Going to see The Horseflies at Berea College Thurs.. a funky blend of fiddle, alt-folk rock, ah..yeah, hard to explain. From upstate NY. Seriously- take a listen on the internets. So many good songs- all good!

"A Brief History of Love" by the Big Pink is a great callback to the best of the mid-nineties rock mixed with a little drone and shoegaze. Great stuff.
Nice pick, 'Dominos' is getting huge amounts of love in music blog circles.

Been getting into a fair bit of dubstep lately. Anything by Chase & Status, Nero, Doorly and various others :-).

Alice Coltrane - this album is a must, if you can find it on vinyl all the better...

I heard a CD called DrumSex-- wonderful rhythms, very tribal. Gets the groove on.

Just stumbled over The Beloved again. I think they have stood (for the main part) the test of time and still sound good.

and this is good but rubbish quality sound. give it a chance ^^ (remixes are amazing) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wCoernr45_U

You tube is really messing with all music videos. I think eventually all will get deleted if the person posting does not own the copywrite. Suddenly (im on youtube a lot) it's really bad with deleted music vidoes imo.

And this gets remixed and used a lot by all and sundry http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F_2Xa2EOXlM

i've really been enjoying Pandora lately. i discovered how to search the shared stations and i'm getting into some great chillout stations that don't repeat as much as di.fm or soma. So i'm keeping pandora running on the desktop while i'm at work for 18 hours a day.

i love wfmu - in fact a few years ago my friend and I were offered a weekly radio show on fmu to perform the spoken word material we had recorded that they play on the station, but to do it live - i felt it wasn't a good idea so we turned down the offer but i have total respect for the station and their true "free form" programming.

He is vaping at 3:54 I think, in the 60's!
great song. did you ever hear "blows against the empire"? - that's the first jefferson starship album when they were still a psychedelic band.
also david crosby's "if i could only remember my name" is sort of a sequel to "blows" in a sense. great stoned albums...

anyone ever find you have a musical genre you can only listen too while stoned? for me it is black metal.... I do not listen too that stuff sober. For some odd reason I only like listening too it when sufficiently vaped

Talking Heads -Burning Down the House
A Perfect Circle -Gravity
Nirvana -Territorial Pissings
HIM -Heartache Every Moment
HIM -Funeral of Hearts
Talking Heads -(Nothing But) Flowers
Tool -Parabola
The White Stripes -Black Math
Ladykiller - The Vandals

Nine Inch Nails -A Warm Place

stony selection: Nine Inch Nails -A Warm Place (Fuck! I tried not to pick this over Talking Heads -(Nothing But) Flowers, but it's just so damn good!! Deep and introspective if not a bit somber. Beautiful. Wise. Weary. Forgiving. Forsaken. hm.

Best albums of 2009 so far (IMO):

"Eskimo Snow" by Why?
"Is And Always Was" by Daniel Johnston
"Can't Maintain" by Andrew Jackson Jihad
"Hospice" by The Antlers
"The Crying Light" by Antony And The Johnsons
"Jhelli Beam" by Busdriver
"Kingprince" by Cassino
"Curse Your Branches" by David Bazan
"Moondagger" by Deastro
"Desperate Living" by HORSE The Band
"Someday This Could All Be Yours Volume 1" by The Paper Chase
"CrownsDown" by Themselves
"The History Of Love" by The Big Pink
"Tarot Sport" by Fuck Buttons
"Unmap" by Volcano Choir (For fans of Bon Iver)

Sure, I may have left some out. And i know there will be disagreements. I avoid the radio, but do quite like Lady GaGa... just too catchy.

But these albums were, overall, my most played and re-played, not to mention absolute favorites, of this past year. Still have a month to go though...

Lightly Toasted
Anyone here who has ever enjoyed metal will enjoy Mastodons latest album "Crack the Skye"

Be warned, you may trip total balls after a bowl or two while listening to this album :o The guy who did most of the conceptual side of it got his inspiration from astral tripping while he was in a coma. The core concept of the album is a quadriplegic whose soul is ripped from his body and taken through time and space while astral traveling.

I mean how more trippy can you possibly get people haha

Also Daft Punk is amazingly and surprisingly chill while mellow. I think Spiral will agree with me if he sees this ;)
