hmm. I'm about to receive my EQ on Monday and I am inquiring into this mod too. I saw several places back, like 170 or 180's, that someone had successfully modded their EQ to work with valve bags. They initially ran into this problem with leakage but he somehow managed to fix this with o rings. look for that post in this thread.

Ill try. Mom is in town so I've been busy. I think a few proper placed orings will help. I think the problem is penetration. The 18/14 is not that long so it's just the tip.

My cyclone bowl is stuck onto my heating core, I pulled with most of my strength and tried turning, im afraid if I pull any harder I may pull things out that aren't suppose to be coming out. Has anyone had this happen? I can't think of anything that would have caused it, I just went to remove it and it was on there very tightly

Try dripping some ISO into the cyclone so it seeps into the GonG joint and gently try to remove it. Turn off before, and let dry completely afterward of course.

This happened to me a few times. I managed to get it off once by putting the lot in the freezer for 10 mins when it was really bad (not recommended unless your desperate), but generally found that if I let it cool down properly and wobbled the cyclone bowl from every possible angle it would eventually come off - this could take up to 30 mins so be patient.

Try ISO like Stu said. Don't twist or yank the bowl off - that leads to broken heater covers, wobble it off. I think it happen because some vapor gets between the joints making almost a vacuum seal. Regular ISO wipes of the joints should help reduce the problem imo.

Either
a) Put your bol in the freezer and then try it (Glass contracts)
or
b) Soak your bol (not the device itself) in warm water or start your device for couple minute and then try it (Resin loosens) or you can try alcool too (but it never worked like the warm water, unless you have warm alcool)

When I had my EQ and had the cyclone bowl stuck on the heater core, I took apart the EQ, and got the heater cover off of the heating element. The left me with the heater cover and the cyclone bowl stuck on it. I put them both in the freezer, until they were both solidly cold. I took them out, and per instruction of some major glass company, possibly illadelph?, I used a wooden kitchen spoon, and carefully tapped on the gong joint portion of the cyclone bowl that was stuck on the heater cover. As you tap lightly, rotating the glass a little at a time, try to pull the pieces apart every time around. It came off easily IIRC. I followed this video to take apart the EQ / remove the heater cover.

There is a built in 'wobble' in either the male joint or the cyclone bowl, to make the cyclone bowl easy to remove/difficult to get stuck, but when mine got stuck, it would not wiggle in any direction at all! I tried, and tried...After getting it removed, it wiggled fine like it always had.

*Edit
Just a thought... have you tried putting your Q in the freezer for 15 minutes and then seeing if you can gently remove the cyclone bowl. i've never had mine stuck like your's but I would probably give that a try just in case it was an easy solution. i can't see where it would do any harm and it might work but if someone thinks it's risky I'm sure they will say something.
I had tried that a few times, and had no luck...stuck too tight...BUT, I just got really impatient, said screw it, and took apart the EQ. I was able to get the heater cover off of the heating element without damaging anything and my heater cover was fully intact. Once I got the heater cover with cyclone bowl still stuck, removed from the heating element, I stuck the heater cover/cyclone in the freezer for 15-20 minutes. While they were in there I searched FC for un-sticking GONG joints...I found a random thread, non EQ related, that had a quote from TokeCity. The quoted person had spoke with Illadelph and was told that tapping on the gong joint with a wooden spoon would help...

So after I removed the cyclone bowl/heater cover from the freezer, I tried twisting/rocking gently and pulling, with no results. Then I took a wooden spoon, and tapped around the gong joint for about a minute or two. I gave a twist and it snapped free! I got the cyclone removed from the heater cover, without damaging either of them! I put the heater cover back on the heating element, and reassembled the EQ. Once I got to the point of connecting the LCD/control panel and the power cable, I turned it on to confirm it was making heat, before putting it together any further.

I'm so happy I got impatient enough to just go for it, and that it worked! I vaped a nice bowl of AK-47, packed in the elbow screen, sat in the downstem of the bong, with the q held gently in the down stem Cloud style! :) Got some tasty whip-free hits between 165C and 195C.

Thanks again Photobooth for posting that video!

Hello to all! i bought an Extreme Q thanks to this forum. I spent a lot of time researching on here and decided the Extreme Q was the right one for me. I dont care for the bag at all. Tastes bad and stale. The whip was alright until I read about the elbow pack and that is the way to go. I turn on my vaporizor to 195 C and let it warm up for ten minutes. Then i pack the grinded up herb loosly in the elbow and let that bake at 195 C for 5 minutes. Once my 5 minutes is up i turn the vaporizor down to 185 C and turn on the fan to setting 3 slowly drawing for about a minute. Amazing, i blow out a thick hit of vapor that gives me the sensation of a bong load! Love it. Kudos to all who have helped me go away from combustion, i feel much heathier. I also pickep up the NO2 and love it as a portable. WOrks way better than my buddies iolite, like a lot better. I have noticed on the extreme q that if soak the elbow screen in rubbing alcohol every other day and rotate the two i have that it stays cleer and allows for bigger denser hits. Also packing more weed into the elbow i have noticed doesnt always mean bigger hits, it tends to not let enough air through. Rastafari Bless!

Hi everyone.
I got the V-Tower yesterday, and spent the day getting used to it because I never vaped before.
The high wasn't as good yesterday is it is today. I use the elbow pack method mostly, and love it.

That makes sense to me. It takes a little while to adjust. Don't neglect to experiment with the tastes and effects at different temperatures. For me, the flavour was a huge positive aspect of switching.

Yes I agree, the taste is a huge plus, and I've been experimenting with my temps as well.
There's a lot of info in this forum:) It's great!

If you want to settle down to one of those mind-melting sessions, just use the cyclone bowl without the elbow pack. Fill it almost to the black. Thing hits forever for one guy. Uses more weed, but is a nice relaxing way to end the day!

I ordered an Extreme Q the other day, it's supposed to come in this Tuesday. From the comments I've read in this thread it's advised that I get a silicone whip (rather than the stock one) ASAP. Where can I get a silicone whip? What other things do you recommend that I purchase that isn't included in the stock accessory kit?

What other things do you recommend that I purchase that isn't included in the stock accessory kit?

a) "Hose"(Whip/Wand) - "Silicone" replacement hose(many sources),
or, as an alternative : "SSV" or "DBV" hose replacement.

* an addition to 'a' *
a-sub1-
"Hose Clamp" - "Roller/Pressure", think 'Medical', as in "I.V. Bag&Line";
to conserve vapor, in whip, between dosages.
Additionally: Look into 'clamps' from "Hydration Bags/Products".
or
a-sub2-
"Female 14 mm Stopper"(plus 'K' clips), to 'Cap' mouth-piece between dosages.
[see next entry]

b) "14 mm Male joint with hose barb/attachment"
- Allows for 'EZ' connect to "H2O" piece, as well as an alternative mouthpiece.
FYI: May need to combo with a '14mm-to-19mm' 'lo-pro bushing',
for total compatibility with "H2O" piece(s).
c) "Test-tube Clamp"- "Cyclone Bowl" gets warm during use...lol.
d) "Extra...(s)" : 1) Screens - "Cyclone & Elbow", 2) "Elbow(s)", 3) "Turkey/Baster Bags",
Many other item(s) come to mind , but I believe these are the 'biggies', to start.

The next items are for convenience sake, and are personal selections...

e) "Measuring-spoon" - A ".25/ quarter-teaspoon" measuring spoon( to load "Cyclone Bowl")
f) "Funnel" - For the 'fumble-fingered' : Boro 19/22 50mm diameter(from major lab glass co./"ebay");
makes for less-messy loading of "Cyclone Bowls".
g) "Bowl Stand" - A "Male 19/22 joint fab'd into a "Stand"(Beaker/Pedestal/etc.),
to hold "Cyclone Bowl" during loading; think "Male" slide-holder for "Female" slide/bowls.
h) "Brushes" - Combo of two(2) brushes covers most "Dry" needs-
1) The "MFLB" brush for fine work and clearing screens, and 2) The "Volcano" brush for 'other'.
i) "ABV Container" - Something to store your "semi-spent meds" in
(think soft sided plastic, it avoids those nasty "tinks", as glass 'HITS' glass, lol!).

Anyhoo, I think I covered 'my' biggies. I'm sure others have additional suggestions,
and I'm sure someone, will chime in with an objection or two, regarding 'my' selections...

as for these hose clamps/female stoppers, can you give me a link where to buy them? i tried looking around for vape hose clamps and couldnt find anything.

Answered: "...as an alternative : "SSV" or "DBV" hose replacement."

"...looking around for vape hose clamps and couldn't find anything."

You'll find out very quickly, searching for hardware and accessories,
the item names, descriptions, intended uses, x-purposed uses, etc.,
vary quite dramatically. We don't have to even bring up the nastier, deceitful,
less well intentioned among us(who hasn't come up against "Bait&Switch"?).
Being as 'fluid' as it is(imo: "read: Greed") the 'industry' does not discriminate(IMO, it should).

There is, AFAIK, no industry standard for "definition(s)", or "uses" of items/parts.
FYI: Notice the 'Industry' 'schizophrenia' regarding use of the correct nomenclature,
when it comes to referencing the correct size of a 19mm joint.
The 'Borosilicate Glass Industry' says one way: "19mm".
"The Pro-sumer"(and most "Stoners") say: "18mm".
Go figure...

The above references just the "USA", include International,
and 'thangs' get crazier still :"19/22, 19/24, 19/26, 19/38...?"
Wtf?

Note: Something to keep in mind...
Definitions, details n' such, change, or are regionally different;
relative position in the "Cannabis Industry" 'food-chain' also has an effect...
RE: 'manufacturer/fulfillment/distribution/etc.' all at different stages, as well as 'locale',
will impact 'how-what-why' something is described/named as it is.

In sourcing parts and accessories, its often helpful to envision the ultimate use or function,
of an item or assembly..., then to imagine, what if any use the same item or assembly,
may serve in more common every-day instances.

IMO, to be a "Well-rounded, informed, and functional "Vaporist"(let alone: "Patient"),
"My" number one suggestion would be:
"Think Outside the Box"!

*Separate Post/ additional subject*
MOD: If there is a problem lmk? Okay?-TY

In all the preceding, I neglected to touch on what may be the most,
IMO, important accessory that you can add to your "EQ" kit:

A "Grinder".

Note: I know I'm opening a "Pandora's Box" by saying so.., but...
In "My" opinion:
The grinder that you ultimately select, let alone keep and use,
with allowing for the needs of the physically challenged,
as in size/grip/ease of use/etc.", I believe one of the most important details,
"If not the most important detail, relative to the subject at hand..."

(IMO)
"The Quality of the Strain Selection,
The Quality of the Harvest,
and
The Quality of the Cure".

When I first received my "WA MMJ Rec" in 2009,
my first purchase, beyond the "Meds"...
was a then "Contemporary"/2009", Clear Aluminum,
Four(4) piece, "SharpStone".

We will return to the "SS" in a moment...

Xmas 2011, while perusing "*bay" auctions,
I came across offerings from "Rox&Dave"(I believe).
"Mendo Mulcher" was the listed subject.
Their "New Two Inch Vaporizer-Specific Grinder"...
("Dave" should have capitalized on it by calling it the "Vapor-Mulcher", lol!)
This "Mulcher" was different from their regular offerings,
which came in "Clear Aluminum" only, in that it was..."Anodized Green"!
The 'Size' of the 'Grind' was new also; And is "Perfect" (IMO).

FYI: Not sure what all the fuss about "SharpStone" grinders is all about.
I do understand that there are a lot of counterfeit goods in general,
and that "SharpStone" has been copied/counterfeited more than most...
but it doesn't detract from this models usefulness and quality.

Note: "Counterfeit" quality, has suffered this "Brand" to many undeserved slights.
The Original and Authentic "SharpStone" Grinders, are IMO,
a first quality piece o' kit and deserve to be recognized as such.

As I understand: "SpaceCase"-"Titanium" Two(2) Piece & Four(4) Piece grinders,
are deservedly worth consideration; notoriously over priced(imo),
they also get "Taxed" heavily at "LHS" across the "Land"(flexible markup?)
'nuff said...

"In My Opinion":
"Probably one of the worst offending pieces of mis-information that I have come across,
and personally dis-proven to my complete satisfaction, in spite of the 'nay-sayers'...

"Acrylic Grinders", given a steady diet o' "First Quality Meds", are da shizz!
(Okay, sorry. I'm wayyy too old to try sounding "hip", lol.)

FYI: I do know that I enjoy a particular sub-set,
in that I've been able to "Medicate" "from the "Top Shelf" for the last two(2) years.
Not putting this out there to excite, insult, or offend, but to lend context.

As of late, the one grinder that I have in my collection that has seen the most use:
Surprisingly(at least, imo)...

The "VapeWorld" Two(2) Piece Acrylic Smoke Grinder.
("Freebie", that came with my "Extreme Q". Ftw!)

So to 'wrap', I'd say: Pay attention to the quality of the medicine that you acquire.
In that you are new to vaporization, with a whole "Bold New World" to explore...
You pretty much have all, with the above noted exceptions, of the necessary items to get started.
Just keep an open mind & "Experiment" - It's your machine(it won't mind, lol).
Oh yeah, and "Enjoy!"

Well grown, harvested & dried, correctly cured Cannabis,
will be easy and pleasurable to medicate with,
regardless the form of the medicine,
or the exact method of vaporization.
Its all good!

And Remember Kidz...
"Well respected and well treated Cannabis is superior to all else."

I've always used the stock whip...why not?
Silicon whip is more flexible with a higher heat tolerance. The flexibility helps if your wand or mouthpiece get stuck.

I initially had problems with the "Built-in Free-Form English",
that the OEM hose can exhibit.
And that most "EQ" owners are familiar with...
"You go right, hose goes left, taking 'glass' with it. Not good!

Then came my first cleaning, and first 'harvest' o' "re-claim"!
I had the 'bright' idea, of "hanging" the hose,
with the end weighted and "suspended" over a dish.
Then, 'wait-for-it...', I took my "Heat Gun" to it...

'Good' news: It worked famously!
One dish, full o' Cherry-Red Re-Claim! Ftw!

'Bad' news: Completely removed the "Built-In English".
Now it's 'rubbery', 'loose', and not really pretty. Lol.

But it works, and It's Clean!

FYI: Just thought I'd put the info out there.
I do not recommend this over "Replacement".
(Unless of course, "you're broke", "don't give-a-cr*p about smell/taste",
"just want to get vapor into your lungs asap!", or all the above, lol.)
