PUFFiT portable

I think it goes back to what you need a vape for, what kind of illnesses you have, is the heat level very important for your condition(s), among other factors along the same line. I know the way the puffit is made at the moment will not give me the meds I need so even if it was free it would be useless.
From quick googling, it seems the Puffit claims to go up to 430 degrees, while the high setting on the Pax is 410.. If the vaporizing point of CBN is 415 degrees, then does this mean the Pax is not suitable? Or are these temperatures incorrect? It seems that the Pax would have more power than the Puffit.

While I understand that approach, I'd like to suggest a slightly different perspective. In the end, of course, it's a personal choice as it should be.

Two points, first I think the cost difference, large as it is, is small relative to the cost of all the herb you hope to run through it. I've no idea your costs, of course, but the hundred dollars difference could be a few percent of the total over the next year or two you hope to use it.

Secondly, if you opt to 'go cheap' and later upgrade to the unit that really fits your needs (the one you'll actually use for that year or two) you'll have to add the cost of the unused vape to the total, that is that decision costs you say $350, not the $250 Pax would today (assuming that's what happens).
This is a very good point. Also, I think the Pax would allow me to quit combustion altogether.. and that's always a good thing. I'm a bit concerned with some of the complaints I'm seeing on their FB page, but that discussion is for the Pax thread.

The pax is not the only vape out there which is great. You have lots of good choices. I have been in this thread from the beginning and the pax doesn't go that hot. Also at that kind of heat you will be hurting your throat and lungs IMO. I don't remember the temp but at some point it will combust and that isn't what you want. I have the INH and have said several times on that thread I don't think my temp is right. I feel comfy at 375 and usually go opposite of what others do and drop down in temp when the taste gets bad to 367. On the INH I am at around 5 which is supposedly well under those temps. It would be great if you could try them. On one of the threads, and OF might remember, someone said that they go to there dispensary and gets to try vapes. It was a cali person but not sure where in cali.

mmenzie you have good vapes. Sell da puffit and get the one you want next. Make a jar of cash until you can get it.:)

This is brilliant... It's probably in Northern Cali, but if it was in SoCal, that would be amazing. A very good idea. I went to a few head shops today in hopes of finding vaporizers, but I didn't like any of them that they had. No Puffits or Pax there.

Honestly, as said before, The puffit may very well reach 430 degrees on the metal part of the heating chamber at the most opportune time at it's very best, but it def doesn't hit that consistently. And it def doesn't get the herbs to that temp. Just sayin'.

A little while ago I reviewed the PuffiT and interviewed its creator, Andrew Miller (those of you who missed it can find it here: http://dopecast.libsyn.com/dopecast335-the-ultimate-puf-fi-t-vaporizer-review). My main piece of feedback to Andrew was that it was difficult to get good thick clouds of vapour with the PuffiT, and my hat's off to him for actually taking this on board and immediately going out and figuring out a solution.

He sent it to me last week, and it works brilliantly. He calls it the "vapor enhancement thingy", and it does exactly what its supposed to. I now get very nice, thick clouds of vapour with my PuffiT. Here's a pic: http://postimage.org/image/cjw1wtgb9/

Andrew tells me that as soon as he's ironed out some details it will be included with every Puffit sold, and that those who already own a Puffit can request one free of charge.

hmmm if you read a few posts up to mine, i said that after my "persistence" with GotVape in trying to get them to send me a "fan pack" that i was supposed to get, they said they were sending me a fan pack and one of these Puffit Enhancement springs as a gift for putting up with their poor CS. i was/am skeptical that it would actually do anything and was going to wait till i got it to judge it.

are you saying you have one already and are using it?? if so i am hoping it works like you state when i get mine.

Thanks bigtvapes!

And yes, mmenzie, I have one and have been using it. It means I get iolite-style clouds from my puffit. Now I know iolite-style clouds aren't quite the same as, say, Cloud style clouds, but they're a hell of a lot better than the Puffit was offering before!

And a small correction, Puffit will charge about 99 cents to cover postage for anyone wanting a vapor enhancement thingy.

Is that an angry, 99 cents is way too much, "you're kidding, right?" or an incredulous, 99 cents is cheap as chips "you're kidding, right?"! Either way I'm deadly serious, and I think it's a fair price.

Now don't get me wrong, this vapor enhancement thingy doesn't catapult the puffit into my no.1 portable vape position, but it turns it from a fun novelty into a very functional, stealthy portable vape. I find people who are unused to having to push the button for every hit are confused by it, but once you get used to it, it has its advantages: for example, sometimes I like taking a very small hit that will loosen up my creative processes without knocking me out, and the puffit allows this.

This is a fairly trivial charge for a simple spring machine part that should have been included with the unit (and will be going forward). One of the risks you take as a maker with limited market testing of your beta units is the chance of increased cost upgrading (or even replacing) the sub standard units shipped early.

You don't think the customers should pay to upgrade the stinky rubber parts do you?

IMO they should automatically mail the parts out to anyone they know has their units in the hopes their customers will then get the performance they paid for...... The other vape makers they hope to compete with do as much, even Atmos doesn't charge for the attempts to get the RAW to work. They should not be charging us postage for the parts they should have developed in their evaluation and testing and provided in the original shipment.

We're talking less than one percent here....... I call that cheap and far from customer oriented.

Well I can see your point, and I doubt they've sold that many units that sending the spring out free of charge would bankrupt them, but I also don't think I'd be too upset if I had to fork out a dollar for it, especially considering the relative low cost of the puffit. I guess it's one for each customer to decide for themselves.

I agree fully. For sure I'll pay less than a dollar to get what IMO should have been included (and will be for 'everyone else'), but that doesn't mean I think it's fair or smart business. I'd feel differently if it wasn't included in future shipments of course.

So I'll wait until the plan firms up, pay the dollar and give it a try. It will effect my views on the company, perhaps even to the point of tainting my willingness to buy DV products in the future. It surely will influence my recommendations of their device, hard to be supportive of that kind of action. At least for me. Charging a fraction of their 'early adopters' for a part that arguably should have been included does not inspire confidence in their willingness to aggressively and proactively address (even minor) issues in the future.

IMO a classic example of 'Penny wise and Pound foolish' from a business model standpoint. They got over a hundred of my dollars, sounds like they'll get just shy of one more.

Again, consider how at least some of their competitors would handle this........

Disappointing.

Oh OF go read my posts in the mivape thread. I have been saying the same thing and been fussed out for it. Maybe I take it a step beyond but my point is early adopters as much as they like the fun are the true testers not the people that work for companies. The companies get free testing and give no incentives after the feedback pos and neg so they can make improvements. They would have to pay a fortune for what the people on fc do for them. I know this is a small community but a picky one and who else would you want to test then the people on here. On mj communities they give the good growers "popular people" free lights all the time to test. Sometimes it is borrowed and has to be sent back but that is fine too.

The bottom line for them and us is to produce the best product. I think it is really helpful to the companies that actually frequent here. If Andrew stayed, although he might still read, he would have had his unit fixed a long time ago but he still has a bit more work to do. I don't know about you but I don't mind being used sometimes lol. I also think there are a lot of technical people on this site and maybe workers at these companies aren't so much. You also have people here like me who use strictly for medical and we have way different views as say some on the pax thread on medical usability with our disabilities. You get my point although it was lost on two other threads. At the very least incentives after a bad product is fixed would be nice like a way cheap upgrade option. I am not talking about the spring which I also agree should be free on principle.

Sorry, Lady, that bit I don't follow, got a link for that? TIA

Otherwise, I think we're on the same page. I too don't mind taking a risk on new stuff (sometimes) but it's kinda lame when those that don't take the risk get a better deal. Even for such a small sum. Perhaps it's just because it is such a small sum that it seems so petty and frankly somewhat offensive. Your point of principle is spot on, sometimes it has great value. Pride of ownership suffers in cases like this, needlessly IMO.

It does not have to be this way. I've done a number of confidential (true) beta tests for several makers who post here. Some of those products were introduced unchanged, some modified before introduction and some flat out cancelled due to problems that showed up in actual use. Some are in fact pending right now, I hope they 'pan out' and become yet more options for customers. Using this (slower and more expensive) technique protects the customers from such BS as this and at the same time limits the maker's risks.....which is why it's a traditional technique. Amateurs and 'fast buck artists' often shortchange this step with attendant adventures from time to time the result.

I'm just struck that their value of customer will is less than one percent of part of their customer sales, not what one might hope for. An obviously profitable move short term, but IMO not very long sighted. Nor confidence building. I suspect most folks would like makers with Customer Support histories like TV, MF, D9 the other 'proffered' guys. Like I said, when you compare poorly to Atmos RAW it's time to reassess IMO.

As you say, it's a small world, your 'rep' is what controls your future often. The point about Medical and recreational users being two different animals is well taken, not always absolute, but IMO very important to keep in mind.

so surprise, surprise, surprise!!!! i ACTUALLY got my GotVape fan pack and the correct one this time. i am shocked actually. it came with everything i was told and more (guess they were tired of my ranting). i just opened the pack and this is what i got:

1) clear sleeve (the type FedEx uses on their packages to put the shipping label in) filled with another Vaorizers and you heath pamphlet, some product pamplets, an ASS-TON of different types of GotVape stickers (seriously there must be close to 100 stickers in here)

2) a gigantic GotVape plastic like poster (like a promotional poster they would use at a convention)

3) a GotVape Lanyard

4) a pinapple headed poker

4) a magnetic spice blender (grinder)

5) and the gift i am most interested in... the PuffIT Enhancement Springy Cap (sorry to the people that they are going to charge $0.99 to)

i am at work so it will be a while before i can see if this "spring" will really do anything different to my PuffIT experience.

guess now i have to keep my rants against GotVape to a minimum now. still very surprised it actually came!!!

Glad they took care of you for your trouble. Pretty sweet. I gotta respect the manu here. If the product ain't perfect, fine. But I feel like the company is trying to fix stuff, trying to make it better. I think in a year or two there will be a model of this at a reasonable price point that will be the greatest vaporizer ever made. The design is so fantastic, it just needs a few tweaks here and there and it could be a very nice product some day.

I still feel like I have a $140 paperweight at this point but maybe the spring will change my life lol. who knows.

So I bought my puffit back in July, when it was first released. I used to love it, the plastic taste wasn't as bad as everyone else was saying, so I continued to use it flawlessly. Well about 2 months I ordered from a delivery dispensery for the first time ever using them. They gave me some "Casey jones" and some kief for being a new patient. Well I grinded it up and started puffing. Instantly it had a "flavor" that tasted rank, but any other piece it tasted fine. And now it's stuck tasting like that. I can't explain the taste, it gives the worst after taste, and I even threw the ABV from the puffit into my volcano and it didn't even have the same taste. I cleaned it multiple times, anyone else can handle that nasty flavor, but still taste it , but i can't handle it. It's been plugged in for about 2 weeks, only used once just to show someone how bad it tastes. I have no idea what happened, but its now a unused paper weight. Oh I even lost the silicone cover in my car somewhere, so I def don't want to use it now. I used to love it, I'd go on errands, take it with me and puff whenever, but now I'd rather wait until I get home and get vaked off my volcano. Complete disappointment now, a waste of money and everytime I TRY to use it, I maybe make it to the 3rd cycle and I'm grossed out by it.

My mom is trying to stop smoking from a pipe, she doesn't smoke enough for something like a volcano, but I told her do NOT get a puffit, she would be severely disappointed especially since she's new to vaping, I would hate to ruin her expierence with this device.

I haven't read the last few pages of this thread since I stopped using my puffit, just wish I didn't waste my money on this and just opted for a PAX

They are (were?) sending out replacement tubing and stuff. I guess a new coil (99c shipping on you) that makes it work better as well. It's worth a shot, a few bucks might get it back up to your liking?

Don't get me wrong, I'll pay the trivial amount as well no doubt.

That doesn't keep it from being lame to charge a buck. It's not an expendable, I did nothing wrong......

I guess I should try to email them, it was a gift (my puffit) and no speaking. Probably just tell me to replace the whole thing since its not under my name, lame.
