it until i began feeling effects, exhaled...and I was...gone.

Different strokes for different folks it seems.

I have yet to use Salvi again since that experience, still working up to it. I think vaping some MJ beforehand maybe a good idea. To add a bit of a relaxant. The Salvi trip was quite intense for me. BUT, there is a lot to be seen and learned w/ Salvi, I believe.

EDIT: Please delete this double post, I don't see an option to do it myself.

So I vaped about .1 of 10x Salvia last night out of the waterpipe adapter with the LSV. Full temp is what your gonna need.

It was so different than smoking it, kinda like bud. First of all I didnt at all get uncomfortable like I do when I smoke it. It tastes pleasant and great vs disgusting.. And it seems to hit you a little slower and more gradually, so its not so FAST like we all know.

Well after a few hits(at first I had the temp too low ang just got a weird but powerfull buzz) I laid down on my bed with some nature music and started tripping. I had like no idea what was going on the rest of the night. But I was in this daze of wanting to keep hitting the salvia everytime I come back to somewhat normal. I remember I ended up watching stuff on the computer and kept rehitting it because I was thinking it made me feel like I was or was in what I was watching. Like it was so damn real after a hit.

Well anyways I'm just comfirming that yes Salvia is great through a vape and the only way I would do it again. It makes it more intense(as I had no idea who or where I was for a good amount of time), while getting rid of the bad side effects. If I had got this "high" from smoking it my body woulda been so sweaty, but with vaping, no sweat. Well at one point I think my left foot felt sweaty....

Anyways yeah its great outa the vape and instead of never wanting to touch it again like usual, I really want to. So I'd say vaping Salvia brings out whats good in it while leaving behind the bad, slows down that speed freak feeling, and prolongs the trip. :peace:

thanks for posting, had a short discussion with daniel siebert about this and i did not get much positive back in terms of it working well. i felt it would have the effect you describe, so glad to hear it. what temp would you say you were at and/or how did the herb look when you were done?

Well the herb looked exactly the same really, just dry dark brown flakes as before. And only like 2 hits had visible milk in my bubbler, which were the hits that got me tripping the hardest. But non visible hits that you can kinda taste still do get you going a little. Vaping it is so much better although with Salvia I start getting so confused about whats real I hardly remember half the experience. It really is like dreaming when your awake. Oh the temp would be whatever the LSVs max temp is, same as DBV/SSVs max temp. I think its like 450F or maybe even close to 500F

Hmm, never tried vaping it as I was under the impression that the heat of combustion was needed to release the actives.

I will have to try it!

Did you get the familiar "gravity is pulling me to one side" affect when used in the vape?

You can vape Salvia it supposedly vapes at 530F but I think it does a little lower cuz I just milked my bubbler with the LIGHT SABER VAPORIZER. And the temp is no higher than what most whip vapes can reach. And yes the side to side effect is what scared me when smoking it. Every time that would start happending I would resist giving in and that makes for a bad trip. But with vaping the side to side effect isn't a violent force but a nice mellow swaying. And I bet the launch box could technically but dont do it on bud because the bud will be torched before it even releases the chemicals. Do it alone, its clean anyways. But the launch box wouldnt be that ideal for the kinda hits you want it would SEEM.

@crawdad or @Nosferatu

Do you think you could vaporize Salvia using a VaporGenie?

@Nosferatu

Did that .1 gram of 10x last you the entire night? What is an entire night? (as in.. how long were you tripping or buzzed)

This makes me want to go out and buy some Salvia real bad!
