PUFFiT portable

If you aren't in a rush wait till you have the money to get what you want. I only hear you talking about what something looks like not how it performs. There are pros and cons to every vape portable or not. You have to decide what you need. I have a MFLB without a pa and it is a good run out and keep you at a level med machine. I have others as well that you can see in my signature and will be adding two more. You might ask why would you add more if you have what you like. The reason is they are all different and give you meds in different ways. Since I don't combust anymore I am chasing a new way to get what I need more quickly to stop my spasms. I am yet to find something as efficient in that application for me but we are all different.

I would have saved and gotten the PAX if I knew what I know now. And I like my Puffit. It's just not a consistently powerful vape.

and I.... would have gotten the Inhalater INH004 if I knew what i know now. I don't hate my PuffIT, i just don't LOVE it. I may consider putting mine up for sale and see if anyone wants it, but i am still playing with it.

Get your Freak on....
If only the Pax was maybe $200 rather than $250... it really is lovely, and the amethyst color is to die for. After all the research, I'm still leaning towards the PuffIt. This chart helped me since I have tiny hands and wanted a vape I could easily carry in my purse.

Cool Chart.. I will be honest.. I loved the Puffit but never could get past the Strong Plastic taste and smell.. If they have fixed that, then it is a good unit.. I have both and I like the feel of the Pax in my hand.. The Puffit is ok in hand as well.. But I am 6'1 and 200 lbs... So you being small I would think either would work well..

BTW is that you in your Pic? You look cute and petite... Off to use my Pax...

As I said, it may pass a casual inspection. Probably will even. And the further the observer and more fleeting the glance the better. However, in actual use it's not good cover IMO. Nobody uses an inhaler like folks use the Puffit. They don't look at it, play with it or wait. Take it out, pull the cap, shake it up (which 'never' happens with Puffit) and hit it right then. 10 seconds max. Puffit users stare into the hole waiting to the light then hit it for ten seconds or so straight, not two. It's gonna look odd to even the casual looker I think. In the same conditions I think palming the MFLB is much better cover for instance.

Yes, blue has advantages over black, but it's the way you use it not the color that's going to attract attention I think? Too bad your vape pen experience hasn't been more impressive to you, I assume that means you haven't tried Omicron or Revolution? While I agree they are stealthy in their own right, I was saying that open use blends in with the e-cig 'smokers'. I know guys here in California (where we treat smokers like fourth class citizens.....won't even let them ride at the back of the bus.....who join the guys at the bar out in the parking lot and toke up while guys a few feet away puff madly.

I just think counting on looking like a 'harmless inhaler' is dangerous false confidence. It will work most times, but has serious flaws in regular practice. Sooner or later it will lead to grief?

OF

I'd like to chime in on the stealth aspect.

Being in NYC, I've used this walking down the street and standing next to people waiting for trains (not in the subway) and have yet to have someone even look twice at what I'm doing. I completely understand that this does not function in a way a normal inhaler would and a seasoned inhaler vet would know that, but from my experience I don't think most people on the street do. Let's assume they do know exactly how an inhaler works ... I can't imagine a scenario where they are going to say anything to you or anyone else about what you are doing. Personally when I use this, I make an effort to look at comfortable / confident as possible. If I'm acting normal and calm the people around me have no reason to believe I'm doing anything wrong. Assuming that people know how the average inhaler works, how would they know that this isn't a new type of inhaler for a different purpose? It could be a new trial of a cigarette smoking cessation product, or a way to consume mint to clear phlem out of your lungs, etc. Again, I've personally found if I look / act like I'm doing nothing wrong, I don't draw attention to myself.

One time I went to a high profile building and forgot it was in my pocket and I had to clear a metal detector and put my pocket contents through an X-ray scanner. Tossed it on the scanner and walked through cool, calm and collected. The screener happened to have the device in his hand when I reached the other sice of the scanner. I asked what was up (staying completely calm. I hadnt done anything wrong and wasnt being accused of doing anything wrong. Plus, odds are the security screeners for the building are looking for bombs, guns, etc ... Not weed devices) I figured if he really questioned me I would tell him I used it to consume herbs to clear my lungs or something. He asked me "where's the spray?" I thought he was asking at the inhaler spray, but stayed calm and asked "what spray?" he was looking for pepper spray which I insisted I didnt have. I told him "that's not pepper spray, that's my inhaler." He very confidently (practically arrogantly, which was hilarious) insisted "I KNOW IT'S AN INHALER, WHERES YOUR PEPPER SPRAY?" I again insisted I didn't have pepper spray, citing that as a male born and raised in new York that would be out of character. He checked with the screener operating the x ray machine who clarified the person in front of me had the pepper spray.

Seconds later, my puffit and I were reunited.

TLDR: my experience is that if I act Like I'm doing nothing wrong, people around me look at me like I'm doing nothing wrong.

Great, glad to hear it's working for you thus far. At the risk of repeating myself, though, "I just think counting on looking like a 'harmless inhaler' is dangerous false confidence. It will work most times, but has serious flaws in regular practice. Sooner or later it will lead to grief?"

I'd hate for some poor soul to over estimate the deception or their skill pulling it off, the downside can be nasty. I advise caution, not routinely counting on it passing unnoticed.

Not to mention the thought that soon 'the kids are using a device that looks like a large inhaler to smoke pot in' word is going to get passed around in the wrong circles.

Each guys call, of course, but I see it as seriously short of 'perfect cover'. Not even as good as one hitters made up to look like cigarettes, which have been known to fail a time or two?

I hear ya for sure. I guess I should also note that herbal possession is just a ticket in NYC (that most cops here don't even want to deal with because of how much paperwork it is for just a $100 ticket that is super easy to beat) which is probably where a lot of my confidence comes from. When you know getting caught can really only lead to a little hassle, not arrest and jail time, you're willing to take larger (albeit, still calulated) risks.

I have no experience with any other vaporizer. None. I bought this and used it recently at a 3 day music festival. Hardly the most stringent enforcement environment, but it was in Texas, so there was some risk. Anyway, it works great, I think. I have nothing to compare it to other than the caveman method, and it's wonderful compared to that. No (or very little) odor is a huge plus. I'm sure that's probably the same with all vaporizers, but if somebody reads this who, like me, has zero experience with vaporizers, know that it's as advertised in that department.

The battery obviously has a lot of work to do, and I don't know what would be considered normal battery life, but I found that I could only get about 2 sessions out of a charge. That's about eight, 10 second draws.

Yep, it's me! Thank you :) I'm not short, but I am built pretty petite.. I've been lurking the Pax thread and I'm still mostly leaning towards the PuffIt.

Thanks for your story rogerrabbit... That's always reassuring to know.

If you are an mmj patient in the liberal state I am not sure why you are worrying so much. I can understand being discrete and as stealth as you can be but the more important issue is gettng the meds the way you need them. I can be stealth to. I can avoid my meds while I am out and lose my mind. The same would happen if I am not using a proper unit.

Never can be too safe, right? I just don't like to draw attention to myself for any reason. :) You're right though.

My friends call me "Menz"
so just a little update here about my issues with GotVape shipping and/or customer service. i am posting this here cause the Puffit was the only thing i ever bought from GV and another reason that will be apparant...

so ever since i got my RMA unit back from GV i was told i was supposed to get a fan pack that had a grinder and a poker. all i got was a fan pack that had medical advertisements and a single GotVape iso wipe. so for literally the past 3 weeks i have sent them an email saying i didn't receive it, then i get an email back how they are sorry and will send it the very next day and will email me a tracking number the next day as well. the next day comes and goes and no email is received. then a week goes by and no package is received either. i then send another email and the process repeats itself.

last night i send the email again and this time i add that i am appalled about the whole process and said i was going to ask in all the boards i am a member of that they do business on and on their facebook page if this is what their customers always have to do to get the fan pack they advertise?? and this time i get back the same apologetic email i always get but this time they added this part:

What I have done is included the new Puffit Vape Enhancement Spring that allows you to pack your unit to the top of the filling chamber, then you insert the spring into the top cap and it packs your blend down for you! This will ensure that you have a quality Vapor produced

and to add... this morning in my email i received a tracking number from them as well. so it looks like i will finally get a package from them. now whether or not i get what they said i should get or another fan pack with pamphlets i will never read remains to be seen. i hope i get what they said i should get and i can finally put this debacle to rest. also this spring for the PuffiT sounds interesting but i doubt it will be that useful. guess we'll wait and see......

Well, I just want to say, that it really depends on the cop. I've been extremely lucky in NYC too, however, I do know people who have been put in jail over a dime bag, or a joint. So it really depends on your situation.

That being said, to each his own :-). I am a pretty big risk taker as well :-). I've used my Pax in public a bunch, just gotta be confident like you said :-)

Anyhow, has Puffit fixed it's taste/smell issues? I noticed in the beginning they were sending parts to people to fix, has that been resolved?

Poor missrocket. She buys the thing and everyone tries to talk her out of it lol.

Honestly, I like my Puffit. It's inexpensive and it's a decent device. It's powerful enough once you get used to it.

Mine's been a little wacky lately tho. I was banging out sick clouds on it left and right and now I can't get a decent hit to save my life again. I mean, it's heating up. I'm worried mine might be broken, but I did the stupid replacement parts thing so I dunno if I screwed my warranty :-( Nor do I know if it's even broken and would get help if I did send it in. Lots of "Well this device wasn't DESIGNED to be a consistently useful vape, just something to be discreet blah blah discretion blah blah stealthy blah blah."

Haha, I haven't bought it yet. :)

Thanks for the tip! Yeah, the price point is definitely the best part. The only other vape I'd want is the Pax, and it's more than $100 more. So PuffIt definitely wins on that front. (They do say "you get what you pay for" though so it could be a bad thing..)

Anyhow, has Puffit fixed it's taste/smell issues? I noticed in the beginning they were sending parts to people to fix, has that been resolved?
Yes, this is the main concern I have as well. I like that the Pax has a stainless steel vapor path as opposed to silicone on the Puffit.

I think the Puffit, if it works like it's supposed to, is the better choice for sheer stealth. The PAX is better, and like I said, there's a few vapes I wish I went with over my Puffit in hindsight.

My issue with the "Stealth" is that if you've read the boards here, you know some of the things we have to do to get a nice hit. Double tapping, waiting for the lights to be at a very precise time before re-activating and stuff. I mean, with practice it gets kind of smooth but is it really discreet to be staring at the little light on your inhaler for anywhere between 10-60 seconds at a time between each hit??

If I were you I'd save up and get something better or more reliable. Most of this thread anymore is a bunch of people either a) complaining about it or b) making the best of what they're stuck with. I mean like a small percentage of us actually really stand behind the device. I go up and down with it. Sometimes I really like it but other times, like now when I'm having a hard time getting a consistent hit, I just put it down and don't even want to look at it.

Thank you! This post really has convinced me that the Pax will be better for my needs then. I really was sold on the novelty and the stealth factor of the Puffit.. but TBH the Pax could easily be an e-cig of some sort and I could pass it as such. I appreciate your insight.

The real issue with the Puffit is the inconsistency. You don't know what you're gonna get. Some people sing it's praises. Others bash the thing at any turn. The truth lies somewhere in the middle. IT's just not a consistent vape. The PAX, for the most part, very much IS a consistent vape which is why I wish I chose it.

Have you seen the PAX?

I would check out those dimensions and measure them out. The PAX is bigger than most people who've never seen it think it is. Definitely much larger than any e-cig I've seen. I personally thought it was the size of a lighter before I'd seen it, as that's what I had been told. It's larger than a bic lighter and by a decent margin. It's more like the size of a small remote control.

I mean I think the PAX will be fine for you, basing on what I've read. I think you'd be o.k. with the Puffit as well. But the PAX is honestly a better vape. I've tried one myself over a friend's house and it really is a treat to use. It's not PERFECT, and I think some of it's fans overstate some of it's good points while ignoring some of its flaws, but I think you'll find that with any popular vape.

mmenzie you have a lot of patience. I would have given up on that company long ago and would never buy from them again. I wouldn't even care anymore about the free stuff they are suppose to send.

missrocket I wanted to like the puffit cause as you said the stealth is a nice factor. As bigtvapes said it loses some of that with having to stare at it. I still stay in this thread cause I am waiting for a huge improvement on this vape as it might have room in some applications "IF IT WORKS CONSTANTLY".

I hope you find what you need but don't forget to save up money because as I found out lurking in this site doesn't cost so much money. Participating in this site creates an issue of I want them all. I have been lurking for more then a year and I think I joined back in July or Aug and bought an INH but am about to buy two more vapes. I think I bought the DV before I joined but bought it because of the reviews here.

Yes, I really like how the PAX looks. Especially in purple, it's very aesthetically pleasing. I've seen pictures of it in girls' hands (who I'm assuming are probably around the same size as mine) and it looks small enough. Holding my inhaler in my hand (and I know the Puffit is slightly larger) it's actually kind of an awkward shape. In this regard, I'm actually preferring the PAX.

The price difference between the two is a big one, so obviously they're not really going to compare. (I expect less from the Puffit, because it's $100+ less.) I'm just trying to decide if the extra price tag is worth it.

I think it goes back to what you need a vape for, what kind of illnesses you have, is the heat level very important for your condition(s), among other factors along the same line. I know the way the puffit is made at the moment will not give me the meds I need so even if it was free it would be useless.

While I understand that approach, I'd like to suggest a slightly different perspective. In the end, of course, it's a personal choice as it should be.

Two points, first I think the cost difference, large as it is, is small relative to the cost of all the herb you hope to run through it. I've no idea your costs, of course, but the hundred dollars difference could be a few percent of the total over the next year or two you hope to use it.

Secondly, if you opt to 'go cheap' and later upgrade to the unit that really fits your needs (the one you'll actually use for that year or two) you'll have to add the cost of the unused vape to the total, that is that decision costs you say $350, not the $250 Pax would today (assuming that's what happens).

You have to decide if that makes any sense in your case. Just a thought or two I had on the matter that seemed kinda fun somehow.

Good luck with your choices, IMO it's great to have so many.
