Ya I can combust in mine at 3 o clock with a .2~ load if I inhale slowly, but 3 o clock is where I normally keep mine I like to be able to pull faster for hooking up to my tube.

Thanks for the tips you guys.

Last night I accidentally blew into the hose and got stuff charring on the heating element. I took off the heater cover, cleaned up, then reassembled. I noticed now that the heating element didn't sit up as high as it used to. The heater cover is resting on top the screws and I stopped pushing it into place once I felt a snap.

Yeah and a slow steady inhale with the SSV turned all the way up doesn't char up my bowl. Damn, I wonder if I should have got the LSV instead...

I had an issue too where my heater cover had raised up a bit... once I pushed it all the way down that fixed my issue... I draw pretty fast and keep mine at about 1-2 o'clock. I would definitely check the heating element/heater cover... I love my SSV though and think it is a great home unit. I recently got a SSFG Travel Beaker and WPA... I love it! The water pipe with the SSV is a perfect smooth hit. I do notice that it is easier to burn the herb with the travel beaker so I do have to lower the temp a bit. Are you just using the whip or are you using along with a water pipe?

Is your heating element glowing red? I'd try adjusting it like others have mentioned. The SGG is much harder to char than the standard HC. Also make sure you preheat your glass for just a couple minutes, 5 should be sufficient, and make sure you have no fans blowing around the HC, as it will lower its temp.

Yeah blowing into the hose is such a buzz kill. Same thing can happen with a bubbler, the back pressure from shifting water levels will blow stuff back into your HC if you stop hitting it without pulling the whip out.

But here's the toughy: Do I really know what the hell I'm doing??? Yeah, it just seems that the only time I really feel like I'm vaping is when the dial is turned all the way up. That's strange cuz I always thought between 12-3 o'clock would be ideal.

I purchased the Rainbow Zen w/ upgraded SGG and WPA. She's a beauty! I know it's only been a day and it's gonna be like learning to drive stick again but I really hope I'm heading in the right direction when it comes to vaping correctly.

For those of you who have a SSV, can ya give me some helpful hints to make sure I'm vaping correctly and that my vape is not a lemon? Maybe I should have stuck with standard instead of spherical? Perhaps my technique may be off? You know, stuff like that :peace:

Was that your first time vaping? If so it might be working perfectly fgine but vaping might just not feel like you expected. If this is your first time vaping, a common newbie error is to set the temp so high that it starts to taste and look like the smoke you're used to when smoking. That is NOT the proiper setting for a vape. I don't have an SSV/DBV/LSV yet (my LSV almost was delivered today) but I'd recommend using the setting other users of that vape recommend and keep using it at that temp, don't forget that in most light conditions the vapor can be almost invisible, you can often only see in the right lithing conditions AND with a dark background behind the vapor, otherwise it's normal not to see it, so don't judge by the look or the taste because you're likely to just get it high enough to generate the smoke you're used to from smoking.
