^^^Denatured has methanol added, making it toxic to humans/animals; otherwise it would be identical to standard everclear. Because it not for consumption, it avoids the liquor tax/restrictions. I use it for cleaning glass, but I don't trust using it to make something I directly consume.

I would not consume anything made with denatured... Bouldorado is rightit is toxic to humans and animals. Here is the MSDS(Material Safety Data Sheet)for it. http://engineering.case.edu/thinkbo...u.thinkbox/files/msds-1-denatured_alcohol.pdf
This is the important part IMO, Ingestion Acute Exposure Effects:
Poison. Cannot be made non-poisonous. May be fatal or cause blindness. May produce fluid in the lungs and
pulmonary edema. May cause dizziness, headache, nausea, drowsiness, loss of coordination, stupor, reddening of
face and or neck, liver, kidney and heart damage, coma, and death. May produce symptoms listed under

since there is nowhere at all to buy 99 in a store around here i had to buy it from the internet. thanks for the help everyone.

Here in greece they sell 99% at any drugstore for about 30euros per 1lt!
Maybe u can place your order in some drugstore close to you!

Wallmart in Orleans (Ottawa) carries 99% ISO in 1 litre bottles at the pharmacy counter. That's where I get it usually.

shoppers drugmart, walmart, rexall. many places carry 99 but these are all in canada.

also try farm supply stores. they sell it in 4L (1Gal?) jugs usually.

I was gonna say, 99 is pretty common here. Extra Foods, even a Husky Gas Station has it! Hehe. When you get the craving to make oil in the middle of the night, that's your best friend. They even stock big bottles of butane.

good call man! glad you found some. make sure that water is the only other listed ingredient. (it should be, and usually is) but if not, look up that chemicals msds, and find out it's boiling point. you will need to purge you oil at that temp minimum to boil it out!

I found this out when I bought "lab grade" ethanol... bummer. :(

The best I can find is 91% isopropyl at my local chain stores. I found some 99% iso on Grainger Industrial Supply's website, looked for stores and found out there was one 30 minutes away from me. I called them and they didn't have any in stock so they ordered it from a store in South Carolina and it arrived at 10am the next day at my local Grainger. It was a different brand than was pictured but is exactly what I wanted.
If I remember correctly you can get bottles in 16oz or gallon sizes and even a 55 gallon drum for those huge runs. Dont waste your time going there without calling, their locations arent exactly stores. More or less warehouses/distribution centers. Good luck finding one near you!

Order the sixteen ounce on amazon at like $2.63 a bottle plus $6 for shipping, its $5.50 per shipment plus $.50 per pound, so it comes to like $16 for 64 ounces (4 bottles). Its the best deal online that ive found short of ordering the 55 gallon drum.

Thanks. I live in the bay and have been buying Target and CVS iso all this time, they only have 91%.
Safeway goes by so many other names, depending on where you are in Cali. 'Vons' comes to mind.
