Wagon Christ. Extremely funky, trippy, meticulously produced electronic music with wacky/humorous vocal samples and great melodies that you don't commonly find in this type of music. Extremely chill and listenable, a great introduction to electronic music for the uninitiated.

Not sure whether Luke Vibert is a stoner, but it's hard to listen to his stuff without imagining a big vapor cloud slowly expanding/swirling in front of you.

Oneohtrix point never is a purely electronic musician, sampling entire songs from things like soup commercials and making them sound like... well, sound. Really relaxing loop-based electronic music, with heavy ambient and drone influences (his older work is much more drone based)

photokographer,
I've checked out some OPN, but not enough to really get into it. For ambient and drone stuff, I dig Keith Fullerton Whitman and Stars of the Lid, though I haven't been listening to that type of stuff very closely in recent years. I definitely like Bonobo, I think it actually fills a similar niche to Wagon Christ in that it's electronic music with some experimental tinges that's still accessible and could be played for a mixed crowd without a lot of people saying "uhh WTF is this?"

Music is actually my primary passion. Went to music school and got an essentially useless degree in electronic music (haha), but that's neither here nor there. Played in bands ranging from covers to indie pop to post rock. Been to lots of music festivals (Bonnaroo 03-07, Lollapalooza 05-09, several years of Pitchfork, etc.), but didn't have the time for that last summer.

Funny how vaping and good musical taste seem to go hand in hand.

im normally quite the metalhead, but lately i've been changing things up quite a bit and digger deeper into my musical library past. getting back to the roots, so to speak.

how could someone shoot such a peaceful and revolutionary man. i often wonder how much better off the world might be these days if peace, love and rationality still had such a legendary and talented figurehead.

OKcomputer, gold panda and deerhunter? (and radiohead!?) I feel like we listen to a bunch of the same stuff :) I'll check out Keith Fullerton Whitman and Stars of the Lid, sounds awesome. Yeah OPN's stuff can be a little intense at times

that's awesome! where did you get your electronic music degree? I only ask because I'm in a conservatory now (for classical music) and we have a electronic music program here (timara)
